Left out the most important thing, which is the magnetization is much much stronger than the Ifixit one, which is such a QOL improvement when working with smaller screws.
I love that the case has an easily removable lid that is also a magnetic parts tray. There's a lot of thought that goes in to the design overall, no matter what anyone says about the price tag. I've paid more than that for a number of separate things that have similar functionality but never all in one like this.
@@Lewinium I could be wrong, but I think you're mistaken. You need to disclose it if you are being paid. In this case, they also mention that they received it for free. It's about transparency when an opinion might be swayed
As a public school technician, I always keep my iFixit screwdriver with the Phillips bit in the pocket on my backpack's sleeve. It's always a bit tedious to have to take out my whole kit to switch out for a flathead or SIM bit (for pushing out headphone jacks from the inside). The compartment in the screwdriver instantly sold me after the spin top had me on edge already. Yes, I fidget with the iFixit top as well lol But what sold me on the LTT kit/case is the top is actually magnetic. SOOO many times I have tried to use the iFixit top case as a screw holder and the ridges are so small that they end up just rolling into other sections. They really made actual improvements that make buying it a worthy purchase even if you have an iFixit kit.
We're in an age where RUclips creators are making some of the best tools you need. I use the OG screwdriver at work and I'm a commercial HVAC tech. My dad's a retired mechanic and keeps his in the top drawer of the tool box. GN's solder mat, Craft Computing's temp sensor, Hacksmith MiniSaber.

Makes sense. Creators like you listed etc like Linus or jerryrigseverything HAVE to make the items quality or else there would ensue hundreds of small creators finding opportunities to make bank making drama videos against them
I don't think anyone explained the purpose of the bearing aspect of the screwdriver. The smaller more precision screwdrivers in general have the bearing so that you can position that part in the palm of your hand to help apply pressure to the screw or bolt allowing your fingers to precisely turn the screwdriver. Smaller screws and bolts don't require as much pressure (your whole arm strength) as say a regular screw or bolt. Using your forearm or wrist to put pressure on the screw/bolt is enough to break it loose.
Digital Screwdriver would be one of those Bluetooth connected ones that collects data on torque amount and angle. Yes these really are a useful tool for manufacturing.
The fact that iFixit ceo had issues that Linus made a screw driver to fit in there case shows everything I need to know about him. Dude thinks ltt is scamming him and I’m just like wut???
I mean it *is* eating into iFixits screwdriver sales lol. For a random company to do it is one thing, for a company you’ve worked closely with in the past to do it is another.
Yeah Ifixit even stopped advertising with ltt which I’m guessing is because of that. But Linus made it very clear that he has no ill feelings about it and the door is always open if they wish to work woth them again.
@@seanlacroix which makes sense from their perspective but I think it’s silly to suggest the iFixit people don’t have any good reason be upset or bothered by what LTT did, especially if it was without consulting them first.
I have been using the original LTT screwdriver since it came out. I also use it for mechanic work and have been very happy with it compared to other brands.
Also, if you get the kit with the screwdriver and bits, the case has a built-in magnetic organizer so you can keep track of where each screw came from.
I think it's for someone who maybe once a year or so decides to assemble an ikea product, or to clean out dust of PC once every few months. For someone like me, or most other people who play constant household handyman and use the tools often enough where you actually wear them out, i doubt this would hold up in long-term, that or bits / screwdriver it self would end up getting lost. I mean as it was said, if you are a huge fan and supporter of said channels, it's fine to pay the ltt tax on top of whatever it costs without it, but overall what i see is a screwdriver set with bits that world the same way any other brand does - solid build quality product priced below average on market due to quality benefit, slapped with a brand tax on top of it.
The orange foam makes it so much easier to read the markings for the labels in the case. It also has an adapter that lets you use the precision bits in the ratcheting screwdriver which is a nice touch. Also the magnetic tray lid is very nice.
I believe it's not just the Ifixit kit that has the off-standard, I believe most screwdrivers are actually "off-standard" as in off the official standard, but in practice it's what ifixit/ltt are using
"creator tax" is not an extra 10 bucks iFixit shipping is €9 for me, making the total €49 for a 64 bit set, screwdriver and the flexi-thing... LTT precision screwdriver ALONE is $10 shipping and $9 taxes, totalling to basically the same for just the screwdriver
Yes, taxes and shipping change the price substantially, but I'd argue the magnetic sorting tray and bit compartment are substantial improvements over the iFixit kit. Personally it wouldn't be worth the price difference, but I don't think it's worth calling "creator tax".
I was buying the Noctua screwdriver, and then i saw this video, and I was convinced to add the screwdriver to my set. Mostly because it fits my iFixit bits and i dont have to buy the whole kit (which is currently sold out)
@@Nayr090 What I do like about LTT bits is that the narrow part of the bit is longer, so I can reach deeper screws without needing a dedicated fixed shaft screwdriver. Honestly without that I wouldn't have much reason to get bits. For really deep screws, there's no escaping fixed shaft, but still, that little extra length does help.
They should do like a spinner thing where the middle would mount on the fidget toy so wouldnt need to replace the cap even if its possible to take it off
I have the one from ifixit and let me tell you the thing that drives me nuts about it is the spinny part keeps trying to come in screwed. Because it spins I can't just tighten it down, so it keeps slowly unscrewing itself every time I use it.
I appreciate the thoughtful design and efficient use of space, but I will never not hate using a bit driver. I have one for security bits, otherwise I don't ever touch it. It is worth it to me to have a small set of nice screwdrivers with me in a mobile tool kit.
