Half-Life IS a first person shooter, you shoot a lotta aliens there. The mean part of the question is the fact that the tech evolved so fucking fast after Doom and Quake, like, every game was such a giant leap in so little time that its insane and hard to believe how things change in like 10 years.
When I think of Half-Life, I think of Gordon holding the crowbar or whatever that is. The deepest exposure I got to the game was an old RUclips series called "Freeman's Mind", but I absolutely have blocked the usage of guns in the game in my head, lol. I guess I just envision everything in the game being beaten with a crowbar 😅
I was absolutely mind-blown they tried to debate whether or not it qualified as an FPS. Like, what else do you do in that game? Solve puzzles and shoot stuff.
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley It is a very old game even if it hurts me to say it. It actually runs on a modified Quake engine and stuff, it all leads back to Quake man. There's a lot of cool videos covering the history of FPS games and stuff. But yeah, you got Handguns, Shotguns, Machineguns, Rocket Launchers, an Alien Hand, Little Aliens that you can throw that can attack you aswell, grenades and etc. If you ever curious about it, play Black Mesa, its a fan remake sanctioned by Valve itself, they did a really great job and its a good example of a Remake done right, by the fans, for the fans. That said, Quiz is wrong, first FPS that had a somewhat deep plot was ''Marathon'', a Mac exclusive game, made by Bungie themselves, which are the Halo people. There's a lot of Halo in the Marathon series, down to Alien races fighting themselves due to plot. Half Life is obviously more popular tho'.
its not even arguable that it is a FPS, not really sure what Connor was even suggesting, but then he also then said he never played it so I guess that makes sense.
This is genuinely one of the most entertaining and well balanced "Tests" they've done in any of these streams. Usually they try too hard to be really difficult or they put too many meme questions. This one was just the right amount of challenging where it made me want to participate myself.
Playing along, I got the last question right by complete accident. I was trying to think of Joey's answer, but Connor's answer came to my mind instead. I don't even know why, but a point's a point. Being ignorant in music paid off... I really like these quiz streams, they're a lot of fun to watch. My final score was 9, though I had two shaky answers so maybe it's really 7. Ah well, doesn't matter.
It's funny cause that word in Portuguese is almost the same but every game with Portuguese translation instead of using sneak or stealth uses the word furtive for any stealth actions so it's quite a normal word for us
@@wave1090 I was gonna say, that is how it works for catholics. The whole idea is that you invite God into your body so your "soul can be saved" by consuming the literal body of Jesus Christ.
@@eleonarcrimson858 Technically it's a means of grace, as in something that grants you the benefits of Christ's work on the cross, including things like forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and strength to go about your daily life in the service of God. So technically it totally does make you immortal. Does it make you into God? Well Eastern Orthodox churches teach an integral part of the Christian life is becoming one with God, and the Lord's Supper is part of that, so in their view, kinda, in a very slight way.
Yeah, IIRC they mentioned maybe doing it last year but nothing happened. Also, I know Joey seemed skeptical as he mentioned he played one once and wasn’t into it, but I think these sorts of game works best with a good DM and a group that syncs well so I’m hoping Joey has a better experience this time.

I actually wrote a paper in college on the SHH gene. It was super fun to present in class. It also controls the developmental aspect of the brain. Sidenote, I believe it was called the vidmaster challenge.
We talk shit about Connor being monke, but I swear he's the most overall skilled (just recalling the drifting special) and knowledgeable out of the boys. Edit: nvm he doesnt know Half Life 1 is a shooter wtf
C418's cat being the Ghast is some of the most deep memory that immediately resurfaced shit I've ever had. Edit: Take2/Rockstar for GTA? I know that they for sure embraced it. I wish I had more time to make it to their stream to be a Twitch Chat-andy. Eve Online has to be it, I was thinking Daggerfall, but Minecraft is bigger than Daggerfall, because DF is the size of Great Britain, Minecraft is sever earths large. But eve is Galaxy scale. Half-Life is the only thing that seems right for narrative FPS. Valve is easily one of the most consistently "revolutionary" game developers. Even Steam is revolutionary in the realm of digital game retailer. ALSO half life is a shooter, counter strike is literally a mod that uses things you use a lot in game. Far from a stretch for qualifying as a FPS.
Connor finally get the dub, but after last week episode, this feels tame. It might be hard to top the oceanic pile salt from Connor and Joey's smelling sock moment.
"I've never heard of the first one, Electronic Arts." I mean, if you've never heard of EA, Joey, your life must be full of joy and you have a lot more expendable income than most gamers.
I realize its been awhile since this video uploaded but I would recommend you look into the story behind the Aerosmith Guitar Hero game, its actually really interesting! Not only did they make more money from that game than any other album, but since they recorded their music only on one track (and guitar hero needed separate tracks for like vocals and instrumentation and such) they went out and found authentic instruments from when they originally recorded the songs, got together and basically made covers of ALL of their own songs for the game. So the songs are different because they were recorded in a different way
With bonus points, I got 20. Thank you AVGN, Guru Larry, and DYKG! For question 2, I thought of the Satellaview. For question 15, I thought of EA with Dante's Inferno, but I was way off with the date.
On their opinion on IMAX, I think they just sat too close. Because sitting perfectly in the middle covers your entire vision and it was so amazing. At worst, I had to move my eyeballs around, but I had the complete picture all within by periphery. Most people aren't that conscious of what seats they take. Always the middle, and remember, too close is worse than too far.
Exactly. Due to a completely packed theater, I had to sit up front back when I saw Black Panther, making it an awful experience both because of my seat spot (when you sit that close, you're looking up at the screen, not directly at it or down on it) and also because someone and their friend thought, "Yes, this is the movie we will bring all of our children to!" They talked and shouted during everything. Their one, very tiny redeeming moment was at the end where the inevitable love interests kiss and in that brief moment of finally some quiet, the kids all go "EWWWWWWW!", making the entire theater burst out laughing. It was adorable...but I'd be happy to lose that moment to never have had those kids there in the first place.

