Wonder how many times "animatronics" was said in the video....its a lot thats for sure. Hope you all enjoy this video! Aren't animatronics just awesome. **Now if anyone's wondering about Mr. Potato Head, heres the thing. He's been removed from the ride since they added the third track a couple years ago and there hasn't really been any mention if he'll be back for sure. Once Toy Story Land is completed is when we could possibly see him back but he may just become an extinct animatronic; hopefully he doesn't but who knows! If this video does well, i'll be sure to include him in a part two!

We went on the avatar ride, and honestly the animatronic was so lifelike and beautiful. The entire ride was great, but this really brought it to life. Our boat and other boats stopped for some unknown reason, so we had more time to watch the animatronic. It’s so clever!

The animatronic is back again.
Personally, I prefer the animatronics that don't have projected faces/bodies. To me, they actually take me out of the experience because the obvious glow from the projection is so distracting.
And I like when they aren't so lifelike because then I KNOW they aren't real. 😂😂😂 The more advanced ones kind of scare me a bit.

The visuals on the Na'vi River ride are amazing, and beautiful, it's just the boat ride itself is a little underwhelming...

Apparently this ride was going to be much longer, but they were severely over budget for pandora so the cut it short. If they had a larger budget, I bet this ride would have been amazing!
When I went the first year it opened, the Avatar ride had a 4 hour wait and the River ride said 70 minutes so we waited in line. It was a hot day and it looked like the first 1/2 hour we did not move much. The people lining up behind us where saying the wait time just kept going up. 80 minutes, 90 minutes 100 etc. Old people where walking out because of the heat. After 120 minutes we finally got on the ride. I was just getting comfortable and into it after the long wait, then came the 1 animatronic, then the end. One of the worse Disney experiences I had ever had.
I just had an idea for a Disney audio animatronic. What if Disney made a replica audio animatronic of the Mickey and Walt statue that is in front of the Disney castle. I think they should interact with each other and the audience. I think it will be a good idea!!!!!

I went to Pandora before and got stuck at that ride right in front of her. The music stopped after 10 minutes so me and my sister started singing our own songs for her to dance to so it was pretty dope.

I kind of hated all the projected faces last time I went to Disney Florida. The constant illumination and artificial "baked in" lighting on the face alone really breaks immersion. Just my opinion though.

Totally agree. So much of an attractions atmosphere come from the look and lighting and it's really jarring to have those clearly projected faces amongst the rest of the scene. When i was at Disney World the Buzz antimatronic wasn't working, so we we're just queuing in a room with a massive faceless Buzz Lightyear.

Yeah- for me it depends on which ride has the projected faces. Like I personally think the Mine Train works well with the faces in the mine scene, because of the glowing gems around it- which for me at least blends good with the glowing faces. For some, such as the Frozen rides don't work as well.
As a kids I thought they were cool, but it's been years so idk how I'd feel about it now
The Navi animatronic was absolutely beautiful. I've never seen anything like it before! The flight of passage ride is also worth the wait. I highly recommend just visiting Pandora overall.
They need to redo the yeti anamatronic with tech used in the avatar one, then slow the coaster down more at that part to show the yeti turn to spot you before it lunges close to the carts. It would be awesome. Maybe have its breath fog as it hurls towards you
As much as I would love to see this, I don't think it is mathematically possible to slow the coaster down for that portion of the ride when you look at the physics involved behind it. If I remember correctly, the yeti appears during or just after a drop. Changing the speed would mean changing the height of said drop and most likely altering the track of the entire ride, which I don't think would be probable if the reason is to see an animatronic more clearly. Though I do love the idea of the foggy breath! That would help the illusion of the cold on top of Everest!
Amber Elizabeth I think you are correct. After seeing the ride footage it would be impossible to slow it down at that part :)
The reason the Yeti hasn’t been working is because it put too mich stress on the support beams and foundation of the actual mountain. They’d have to shut the ride down, and pull apart the ride mountain and all just to fix the issue costing alot of money and a very long down time.

