Nope, the reason the Story is bad is because they will sell the rest as DLC. This was confirmed already. Which is why i am not buying it until they release a Full versions with all DLCs included. Just UBISOFT being Ubisoft….. no wonder people made fun of them when Elden Rings came out. They are incapable of releasing a full game experience without additional micro-transactions.

In defense of the stealth and the eagle eyed enemies, it'd be impossible not to see the 8ft tall blue person walking around a grey and brown industrial area
That's true but making games too realistic isn't necessarily good if it affects the inteded gameplay feature. For example, random number generators are actually biased in games to make it feel better for our brain because for some reason we can't grasp the fact that the same number can appear 5 times in a row.
The thing I love the most that all the other far cry games lacked was random npc interaction. When coming up to other na'vi it's actually rewarding to talk to them cause you can get some high level gear or ingredients that can make the next outpost easier for sure. Definitely a good mechanic that I like.
They are not helpless as some of the AI in the Far Cry games but they also don't really do anything. They just stand around. I have not once seen them involve themselves into any combat. None.
@@Hirnlego999 tho I miss the random fights from NPCs it makes sense why they don't from a lore perspective. The forest na'vi are pretty darn peaceful so it makes sense. I've only really seen them hunting.
I've been playing the game since yesterday on Xbox Series X and it's been super impressive and beautiful. I love Far Cry so this is perfect for me so far.
The first game from 2009 was fun because you could choose in some point between joining either the Na'vi or stay with the RDA. So you had 2 campaigns as a Na'vi or human and they gave vehicles or mounts depending on your side. I wish they kept this in this game as well.
@@missake212 I mean yeah that’s the whole point I’m talking about… rdr2 is like playing gta in old times and this game will likely be like playing far cry in an avatar universe… similar gameplay, similar graphics, similar cut scenes. Not a bad thing necessarily.
A big thing for me is that there isn't a third-person option, and when I looked into it earlier this year, it seemed to be to do with graphics or something. The 2009 Avatar was so satisfyingly for me as a kid, because when you unlocked new armour etc. you could see it and it felt sick. I feel like stealth would also work better with third person.
Literally….like third person would make the game much more enjoyable seems like they only cared about the graphics and details rather than the gameplay itself
@@kronic4477 So I gave in and bought it... But I'm actually really enjoying it!? The first couple hours is slightly "meeeh", but after that it does get better A LOT and quickly. I do honestly feel that the stealth is pretty fun still in first-person, and I think being able to fly around or ride on land - when you unlock both through missions - in third-person makes up for main-first-person choice. Note - My brother got the game included in a PC deal so I tried it out before buying it on console... If you decide to buy it... DON'T CHOOSE THE MALE VOICE WHEN CUSTOMISING YOUR CHARACTER. I played the original game so much as a kid. Probably close to 10 play throughs with so much extra time just exploring. From what I remember, the story wasn't great by any means. But just being in the world of Pandora was what i loved, and i am so excited to play this game just to experience the world even more
Same here and the like ‘open world’ but wasn’t even that open world but I loved it can’t imagine how great it is in this seeing the way you can fly to the floating islands and stuff
@@Hocus4L If you haven't gotten the game yet, I really recommend doing so. I literally upgraded my entire PC just to make the game as beautiful as possible. Thinking back to the original game's limited "open world" really puts into perspective how huge the new game feels. The ability to soar over the different regions of Pandora on your banshee is what made me fall in love with Avatar and it is so nice to be able to do that in a true open world.
Glad I found my people! Yes this was me too! I’ve already played and completed the new avatar game, hopefully you have as well. I want to say that I liked the story but I understand why people think it’s mid. I haven’t been able to stop playing though, it’s like i’m restarting my Avatar phase all over again.
@alucard624 what were you expecting? A playable sequel to the second film? This has always been marketed as secondary canon and a secondary story to what goes on in the movies lol maybe don't have insane expectations and you wouldn't be so butthurt
I've not got very far in the game yet, but I've enjoyed the gameplay, the visuals and the worldbuilding so far. The only complaint I'd say I have as of this point, is the awful checkpoint system and the lack of manual saving. I was doing one of the sidequests, where you have to take out some RDA soldiers and investigate a cave that has poisonous gas, so you eat a porridge to prevent yourself from taking damage. After you exit the cave though, you get ambushed by more RDA soldiers and the first few attempts I made at completing the quest, I was torn to shreds as soon as I exited the cave and I had to restart the whole quest each time. Like, they really couldn't have made the checkpoint be after I took out the first lot of enemies, or anything.
I love the hell outta Avatar. Yes, I know it’s generic Space Pocahontas story and there isn’t much to that. But Cameron’s world building is insane. I’m a sucker for this world.
Thanks, Jake. I was on the fence about this game. The world looks great, but the combat, especially those big blue weapon wheels, had me on the back heel. But you got me leaning forward now.
Me personally I love the way the game looks and all the outside stuff you can do to really capture the world of pandora. The story is quite mid and the combat is annoying at points, but I really do enjoy playing. The one real complaint I have is that you can’t manually save your progress.
what outside stuff u talkin bout? There's literally nothing to do except "walk-to-a-b-c-and-back"-Quests, a few generic and copied outposts and the same cooking materials over and over.
Your problems with the game were, quite frankly, things I expected. I still want to play the game, and I love your analysis and talking about the things we as gamers care about.

