Unusual little cabinet. It looked like 70s post modern and was probably always painted a bright color.

Yes, uppity woman, it is gross paint by today's standards, but in 1975 it was a fun project for a young German man or woman at university, making use of an old piece of furniture from the early 1960s.

It looks like the top of a hutch. I don’t care for the final stain. What would you use this piece for now that you shortened it? Why didn’t you treat the worm hole tracks?

I've got a feeling it was meant to be painted. Unless someone really bothered to remove all of the original finish I don't think the orange paint would have soaked that much into the wood. The doors might have been natural but since the knobs have the same orange paint over bare wood I don't think so.

Dose paint dry the wood out? Or does time just do that?
Were those wood ants or termites holes?
Again great craftsmanship! Blessings and Peace ✝️❤️

the first videos you made you took the time to break everything apart, restore it and put it back together. Now it is all quick fixes and showing off your tools.

    • @chrigunrestauration

I'll take it apart if necessary. The part was stable. Why would I disassemble a solid piece if I don't have to. I got everywhere.

It looks like a lot of work for that little cabinet, but it was a labor of love. It came out great. Question for anyone who knows: where does one buy that very thin veneer in USA? What do I call it when searching because the veneers I have seen online are thicker. Thanks