The Senior Vice President Imagineer Joe Rohde said in 2013 he vows to fix the Yeti. So hopefully he does.

The yeti can get fixed. But it will require the ride to be closed for at least a year. He stopped due to faulty construction of his back supports. But if they do fix the problem. They might decide to expand the track and maybe even add another yeti
I think I heard in an interview that if they want to repair the yeti they will have to take a big chunk of the mountain off to be able to get to the supports

I just hope Disney would still stick to animatronics on their future rides and not go the 3D screen based ones. Flight of Passage is a damn great ride but I still want animatronics.
I could live for a mixture of screens and Animatronics like what they did with Na’vi River Journey. If it had another 2-4 animatronics then the ride as a whole would be much better

The Na’vi shaman is truly my favorite. I tend to forget that she is just an animatronic. Her movements are so life-like.
My favorite Disney animatronic of all time is the Carousel of Progress. I first visited the attraction in Disneyland as a child (late 1960s). At the time, it was a technical marvel and the story they told was (and still is) enchanting. Instead of switching the scenes around, the audience moves from one scene to another (making it a ride, of sorts), so it can accommodate several audiences at once. As a kid, when air conditioning was not readily available, it was a great way to cool off from the hot park for 20 or so minutes (still is!). I'm not sure why, but the "progress" story never seems to get old for me and I always make a point of seeing it every time I am at Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the glowing projector faces on the animatronics? I admit it works for Buzz, because it fits with the Pixar style, but it just looks so weird on the Dwarves.
sailorcybertron , yeah I agree, I found them to make the faces of the animatronics in the Frozen ride look stiff. Same with the Dwarfs in the Mine Train.
Really agree with that i feel like it creates a barrier of reality between you and the character if they used the projections but the actual thing like ursula just invokes so much more reality and beauty
It probably looks better in person. Cameras pick up light projections a little off.
Shiverdamnation I’ve been there many times and I can confirm that at least the way the camera in THIS video picks them up, is how they actually look.
The face is 10x brighter than the body. I think they thought that would work in the dark mine with everything else glowing, but it doesn’t. It also distracts you from the rest of the body like a laser distracts a cat. I rode Frozen TWICE and never paid special attention to Elsa’s apparently INCREDIBLE movements! All because of that stupid face projection.
The only projected face I really enjoy is the set of trolls in Frozen. It’s perfectly lighted, perfectly executed, and it looks VEEEERY real. The other ones I just wanna... Rip their faces off.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who dislikes this! As an animator, I totally understand what they were trying to go for: a truly animated face that is quite literally animated (and that aside, I'm sure it cuts down on cost as well). However, starting with the dwarves, this decision has always ruined a bit of the magic for me...I love the animatronics at the parks because they allow us all to suspend our disbelief for a moment and see animations actually come to life. Seeing the same literal animated face I saw in the theatre, does not allow me to do that at all...I remember being disappointed the first time I rode the mine car, thinking the lighting must have been weird on the promotional videos I saw only to realize: no, that's how they look. Even with proper lighting, I wouldn't quite appreciate the effect as much. It's not nearly as impressive as seeing the character smile, as their skin actually stretches in a life like manner. Ursula is a fine example of that. I love going on that ride for her.. (I'm an animatronic dork lol...I really like that kind of stuff).
We waited in line for an hour for the na’vi river journey ride and I consider myself extremely lucky to have seen that gorgeous animatronic. The ride was absolutely beautiful and the na’vi was just the icing on the cake.

A lot of people loved the Flight of Passage ride (and for good reason!), but I loved the River ride just because of this animatronic!!!! I've never seen one so well done. While I loved the projected faces on the other ones (like the Dwarves), it would have ruined this one. So glad they didn't use a projection on this face!!!!!!