@@errolteichert3052 Someone has probably told you this before, but you are funding mediocrity. By not funding (and assuming others doesn't either), Ubisoft would be forced to make a better game, a better Avatar game. You are basically telling them. "Ubisoft, shi te on me, I like garbage". They are exploiting your preference for Avatar, and just replacing humans with blue people. Gamers having no expectations on the products they buy is the reason why so much of the current games being released suck. That's why I care, and that's why you should care. This absolutely seems like a fantastic game, if it was like 50% cheaper. What is offered in terms of story, combat, overall interactables and whatnot seems quite limited. What they really have going for them is the graphics and map. I was super excited for this game, but knowing ubisoft and how expensive they love to make their new games, I won't be getting this for a few years at best. I always just do the 15 bucks ubisoft subscription...... its perfect for games like this. I would never pay full price for many or any Ubisoft games.... probably will only play this for a day or 2 then get board.....
the problem is that they have to fill the world MANUALLY with points of interests, huge fauna and thought out questlines instead of lazy run 'from a to b to c and back' and gather the same cooking materials over and over while clearing generic outposts. Totally forgot this game was coming out. Burnt out on FC and weirdly, despite the new skin this doesn't look hugely different gameplay wise to that series.
The amount of outposts in FC6 were outrageous 😂 And to know nothing much changes even after u "saved" the country just demotivating and made me feel so pointless the whole way through
It looks stunning. Gives me Far Cry Primal vibes, a game I loved because it was so deeply immersive and atmospheric, and made you feel like you were really there.
I agree with the battle scenes being a bit chaotic, that could be tightened up in later patches as well as making stealth more effective playstyle. I'm only a few hrs into the game but am impressed with what it is so far over all and can say it is enjoyable and not utterly broken.
Not specific to this game, but I wanted to share my sentiments on my overall experience with your channel. With a busy schedule, finding worthwhile games is crucial, and your videos have become my go-to guide. Ideally, I'd do in-depth research, but time constraints make that tough. Your content has been spot-on, and I've made great choices based on your recommendations. Thanks a bunch, and wishing you happy holidays!
I’ve been with Gameranx for nearly a decade and they’ve become my go to, first choice for gaming reviews. I’ll watch Gamespot and IGN, but Gameranx is the first choice with valuable opinions.
sometimes its better if you have reviewers which dont get early review copies, often that means they cant say many bad things about the game or they lose access to that. Thats why worthabuy rarely gets those.
@_Luluko_ I know what you mean, but Gameranx always have given a fair, straight opinion and even say when they have a biased opinion (Metal Gear Solid)
i guess you dont know how the internet works, them not having review copies is a smart move. with a channel size like that they could. but choose not to. why? lets say no matter how unbiased an review is. but lets say they something that maybe not all agree on. maybe praising a game. what do you think people will say. ohhhh they are bought by blah blah, they have to say that blah blah blah. even if you dont agree with them right now you cant say that they are bought. once they accept review copies, even if its not true people will use that argument.
Just started the game and I am in LOVE! I play on the ps5 and it is just amaing to look at. The gameplay is smooth and really fun! As an avatar fan, GET IT
I think I’m just excited to be in the world this game put together. Whether it’s an in depth story or not, spending countless hours in the world of pandora seems like a very fun thing to do. Definitely checking it out
Honestly with the details and freedom in this game it looks amazing. It's what Anthem should have been. Looking forward to flying around in this honestly.
Jesus Christ you obviously haven't watched avatar then and you have to chime in like it's identity needs to be replaced with modern weapons for tribes xD they do get rifles and sling traps that go boom
I’m not really huge into the Avatar thing but that being said the game does look interesting. The freedom they give for exploration sounds fun, I just wonder how far that goes before it gets boring. I might check this out after a while or if the reviews/ word of mouth make it a little more appealing.

