Bloody hell, that J-ish bass with the burl and active electronics is extremely nice and sounds excellent clean and with that low-mid gain drive in the intro
I have a few joyo's in my collection- the worst of them is at least as good as any DOD or Boss. The octave fuzz that may or may not pick up Mexican radio stations depending on the weather? That one's not for sale.. ever....
I think it would be better to put the name "JOYO R-30 TIDAL WAVE" of this preamp in the description column.

Sounds good, although the extreme distortion is probably not something I would ever use.
So here's a good question, I know he mentioned the CAB SIM on the XLR out, but does that include the 1/4" out or is it unaffected in that regard?

I can't speak for this pedal firsthand, but based on experience with the Monomyth I'd say the cab sim is only on the XLR out.
Loved my joyo monomyth for two weeks, then rh switch stopped working, rendering useless, sent it back, great sound but we need reliability. As an engineer I would have been able to fix. It's all a balance I suppose.
Had a similar experience with mine. Cab sim and ground lift stopped working. Maybe I got a dud but even for $70 on sale I thought it was just ok.
The XLR and 1/4" out started shrieking on mine. It would work fine then sounded like it was possessed by a techno-banshee and repeat. Never had a problem with the headphone output, really weird. Returned it.
The Double Thruster on the other hand has been awesome.
Testing budget pedals with not so budget basses....

So? Nice basses sound pretty much the same as cheap ones when going through any kind of signal processor. They are just nicer to play and set up correctly out of the box.

@@redato Affordable basses can have preamps too - look at the price of a boost or light overdrive pedal and add it to the price of a budget bass. It might be more expensive, but not by a huge amount.
Unless you're buying super shit cheap basses then they all sound decent, the craftmanship/exotic woods that makes the expensive ones mainly make them more desirable because we like shiny things and buy with our eyes.
If your fingers don't do the job your bass is irrelevant 😂

In the thomann shop it is not listed. I am sure, that in a few days or weeks they will offer it. The pedal you see in the thomann link is a darkglass alpha omega clone the r-26 Monomyth pedal. The Monymyth sometimes shows some problems, makes a ugly Beep. Hands off so long if they don't fix it.

When Joyo makes an R-Series Chorus for bass, I will make a complete pedalboard with their bass pedals
There's the R-22 Narcissus. It's not a "Bass" chorus, but it sounds great on my board. I pretty much have a Joyo only pedal board... Joyo tuner, Scylla, Double Thruster, Narcisuss... just waiting on the Tidal Wave to come to replace the Behringer BDI21 I've been using.
I heard there is a cheap one. I think called the caline punkin carver not joyo but same parent company and plant.

Same question. Sparrow is half the price of this new one. Will probably grab one before it's discontinued.

Joyo already offered a sans amp copy. The Dr J sparraow pedal, which is no longer available, but was very solidly built. The longevity of the pedal in this video remains to be seen.

I will show you how my 20$ amazon basics pedals sounds on my 6000 EUR Custom bass.The Blend knob was really usefull I guess.
Great for Roc n Roll. Would like to see more diversity from Joyo pedals instead of a stream of Darkglass copies. Give us some exclusives that aren't copies. That said, Joyo does indeed make good, high quality, cheap pedals.
What was the joyo high gain pedal you mentioned
Monomyth.
I've used demonfx clones, Joyo, and the same persists across all of them: some type of prominent issue arises eventually. They're def good for budget, but they will break, sometimes just having problems from the start.

Sounds nice, but I'd rather save up and pay for a real Sansamp, Darkglass, etc. that will last forever than pay for a cheap Chinese copy that breaks in 3 months. I've been down that road before, and I learned the hard way: buy right the first time, and you'll never have to buy again.
The old truth: If you buy cheap, you often buy twice.
I used to think like that, until the first expensive pedal I bought was also the first to fail, a EHX POG failed me after a year of very light use. Chinese pedals all the way now. Some have been in my pedalboard for over 7 years and still running strong. The only problem I had with one of them was with the jack coming loose, fixed in 1 minute with a little twist.
That's interesting. That said, EHX pedals are the only ones I've used to have issues! So maybe it's just the brand? @@ditorresyt
@@ditorresytEHX quality is shit, I'm sure the guy was talking about actual quality made pedals. Tech 21 has a proven quality track record.
I have friends who bought Joyo pedals and they all had problems with them after a short while (like making unusual noises that only go away after you cut the pedal's power, only to come back after a few minutes etc). Cheap comes with a price, i might say :)