The PS2 was cheaper than most DVD players at a time when people started upgrading from VHS to DVD. It was a big brain move from Sony, assuming that they didn't sell the console as a lossleader.
Demon Dice is a great DM, saw a TTRPG campaign she mastered last year (though under a different name 😅) and it was great how well she prepared and explained!
When they started asking what OLED stands for I thought they were just joking around and when I realized they were serious it hit me like a truck. I really am a nerd.
In America the prices at theaters are rigged meaning the cheapest are more expensive than they should be, so it's only like 50 cents from small to medium, and then 50 more cents to large, so it's only one dollar more from small to large, and the small is like 5 dollars, so it's only 6 for a large, that's why people always buy the large, you get far more by comparison, cost effectiveness.
@@samreid3417 It's cost effective because if lets say you were buying something small at 5 dollars that was lets say 20oz, if it costs 6 dollars to get something at 40oz the price per ounce goes down dramatically in that one dollar more.
I got 6. I psyched myself out the last question by forgetting that Aerosmith had their own entire version of the game and guessed Journey 🤦♂ But at least I'm half a point more gamer than Garnt, so I'll take comfort in that.
Popcorn is typically big in America cause the cinema is usually a group experience. Then the refill is usually for people that eat through the whole bucket, and then need more. Also cause a lot of people like to take the popcorn home with them so they get a refill and then head out after the movie
I remember playing Oregon Trail on DOS in kindergarten. Our favorite part was building the wagon and shooting the buffalo. It's was all arrow keys and space bar.
I didn't like HL2 and its DLCs becuase of their puzzle aspects, but still it's very much a first person shooter as much as Street Fighter is a fighting game
I'm laughing at their bafflement over large-sized popcorn because it implies they've either never been to a cinema with a group of people or the thought of sharing their popcorn has never crossed their minds.
I'm glad Ashley pointed out that DragonForce is more metal than rock, if it was DF the question would be misleading since it said "Classic rock" - DragonForce is neither classic, nor rock. It's power/speed metal.
I remember this one time, I went to this local theater, really small place to go watch Civil War and I befriended one of the clerks behind the concession stand and he recognized me before I came into the theater and asked if I wanted some free popcorn. I was like 👀 Absolutely I do! And he then told me it take a few minutes but once the trailers start, come see me and I'll get you the popcorn. Lil' sketch, but I was like, screw it - I just got out of college, I need all the discounts! The trailers start and I go to the concession stand and I'll never forget how proud this man looked as he pulled out a literal clear garbage bag size of popcorn for me and my then boyfriend at the time. Needless to say, if I had finished that I'm pretty sure I would have died from the sheer amount of salt intake alone. Also for those who are curious, I was in America when this happened. 😂
My older brother worked for a movie theater in high school and frequently brought home enormous bags of popcorn. Popcorn is so cheap, theaters would rather always have some ready and risk it going to waste than to not immediately have it available for customers at all times.
The 24h strream and an TRPG stream with Karen? I'm looking for the VODs (because most of the time you guys stream when I'm on work) This will be so awesome! :D
Imagine walking 2000 miles, or 3218 kilometers, probably losing a couple family members and then finally settling down in Oregon and then 200 years later You just get roasted on a podcast, I think there's something really beautiful in that.
56:38 i kinda want garnt to fight that arguement and see how the boys will react / 1:03:30 Garnts reaction is gold lmao / 1:06:59 Garnt trying so hard to get a point, poor guy /
The funny thing about IMAX is that it's actually a less wide aspect ratio than standard. They say it "unlocks more of the movie" or some bs but it's just so funny how we've started to revert back away from widescreen.