I think this game will be one of those games you kinda have to wait for them to iron out some bugs and balance some AI settings, all in an update and then I'll buy it. This game looks amazing and I can't wait to play it
I am 10 hours in and I absolutely love the game, just the fact of being able to wander across pandoras vegetation is worth the ticket for me. Totally recommend it ❤,as for the gameplay , same old same old as all the other 1000 open world game out there. But the world is beautiful in every sense you can just admire the landscape without moving.
From other reviews I've seen, i think stealth works best when the environment allows it. Like night time rains Also its not completely single player. Its co-op too
This game looks cool, but the way you were talking about how the emotional scenes didn’t hit you, and learning about the areas and the different tribes got me thinking. What if there was a game like this but it was based on non contacted tribes being invaded by 1st world countries for some sort of precious/rare material that they have exclusive access to.
I've been playing this on the ps5 for about a week now, and it runs great for both fidelity and performance I've had one problem where a quest item didn't spawn but a quick reload fixed it. The only thing for me is that I wish they had utilized the adaptive triggers more but that's not real important for game play
It looks awesome but I don't love that there appears to be no mini map.... I get that some people prefer not having one but just give the option to turn it off or something.

I like that they pretty much made this year’s Far Cry the Avatar game. I wouldn’t mind a Punisher game taking the place of a new Ghost Recon. Taking existing franchises and kind of refreshing them with a known property. Or say DareDevil or something being the next Assassin’s Creed, without the killing of course.

I'm watching reviews to decide whether I want to plop down $70 for this game. I know it look really cool, and I know creating any gaming world takes a lot of work for a lot of people to bring it all together. For me, the UI is important, particularly if most of the controls are standard keystrokes, rather than like many games, having their own UI keystrokes which makes you have to learn all that before you can truly get immersed in the world. I don't have VR, but I bet this would be a great game to explore the world in VR. Still undecided whether I will get it or not.

LOVE the movies, gorgeous landscape, breath taking moments! Lost my marbles when I found out that Ubisoft was in the works of making this game. Glad to hear that we will experience what the movies brought to the viewers that the gamers will be able to experience. Being able to live among the Na'vi, own one of the mounts and explore the world is what I wanted from the game but the combat to be optional then you said it's like Far Cry I'm like well shit. Can't wait to start playing this on PC, GLAD to hear even on low settings the graphics are amazing.
Great review! Just a suggestion though, I think it’s worth mentioning how Ubisoft+ features every fresh release from day one, even on console. Not many players know about this, but waiting for 2-3 titles, buying a month of U+ and getting through them is by far the most efficient way to experience them in my opinion. This might work for others too
Yup for Ubisoft games we're they are very repetitive just buy a month burn out then wait months for new games and buy another month to get the fix in if you miss their formulas
Ubisoft + in my country is 27 dollars. For a month. Unless you’re driving all your time into the Ubisoft game you probably won’t finish it. My recommendation is to just wait until it’s on special for half the price. Most far cry games have done that already and the assassins creed ones aren’t far behind.
Great job explaining the game. I will say that the expectations for this got crushed. It looked like Connor from AC 3 put into Fallout 4. I expected that your human training would allow you to not only use rifles, but heavy weapons, explosives and the War frame / vehicles. Sure you pull a guy out of them, but afterwards I want to use the mechs and the weapons there equipped with. I was hoping for a variety of animal mounts and use of the helicopter vehicles that the enemy uses. Plus it would add to the natives in the area and story if they taught you there ways and you show them how to use the human resources; like generators, energy shields, and traps. Mostly because I wanted to see the Navi evolve in having to deal with the human changing there planet. I have zero desire to buy a straight Avatar survival/crafting game without a connection to the moves and that moves the series forward.
It’s a visually stunning game, and I generally love the far cry formula of capturing outposts. On the flip side, I don’t care about the story at all, it just feels like I’m an eco-warrior. Capturing outposts is fun, but the big bases can be a pain. Oh, the enemy mech moved to scratch their nose, and you didn’t one shot their weak point? Now the whole base knows where you are, even though nobody saw you, and they take half the completion loot…..cool.
The game set out to recreate the majesty of Pandora for fans of the series On that, it delivered. In other areas it's more mixed (combat could be better, we both agree on that), but although far from prefect, it came through on the area fans wanted most: to experience Pandora.
I agree! I'm hoping one day we'll get an avatar game something like a prequel from before the humans came around. Exploring, helping other Na'vi, starting a family type stuff. I really would just like to enjoy the world and the people.
@@ironbat7143because its arguably a better experience. Who doesnt want to use all the cool equipment, guns, and vehicles we saw in the movies. Original Avatar game did it perfectly, you could choose to just be a soldier following orders or go rogue and join the Navi as either a newly transformed Navi or a human that didnt go through the transformation.
I think one thing I want to know personally is what all can you tame in this game? The newer far cry’s you can tame a lot of creatures from a bear and stuff in 5 and in Primal a Sabertooth and wolf. I want to know is there a lot of tamable creatures in this game or is it just the banshee and the horse you learn to ride?
looks beautiful def need alot of things worked on and added in the future but i have hope that they will put more love into this game throughout its runtime
Game is pretty great! Try explore mode, you pay way more attention to the environment and each little thing feels far more rewarding! Oh and PS5 version is smooth as silk! Honestly mind blowing.

