- My new restoration video is about an old ash chair with a broken leg and destroyed upholstery. It was my first time restoring a chair. I haven't padded either. I think it turned out OK for my first time. Have fun.

If you go back and look at the burlap layer you removed, you’ll see that the edges were folded before stapling. Cutting a raw edge so close to the staples will ensure that it tears out as soon as you sit on it. The leather on the seat needs to be pulled tighter. Otherwise, pretty good for a first attempt at upholstery.

Right, I learned that over time too.
It might also help to put the staples at a slight angle.
Another thing: The fabric or in this case leather should never be glued to the seat. It needs to move freely. Otherwise it is nearly impossible so smooth it out properly. The front of the seats needs to be free of wrinkles. Folds on the side of the Seat in the back may be ok if done neat and symmetrically.
Keep it up and take your time rather than rushing it! Upholstery needs a lot of practice.

Tip!! A little more time and pulling the leather tighter before stapling, those wrinkles on the seat could be smoothed out, when you come to a corner, folding those edges would also create a smoother better finish.

Wieder ein tolles Ergebnis. Ein Stuhl mit gebrochenem Bein ist nicht einfach zu reparieren, weil ja gerade an der Bruchstelle die meiste Kraft wirkt. Da ist diese Lösung mit dem neuen Stuhlbein wirklich gut getroffen. Die Polsterung ist professionell aufgebaut und selbst ein Fachbetrieb hätte es kaum besser gemacht. Das Leder ist gut gewählt. Das Material ist belastbar, zeitlos und harmoniert mit dem Holz. Das Ergebnis rechtfertigt den hohen Aufwand, den du in das Möbel gesteckt hast. Gratulation dazu.
Vielen dank. Ich hätte wahrscheinlich besser einen geraden Schnitt gemacht anstatt einen schrägen. Dann wäre auch der Domino gerade drin gewesen. Aber nach dem 3. Versuch hatte ich echt Bock mehr weiter zu versuchen. 😊 Grüße aus dem Oberbergischen.
Love the attention to details! Reusing the original material where possible! At the 21:50 mark-with the pictures, I liked the one where the man is teaching his young apprentice the craft! The anvil with the Sparks "splashing" from the strike of the hammer on it-is wonderful! My great-grandpa was a blacksmith by trade in the old country. Обивка сидения очень не аккуратная, её нужно сильнее натягивать и выравнивать чтобы не было складок.
По спинке.
Закрепить обивку можно временно скобой, потом скобу надо удалять.
Обивка гвоздями не аккуратная, ряд пляшет.
Я мастер реставратор мебели.

Wow. I’ve never seen a chair that still had so many layers of previous upholstery on it. I counted 3. You did a great job restoring the chair frame.

I don’t think it was previous upholstery. This type of chair has many layers. They used other scrap of fabric to help keep the spring down as the burlap isn’t strong enough to hold on its own. And the hair can poke through the burlap to easily. All those layers help develop the crown of the seat as well. My 85 YO dad is an upholsterer. He still constructs furniture with all those layers. Of course modern inexpensive chairs just have a bit of jute or nylon webbing and foam. Beautiful craft, both the woodworking and the upholstery.

La tappezzeria necessita ancora della guida di un esperto tappezziere e tanta tanta cura e pazienza.
Ad esempio il cuoio nella parte posteriore dello schienale andrebbe tagliato abbondante e ripiegato e non a filo, perché così non ha gioco e si strappa più facilmente.
La seduta...perfettibile.
