  • K2 has some brand new models for the 2023 ski season, which we're excited to talk about, but first we wanted to share our thoughts on this 2022 Disruption Ti2 that's carrying forward to 2023 with no changes.

    I will probably never buy this type of ski, but I just like to listen to bob and jeff talk about skis, any skis lol.

    Just picked up a pair and absolutely love them. Your review is spot on and have something to look forward to on non-powder groomer days. Sick ski and excellent review guys! Thank you.

    I've been on this ski for 2 years and have to say it is my favorite. I'm using it in ski bum races over my Blizzard WRCs. Happy to rave about it more, but suffice it to say Jed Yeiser did a GREAT job! Now, Jed, can you make me a slalom version (177; 14 m radius)?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      I love talking to Jed about the Disruptions. He's obviously so passionate about making a good ski, and he's a heck of a skier himself, plus a talented engineer. Add all those things up and it makes for some great skis, not to mention great conversations.

      How does / would it handle in some.aoft bumps / rollers ?

  • @kenjohnston1257
    @kenjohnston1257 2 года назад +6

    Anymore so many ski review videos focus on gentle freshly groomed runs. How do the skis respond when making more aggressive turns on steep terrain? How do they handle late in the day when packed runs turn to bumps with icy troughs? How do they handle powder, crud and the like? I guess my point is that you can even make rental skis look great if you limit them to gentle groomers...

    • @pewpewpew8390
      @pewpewpew8390 2 года назад +5

      ti2 is a "beer league" or even maybe masters ski for some, full camber, fairly long radius, taper etc dictates they are ment for firm frontside/groomers only.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +6

      Hey Ken! We try to vary the terrain in our videos as much as possible. For this ski, however, you really want to keep it on groomed slopes. Anything bumpy, you're going to get bucked around quite a bit. Powder? I wouldn't want to do that personally. Heavy and grabby. I will add that video footage does not do the steepness of a trail justice. Nosedive, which Jeff is skiing in this video, is actually a pretty steep trail, but really doesn't come across that way in video. I expect if you saw us skiing these runs in person, you'd have a different perspective on how we were skiing. Thanks as always for the feedback, however!

    Yeah, good one! I spent a day on a brand new pair of VÖLKL Deacon 84’s around the turn of the year - in my limited experience with thinner skis, I wonder if that shares some of the performance aspects you were describing. Regarding your mention of K2 and counterculture, I’m not sure I’m following - a small American company doing their own thing amongst the giant European brands? Tx for the video -

      i grew up skiing in the alps. k2 were always the cool skis for me. Cool graphics not part of the FIS circus and a lot of ski ads featuring "free skiing". The ski camp counselors had them ;)

      @@urbanrunoff I guess black crows might fit into this Doing Things Differently mindset? a small company literally in FIS’s backyard. two brands bringing a lot to ski culture and the sport!

      deacon 84 is very unlike this ski. Deacon 84 is a superb allrounder thats easy to ski but still has a lot of power, something like the ti2 has to be driven, its more of a cheater masters nastar and closer to actual race ski than an every day ski

    Hi there, really enjoy your videos! Thank you! Would like your opinion; I’m 6.2”, 85kg , intermediate level. I live in Japan and find skis over 170cm is not so easy 😅 anyway do u reckon these skis would fit me (thinking on the 182cm), or they will be too difficult?
    Thank you again!
    Alex

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 месяца назад +1

      I'd think the 182 is on the long side if you find the 170's to be a bit much. The Ti2 has a LOT of metal in it and a very long turn radius so it's a pretty unique ski in that it appeals to experts and racers more than progressing intermediates. I'd go shorter if you want this ski.

      @@SkiEssentials thank you , I realise they will be too much for me; do u think K2 Mindbender 90 will be ok to improve carving abilities? I’m looking also at the Rossignol Experience 80.
      I ski only on groomed piste.
      Thanks again!
      Btw I will be in Alaska this summer do you ship there in case I will decide the skis in the USA?