i always like the world of Avatar. in fact when Anthem was first reveal i was only hype about the game because the world remind me of Pandora with those giant canopee. i played a lot of the first game on my psp back in the days and i really enjoyed it. i'm a big fan of Far cry 3 and i'm not sick of the formula yet as i haven't played FC5 et 6 so i haven't touch the far cry formula in a decade, no worry on that side. i must now pray for my GPU to survive this.
I wonder how this would translate into VR. The archery alone would make this so much fun. Also, you really should had shown that weapon wheel menu from the start. That was shouts Ubisoft Far Cry to me. And is there some sort of face illumination going on when you talk to people? It seems very apparent here than in other games
Around 10:25 you mention it's a complete single player game, however I thought there was the option to play it co-op? I never heard co-op being mentioned so I had to look it up but it got confirmed on the ubisoft site. Still hate microtransactions tho :)
The Avatar films really better capture different levels of consciousness in a way that seems to resonate quite well with international audiences. Be interesting to see how this game does overseas.
Im a big fan of Avatar and this is AWESOME! but something im kinda sad about is that there isn't a vr version so you cant experience it like your actually there. But maybe in the future there will be, i dont know but i really hope there will!
Picked up Avatar Frontiers of Pandora on PS5 and man the graphics are absolutely stunning! It’s the first game since Horizon Forbidden West that has blown me, the world of Pandora is so lush, the natural environment, lighting is top notch. Flying around on the Ikran is a treat, Far Cry Primal is one of my all time favorite games and Avatar Frontiers of Pandora captures the vibe of that game perfectly. 😊
As someone who actually rather likes the Ubisoft formula, Im quite happy. I don’t know why each game it’s different enough for me and I kinda like the patters. I like the fact there’s a tone of “capture this area” cause I’m forced to be creative to have fun and have the opportunity to try new tricks
I had the same issues with stealth when I tried Far Cry 5. The only ones I had played at that point were 4 and then 3 which it was set up where I could take out entire bases using stealth much easier, in 5 I can rarely seem to pull it off.
I only played 4 and loved the stealth approach, wanted to play 5 at some point now. So stealth isn't working so well? In 4 I would just snipe out entire bases silently.

Is it better? The last one had two different campaigns! multiple weapons for both sides! Multiple mounts and vehicles for both sides! Plus it had that cool mini strategy game built in
Been spending several hours in the game, finally got to the part where fly, which was surprisingly immersive. The story is kind of generic, but I actually like the premise. One story event made me pretty emotional already. I enjoy the Avatar movies, but the story and themes are very obviously pulled from native american experiences. I love the general feel that all life is connected somehow. The graphics sometimes feel next gen and then sometimes feel really dated. Combat was surprisingly difficult for me. I came from playing Cyberpunk on medium difficulty, barely ever dying to playing this game on medium difficult and dying over and over again. I know I am only in the first part of the map and I'm getting brick walled into staying there. I thought the game was completely open, but it is not. It is obvious I am unable to access 2/3 of the map at this point. I am concerned that the map is going to look all the same. Eventually you've seen the same 5 animals and the same 12 different plants. I am really enjoying the game and it's world, but there are some issues for sure. I would not pay full price for htis. I have ubisoft+ so I didn't buy thre game.

