    Brilliant review Russ. They are sold through another company here in Australia and although expensive, its value is ten times the other brands. Thanks for mentioning its a family business of 15 people because I love supporting family businesses so I will buy one today. Cheers Mate.

    We’ve not long purchased one of those and yes it far exceeds Karcher in power and quality. One negative though there needs to be instructions on how to put it together, as there are none. If it hadn’t been for your videos we would have been at a loss of how to get it working. 👍👍👍

    Hi Russell we chatted some time ago (maybe another of your vdos) after my Karcher was stolen. I bought the V90 and waited while AVA fixed the fuse issue - which they have done.
    Thanks Russell, you are quite right this AVA out performs my Premium KARCHER and is way more user friendly and easier to use.
    I'm still waiting for Tone at AVA to let me know when the Patio Cleaner is back in stock - but they didn't take the Karcher version and this fits.
    Anyway, thanks a lot Russell. Much appreciated

    A brilliant piece of engineering. I had three failures of Karcher k4 machines (which I think are rubbish) I had very poor response from Karcher and all they offered me was a standard repair at £161. Ava seem brilliant and made to last. Can you confirm if the P80 will draw from a barrel. I believe they do..

      Thank you. One more thing, I have read about these models blowing main 13a fuses on a regular basis. Have Ava sorted this problem out. I also can’t see this P80 model on their website. Has it been discontinued?? Thanks again. John

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  Год назад +1

      My P80 only blows fuses if it it connected to a socket on a spur or via an extension lead. If I connect it to a socket fed by the ringmain (two 2.5mm cables) it does not blow fuses. Since I figured this out, it has not blown a fuse and I have used the pressure washer a lot. I ended up buying the HP Hose Extension so that I did not need an electrical extension lead.
      The CEO of Ava told me that they had figured out the cause of the issue and hoped to have it rectified by the end of 2021. I have not heard from him since, so cannot say for certain that it has been addressed. As far as I am aware the P80 is still available here in the UK. :-)

  • @micdev42
    @micdev42 9 месяцев назад

    Hi Russell. Another really helpful review, thanks. I do have a question about the K7 comparison though. The K7 is specified as 180 bar and 500 l/h. The AVA Master is 160 bar and 600 l/h. You reckon the AVA performance is superior. Is that because flow rate is more important than pressure? I'm looking for a good quality pressure washer mostly for DIY patio, path, paver, greenhouse, conservatory cleaning so this review - and your K7 review - are very timely. I also like the idea of the 20 year warranty and the fact that AVA classifies its spare parts as "non-profit" (or something similar).

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, the flow rate is better for large areas and the pressure does not make a lot of difference at these higher pressures. :-)

    • @anonymousbullet7407
      @anonymousbullet7407 7 месяцев назад +2

      I deal with ultra high pressure washers for desilting. I can confirm the psi doesn’t make much of a difference, it’s the flow rate that matters. The better the flow rate, the better the outcome you’ll receive. Most companies advertise high psi to sell, stick with high flow rates and you’ll be fine 👍

      All these manufacturers love to only mention the "max pressure", but the devices are never able to reach that pressure. They should be obligated to mention the "working pressure", but you can only find these in the small prints. The "working pressure" is the realistic pressure.
      For the Karcher K7: the working pressure is 160 bar (16 mpa)
      180 bar (18 mpa) is pure marketing.
      For the Ava P80: the working pressure is 130 bar (13 mpa)

      Ther turbo nozzle is high pressure and cannot be adjusted. You can use the nozzle from longer distances to reduce the pressure, but it is not designed for softer surfaces. The Vario nozzle has two pressure settings 20° and 60°, these two nozzles cover a wide range of applications such as wood, car washing and facias. • @RussellPlatten

      There is no such thing as a slow blow 15A fuse for a 3 pin plug that complies with British Standards. They are not available. Ava told me that the problem with fuses blowing is pretty rare. I found that the fuse would blow if I used the power washer on a socket with only one 2.5mm cable supplying it. If I plug it into a socket on the ringmain with two cables, there is no issue. It also blows fuses if plugged into an extension lead. I just make sure it is plugged into the ringmain. Ava are supposed to be bringing a modified P80 out for the UK market pretty soon. :-)

If I use a socket on the ringmain, (supplied by two 2.5mm cables) the fuse does not blow. It will also blow the fuse if used with an extension cable. I just run the pressure washer cable through a window and plug it into the ring main. :-)

    I have read elsewhere that pressure washing house windows can damage them and their frames, do you think there is anything in that? Is it safe to do so?

