I’ve never had a dropper that hasn’t developed issues over time. After a couple months my service intervals become 2x a week to keep it moving. Will be interested to see the long term viability of this one.
I have a V2 and recently upgraded it with the V2.1 seal head. Great post for the money with good weight, good drop for length and easy to service, but even with the new seal head it weeps grease like MFer. Have to add more all the time. And if it isn’t packed with fresh grease the breakaway friction is pretty bad. If the V3 fixes that it’s a solid dropper but the new price is getting dangerously close to BikYoke and Wolf Tooth. And lack of adjusting air pressure seems like a miss. I ride fat bikes in the winter and once them temps drop I up the pressure to compensate for the change in air density. Otherwise they are really slow. Just like how car tires lose a few psi in the winter.
The added bushing overlap definitely seems to help, at least so far. I rarely greased my V2, but got used to rocking the seat forward to help with the breakaway.
That trail😮super steep and white knuckle looking! As for droppers. I have the budget Bontrager with the cartridge, love it! My premium V2 Fox Transfer, seems to need more maintenance. Just saying…
Totally agree, I've had much more trouble with the expensive Fox and Rockshox droppers. The Bontrager is long compared to the OneUp but I had good luck with it.
I have the V2 and just finished doing a full service on it. I have done the “quick” service on it, 12 times during the riding season to keep it moving well. For me 12 times is too much. I had also talked to customer service twice. (They were good btw) At this point in the game, droppers should not have to be serviced that often. I personally can’t stand the oneup v2. I’ve sold my post and it’s being picked up this weekend. Contemplating the V3 but I’m not sure I trust it…
@@dirtyforksmtb Nice, I haven't tried a PNW post since like 2018. I generally just ride the post until is almost stops working and the OneUp posts have certainly outlasted the Fox and Rockshox posts that have come stock. I also really appreciate the short lengths.
That trail looks amazing at the end!
It's one of my favorites!
@@NICADV Where and what trail? Definitely looks sic!
@@r0bv123 the trail at the end is in the Bellingham area and I don’t know the name.

Have you run the OneUp dropper before? I had really good luck with my last one.
@@NICADV yes had two of the v2s. Probably just need to throw more money at the problem and try a bike yoke.

@@NICADV at least it is super easy to add grease, takes less than a minute.
Would you recommend a dropper post for a senior non aggressive rider?
yes
Oh yeah, it even makes getting on and off the bike easier

Gnarly trail!

Where are you based and what posts have you ridden that work better?
PNW posts have always worked for me. Just bought the Loam to replace the V2. Hopefully no future issues.