That's true but making games too realistic isn't necessarily good if it affects the inteded gameplay feature. For example, random number generators are actually biased in games to make it feel better for our brain because for some reason we can't grasp the fact that the same number can appear 5 times in a row.

You are like me, only thing keeping me from buying the game is the fact that it's not third person like the old game

That one was a total bummer.

Yea I'm getting ubu+ for this one
thank you for this information friend, genuinely had no idea, U+ it is for me
Ubisoft + in my country is 27 dollars.
You can use various human weapons in the game, including a bazooka, assault rifle and shotgun, and more.
@@karljohan3989ah yes let's just forget about all those other points he brought up that should of been in the game.
The game set out to recreate the majesty of Pandora for fans of the series
On that, it delivered.
In other areas it's more mixed (combat could be better, we both agree on that), but although far from prefect, it came through on the area fans wanted most: to experience Pandora.
Honestly I'd buy an Avatar game where there's little combat and it's mostly exploring the world and meeting other Na'vi.

I'm surprised you didn't touch on the co-op availability, this is a big selling point for me.

10:25 why did you call it completely single player game, if it has coop?
If it is a 3rd person game, I'll buy it
Honestly Jake, you do a really really good job Always being neutral in your videos. Like you know your opinion, and then discuss what others may like about something you don't. It's why myself and others I've met trust you for a, sort of review. Hope this never changes man, a rarity I wish wasn't rare.
No mention of the co-op? How does it work? How does it feel? Is it fun to play with a friend?
Literally Far cry Primal with blue people.
I heard the main story is only 10-15 hour long.
In this day and age? Gentlemen, I expect at least a 30 hr. storyline. Perhaps I desire too much.
(45-55h for completionist)
wtf why do you want every game to take that long… that’s not realistic and unfun if every game takes months to get close to finish
@@LucidLuka it’s unrealistic for most games; However, for an open world game, I don’t think it is.
I always break down the cost of a game, to how much I payed. I’m generally happy if I get 1 dollar per hour. 60 bucks for 15 hours, isn’t my jam.
@@moosechuckle 15 great hours is better that 45 okay hours.
then you'll either get games that are half as good, or take twice as long to come out. pick one
Nah not all games need to be that long. Especially Ubisoft games which have a tendency to overstay their welcome
If your stealthing a playthrough immediately only spend points into hunter and get the silent running perk then your a 10 foot tall blue shadow that enemies can only see but never hear it's been amazing in my playthrough
Nice review jake you have officially been my go to reviewer when a new game comes out. Well done buddy
Just because you can make games look good these days doesn't mean it will be anywhere near that. Just a pitty to see the source material not being taken to its full potential. Looks amazing, can't ignore that.
For info, it’s not completely single player, it’s optional co-op (or something online play)
At least it's better than the last one.
Is it better? The last one had two different campaigns! multiple weapons for both sides! Multiple mounts and vehicles for both sides! Plus it had that cool mini strategy game built in
I loved the first one
I promise you it is NOT the same! I been to other biomes
The whole avatar franchise is based off of native experiences
I'm here a year later, bought it on Black Friday for 20$ and came to watch reviews after the act... lol
Happy to learn it is made by Motive and it's a Far Cry type of game!
This has to be the most graphically impressive game i have ever seen.
“GTA VI has entered the chat”
@@dylanharrison9388it’s not out yet downgrades always happen
Love when guns have a "good, heavy duty like chunka chunka" feel to them; thanks for the review! Played the original game when I was a kid.
If you like avatar, please. I would say play this game, it’s fun to just fly or run, fighting is actually fun, depending on your mindset, this game can be so immersive.
The only videos I trust when it comes to games.
Straight up Gameplay ✔️
First impressions ✔️
Gameranx delivering great reviews ✔️
Stealth is actually good. Not amazing, but it is very possible to do outposts in full stealth. I’ve managed to do 4 or three of them already without many problems. Even managed to pull it off in the level 12 one to the east of Kinglor Forest when I was level 9 lol
Not expecting much from this game. Will I be wrong? Let's find out 😂
u are definetly not wrong about that! it will be a mediocre game selling for a ridicoulus price xD