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  3 года назад

      It is possible, to damage frames, especially wooden frames, but I do not think these pressure washers would damage the glass. I would always use a fan spray and not a jet. I have had no issues washing my PVC frames, but I am no expert on the subject! :-)

    Hiya great review I’m looking at getting a karcher k7 compact and looking at the operating pressure the Ava is only 110 bar where the karcher is 145bar, if you’d rate them on cleaning ability alone which one is better? Thank you

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  2 года назад +1

      The K7 was quoted as 160 bar when I purchased it in early 2021, it is now listed as 180 bar on the same Amazon product page, very strange!. The Ava Master P80 is 160 bar. They both clean well, but the Ava is a better machine in my opinion. It is designed with a lot more convenience, has no fancy gadgets, the attachments are better and it has a way longer guarantee. The K7 compact is the best version of the K7 in my opinion as this has no fancy gadgets too, but I personally would pick the Ava. :-)

    P90L AVA costs 400euro ex vat, lavor maine1409 470e ex vat and kranzle 1152tst 650e or xa17tst 615e ex vat shipping included. All above except AVA are pro models with brass head pumps and ceramic coated pistons, pro axial pumps, pro guns and lances. I don't know what to say when I see people buy K7, K5 or this chinese machines for 100-200euro price difference... Or even compare them... But I must say AVA looks nice. I like the color of machine.

      I think the majority of people just stick withy brands that they know. I used to research a little, but was always wary of brands I did not know. Ava are now my goto machines. I still have my Karcher, but use the P80 or P55 depending on what I am doing. :-)

    Try buying one and that's when the silliness really starts. I have tried everywhere to order one without any success. I ended up registering with Ava in Norway and they said that they would contact me when the washers became available. They duly did contact me last week. Sadly the link to order that they sent me was a dead one. I have attempted to contact them several times since to ask them to clarify and they cannot or do not even respond. Really really shoddy service I'm afraid.

      Sorry to hear that Geoff. I think you are suffering from the 'It's that time of year' effect. Everyone over here is thinking that it is time to get the patio and outside areas sorted out ready for the summer. It happens every year around this time, everyone is buying power washers! :-)

      I have just been in contact with Ava. They tell me that the email advising that the P80 is now available was sent to me in error. They also apologised for not responding to my additional enquiries. The upshot is that they cannot offer a prediction as to when the P80 will be available in the UK. Thomas from Ava did suggest however that it would be much later rather than sooner. I am going to have to reluctantly buy a Karcher K7. A real pity as the P80 looks a real winner.

      according to their site, if your home electric supply drops to 218v then fuse can blow.
      in this case they say swap fuse for 13amp "time delay" fuse. sometimes called "slow blow"

  • @SamFerlauto
    @SamFerlauto 2 года назад

    I believe there is a little bit of false advertising when you put the K7 Compact to the test. When testing with a pressure gauge straight out of the output of the pump I got a Maximum of 2150PSI (148 bar) before it trips out the pressure switch. 8l/minute MAX (480l/hr). Don't get me wrong its still a very powerful unit for an electric single phase but I don't like the fact that all these electric units never really put real specs and get away with it

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  2 года назад

      I can only compare it to my Karcher K7 by actually using it and in my opinion it is a better machine. I do not have the equipment to check the discharge pressure of the pump and would not even consider stripping the unit down to fit a pressure gauge. :-)

    • @SamFerlauto
      @SamFerlauto 2 года назад

      @@RussellPlatten no need to strip down . You just add a gauge with 3/8th quick connect inline. But yes your right its got very good washing power regardless of the psi and l/min. My beef id that the industry put out fake ratings to make it more marketable. Great video . This was the reason I purchased a P60 , which im incredibly impressed with ...Just one question I'm aware that Karcher accessories fit the gun/lance , but what about an extension hose . The P60 comes with 8 meters as standard . Do I need a bespoke Ava extension or would an aftermarket Karcher fit .
    I did some research and the fittings look more like the Bosch SDS Click connect than Karcher . Any feedback would be appreciated..

    • @RussellPlatten

      A Karcher hose would not fit. I just had a look at my Karcher extension hose and it has the two flats machined into the coupling. Ava sell an adapter that will allow a Karcher hose extension to be used. I hope this helps. www.avaofnorway.com/accessories/adapters :-)

      I have just finished using this pressure washer to clean all of my patio areas and pathways (except a small area I could not reach without an extension lead,) two or three hours of washing over several days. I used my Go P55 for the area I could not reach and realised that whilst this machine did the job well, it was slower than the Master P80. I decided to purchase a 15M ava high pressure extension hose to allow me to wash all the areas I needed to. The P80 never blew a fuse. If I plug it into a 30A ringmain circuit through a window, it is fine. It only blows fuses when it is plugged into a spur off the ringmain or an extension lead. To be safe, the P60 will be fine! :-)