By the time you get popcorn/snacks & drinks in America it's like $20+ too... We stopped buying anything besides the tickets because its basically the price of going out to eat before or after the movie. Why eat a giant popcorn & ruin your appetite when you can just eat actual food for a similar price.
It’s funny, the moment they mentioned about the 90s game that revolutionised first person shooters and narrative gameplay it took my mind about two seconds before I heard in my head “Welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System”
Going to the IMAX the key is finding the best seats which is in the middle, me and my friend will only go to see something at IMAX if we get the middles seats. I don't eat at the theater anymore. I will always go to a restaurant because I rather have real food for the price they charge at the theater.
I think it would be pretty cool if you guys could play this board game called "Rising Sun" and hey you guessed it, its set in feudal japan. Its a war game with a total of 3 rounds aka "seasons" where the players have multiple turns to do actions such as summoning their troops, moving their troops, worshipping a god to get benefits. Each player has to choose a clan to be associated with, different clans have different abilities or traits. At the start of each round you can also choose to ally with another player and of course betraying your ally is also one of the actions you could do. There are 3 phases in each season: the preparation phase, kami phase and war phase. The prep phase as the name suggests is when the players get to have their turns for their actions. The kami phase is when the players get their benefits from worshipping the different gods. The war phase is when the players wage war against each other if their troops are in the same prefecture that a war is taking place in. You can get various benefits from actions in the war such as obtaining points. The end goal of this game is to have the most amount of points. The game can have a maximum of 5 players(6 if you buy the expansion pack) so even Meilyne or Ashley or even Chris could come play LOL. My explanation of the game is really butchering the game and there are a lot of details and rules I have missed but the game is really just that detailed. You guys should take a look at the rules for a while to understand the game better. Each game does take quite long, it could take 2-6 hours so I would suggest playing a game or two first before streaming it or you could just learn the game as you play.

I love how you can so easily notice who started with Dark Souls and who started with Elden Ring, and I'm very happy that the oh so popular meme message has been exposed to more audiences through Elden Ring. Now, I wait for an ancient, bass boosted, chaos zweihander wielding dad.
To be fair, I've played a ton of DS1 and Bloodborne, but never touched DS2 and never finished DS3. I thought that the meme was from Elden Ring just because of how prominent fingers are as a theme in that game. I didn't know that "finger" was a selectable word before Elden Ring because I largely ignore the player messages anyway.
Okay idk if this is just where I am in America, but typically the large popcorn was only bought by families and we ask for small boxes to distribute to children. With the free refill it was a good amount for my family of 5 and a lot cheaper than buying a bunch of small popcorn. But I think that is why our large popcorn is so big.
Such a fun quiz that I was too lazy to play along with this time :P amusingly, despite being more of a gamer than other stuff, think I'd have done worse at this than most cause I don't care for most of the games in it. At least not enough to remember shit about it.
Yeah quizes like these are really more about an interest in games and game development rather than being a gamer^^ You could play city-building games like Anno, SimCity and Cities Skylines for 20.000 hours over 20 years and while very much being a gamer still getting 0 points on this quiz if you only play and don't hear or read about other game genres

The fact that Connor is a self-proclaimed FPS gamer but doesn't even know Half-Life is an fps game hurts me more than it should

Well Eastern Orthodox churches teach an integral part of the Christian life is becoming one with God, and the Lord's Supper is part of that, so in their view, kinda, in a very slight way.

But it’s not cost effective it’s unlimited though
@@samreid3417 It's cost effective because if lets say you were buying something small at 5 dollars that was lets say 20oz, if it costs 6 dollars to get something at 40oz the price per ounce goes down dramatically in that one dollar more.

Popcorn is typically big in America cause the cinema is usually a group experience. Then the refill is usually for people that eat through the whole bucket, and then need more. Also cause a lot of people like to take the popcorn home with them so they get a refill and then head out after the movie

I think everyone could have guessed it was in america... not even cuz "haha merica fat", it just sounds like an american thing to do lmao
My older brother worked for a movie theater in high school and frequently brought home enormous bags of popcorn. Popcorn is so cheap, theaters would rather always have some ready and risk it going to waste than to not immediately have it available for customers at all times.
Did you figure out why he was eager to have you guys fed with popcorn? Do they make too much of that shit that they don't wanna waste it?

The funny thing about IMAX is that it's actually a less wide aspect ratio than standard. They say it "unlocks more of the movie" or some bs but it's just so funny how we've started to revert back away from widescreen.

Why eat a giant popcorn & ruin your appetite when you can just eat actual food for a similar price.
As a caver, can confirm that my friends and I do the halo theme every time we’re in a cave
