Do I settle for his existing albums and listen to them on repeat with the same amount of admiration and respect as the first time I listened to them? Also yes.
Rebeca Sandstrom Same bro. It’s cool that he won an aria as artist of the decade though. In his speech he said that he would hopefully put out new music this decade, so that’s at least something. We’ll just have to wait for now.

For some reason, this song makes me think of a James Bond theme. Actually, quite a few of his songs do. I mean that in a good way! They have this kind of grand, bombastic, intensely dramatic feeling. Mysterious, romantic, a little dangerous.

Thats exactly how Wally thinks of his works. Also reason why he doesnt like to charge upcoming artists but rather helps them. He never meant to gain the fame he got with that one song. He just wants to make music. Check out his "other" band The Basics.

Gotye's music is a true art. Simple melodies and amazing lyrics are what the current music industry needs: a little culture. I really don't understand why he doesn't have the recognition he deserves.

The first two verses seem as though they're about insecurity surrounding the desires you wish you could suppress.

^This is a verse that's very in character for the video. He's playing the role of this guy on stage saying "What could you possibly want that makes it so hard for you to share? Show your faith in your peers such that they can do so for you!"
Everyone is afraid to take that first step.
Now, the only things that throw me off are these biblical talks and the chorus asking "what do you want FROM US". Perhaps he's speaking to everyone with regards to everyone else?

thats the problem with music these days. You ether create a HIT song that they will overplay your music on the radios for everyone to hear, or they'll completely ignore you because music companies will not pay radio stations tons of money to play your music because it won't earn them money.

I love that all of his songs are so very different from each other. That requires real work, not just inspiration and good production. Wally is by far one of the most interesting and eclectic musicians I have ever heard. Love it!

Gotye never seizes to amaze me with his music and videos. I can only imagine the awesome crazy shit going on in his brilliant head. He's a great example of the very few "artists" that are actually artists nowadays. He pours his heart and mind into his music and then thinks of these creative, unique videos togo with them. One of them even made me cry (Bronte). I seldom see this kind of talent in the mainstream music industry. Gotye FTW.

Anyone listening in November 2019?
I’ve been hooked on Gotye since 2017, I know it’s not that long, but I’ve dug through so many different explanations and different albums, and by far, this is the eeriest of them all-I’ve been so enthralled by this music and if he ever decided to drop a new album or decide to spontaneously go on tour (not very likely, but it’s good to keep hopes up) I would drop everything to listen to him perform anything again. Love his music and what he’s put into the world, despite not having any current impact. I love everything that’s been put out.
