It's definitely still strong, but I'd say at best it's about 60% of what it used to be. And the "cleanliness" is the result of the wear on his vocal chords in the late-80's.

Ive seen the guys play this song everywhere...from Oakland in '91 to Iowa in 91, 92, 93, 97, blah, blah....and it NEVER gets old. I still say, as i said back in 1991, 'SBT' set the new standard of what 'heavy' is. Pace, lyrics, and tone...its perfect.

Idk how I'm only realising it now how much Lars' hi hat playing has changed over time, much more consistent without the weird ghost notes and accents.
He started playing to a met post pandemic I think. His tempo is definitely consistent, and there are significantly less unnecessary fills and even when there are, they are at least in time and at a steady tempo