      @SkiEssentials  3 месяца назад +1

      @@alessandromenegazzi7575 There are a bunch of other Disruption skis that will be better than the Ti2. The 78 Ti or MTi have more in line with your stats and application. We certainly ship to AK!

    Thank you again for a great great and information nurishing video :D
    Last season i tried the Head e-GS RD Pro Masters (177cm R22) and i would say it was a bit to much for me! Others recommended me the Fischer RC4 Worldcup GS Masters (183cm) ski. They said its a more softer and "easier" to ride master ski with a radius bigger than 20. Can you compare the TI2 to that? I'm looking for a GS Ski for fresh and hard groomers in the morning, which are not punishing a small mistake with death :D Normally i ride a Deacon 84 on groomers, but i want some more speed and a bigger radius :) The Deacon 84 will still be my ski for the whole day on groomers.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Год назад +1

      The nice thing about the Ti2 is that it has a longer turn radius, so they don't feel hooky like some of these other GS skis. If you're looking for more speed than the Deacon without going full-race, the Ti2 is amazing.

    • @Igai99
      @Igai99 Год назад

      @@SkiEssentials Awesome, thanks. Thats exactly what i'm looking for. Also the radius on the deacon can get very small when leaning in hard. Really excited for this one! Going to test it together with a Stöckli Laser GS

    Right now I could buy this half price but in 177 cm length. I am 6'5" and 200 pds, bit of a gamble because I cannot ride it before buying. My expectation would be to have a slalom/giantslalom kind of ski at my size. Any suggestions? I am a strong and experienced skier with a bit of a knee issue, meaning I cannot ski five days straight at high speed. 😊

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think the 177 will be on the short side. Check out the Atomics--the G9 and the X9S. Both of these contain GS and slalom tendencies and come in low 180's in length.

      @@SkiEssentials I have had a Salomon Cross X Max Powerline 178 (73 under foot) for a long time, well over 10 Years but did not ride it regularly. It is a powerful ski and it's specs are similar to the K2. It held up well to my powerful style but at times was a bit slow on less steep hills.

    How would you compare this to a Stockli Laser AX? Similar kind of performance?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      This is stiffer. More comparable to the non-FIS Laser GS than anything else in Stockli's line.

    Have you done any masters races on them? or just beer league stuff? how do they compare to actual masters race skis like g9 RS revoshock 183 / 190 R 24 / R 27.5? I know they are not compareable to FIS models womens/mens.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      A little friendlier than those 24/27 m skis for sure. Less jarring, but still very precise and very strong. They're just a little smoother. It's actually one of the hardest things for us to explain as it's a marginal difference, but it's there.

    Hey there! I'm an 6'0 170 lbs advanced skier that likes to charge hard and carve aggressively. I also tend to lean forward a lot of the time to really cut into the turn. I'm looking for a (all mountain) ski that carves really well, but also is fun off piste. What ski's would you recommend?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +2

      Hi Dirk!
      Check out Fischer RC One 86 GT. We've been skiing it recently and love it. If you're aggressive and want a versatile carver, it's a great choice. I'd say 175 would be a good length for you in that ski--it's on the heavier/stabler side.

    This sounds like you have to be "driving" this ski all the time. I want to drive, but I also want to just ride sometimes. Is this an all-day ski?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +4

      Definitely a ski you have to drive. You need to be engaged on it the whole time. Don't want your weight to get in the backseat as it can be pretty unforgiving. Not really an all day ski for most. When I ski mine, it's 2-3 runs and done, whether I'm done done or switch to a different ski.

    K2 Ti2 vs Volkl 72 Deacon Master?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      Definitely very similar. The Deacon Master does have a shorter turn radius, however, so that changes things quite a bit. They're both "consumer" race skis. Both get real Piston plates. I feel more precision and responsiveness out of the Deacon, however, with the Disruption feeling a little smoother and more damp. I'll be in a start gate on the Ti2 in about 3 hours... wish me luck!