I went on it without knowing the movie (I’m only in 6th grade) and I thought I wouldn’t like it because of that. I still loved it and when I got back from my trip I watched the movie.
Animatronics must never stop existing i believe,they are so freaking fun to watch them move.And also shows great technology & robotics,who knows maybe in the future the robotics and cybernetic in prosthetics and not only will be much more possible!

I love the new Pandora animatronic, and Hopper still impresses me every time. But I think my favorite goes to Dinosaur. There is a dinosaur animatronic that is swallowing another dinosaur, and I absolutely love it!!!! But your choices are excellent!!! Thank you for another great video!

That would be the Alioramus eating an Ovaraptor. One of my favorites too. Many hours I have spent repairing the tail of that ovaraptor. Getting eaten wasn't his only problem.
Carmine Crincoli you forgot the Ceradactylus and its baby's in the nest. Also many people miss the two baby Parasaurolophus on the hill underneath the Momma.

My grandpa works for Disney and has for all his life. They don’t take Disney rejects to the dump because they know people will take them and sell them so instead they give them to the employees. My grandpa has so many different ones from all over the park! Super cool.

People don't realize it's him bc who's going to believe Johnny Depp is just chillin' @ DW lol. He's also taken over for the Jack Sparrow actors outside the ride & given them a break. The guests just assume it's an "actor" & most don't realize it's really him.

When I went to Florida my younger sister met Mickey the magic one in Florida. The whole time I thought Mickey was acting strange but he moved like a human so I brushed it off. TURNS OUT HES AN ANIMATRONIC!!! The movement and everything was incredible and we didn’t see Minnie so maybe their making her? If u ever get a chance go see him it’ll blow your mind!
I thought the first time I saw the witch and jack sparrow they were real until I got older and realised it was an animatronic. They are/were both amazing. I can’t wait to go back and experience the avatar ride

Quick tip for the mine train, near the finale of the fireworks, start heading through the alternative path that intersects TomorrowLand and FantasyLand. The line should be about 40 minutes shorter, making the wait time as low as 20 minutes!

When I did the mine train during the fireworks it was still 80 minutes and the ride was moving slower because of the fireworks. So that's better than what he said. But then you have to ride the thing get past all the crowds at that time and its still sometimes a wait.
Last time we were at MK, we got an early breakfast reservation at Be Our Guest so we could walk out and get on Mine Train right away. We hurried through our breakfast and walked out at 9 (park opening) and there was already a 90 min wait. Apparently they opened the park 15 min early and everyone rushed there.
I did doring the fire works and it was only 40min.!
to be honest, I prefer the non-projected faces. It's not as cool as the actual faces. They replaced a lot of animatronics with these projections and to me it's a step backward. Buzz used to have a real face, and the animatronics in The Haunted Mansion have been changed to projections, and to me they're not as cool, because the imagineers can just animate the faces on a computer and the project them. I want to see more animatronics like Ursula and Olaf.
Buzz actually never had a real face. It was always a projected face! But the technology pre Na'vi Shaman allowed a lot more flexibility but now they have this technology I think we'll start to see a lot more non-projected face animatronics again!

You actually might be wrong. My Mom distinctly remembers them replacing the Buzz with a projected one because the first one was terrible, but I can’t find any back up for this at the moment. I’m curious, so I’ll keep looking.

As a kid (and still now a bit) I wasn't afraid of anything more than of animatronics! I think they're super creepy. I frequently got nightmares about them chasing me and giving me electro shocks. If there were any at the funfair etc, I'd pinch my eyes together and ask my mom to lead me away from them! 😅

My favorite audio-animatronics at Disney World are the final Carnotaurus in Dinosaur, the bears in the Country Bear Jamboree, and basically everything in the Great Movie Ride (RIP)

It’s not in this video because this is a Disney World specific list, and the one you’re talking about is in California Adventure at Disneyland.

Last week we went to pandora and I wanted to cry that animatronic was so advanced it was amazing definitely worth the 2 hour wait! Also check out flight of passenge because it is a real AWESOME experience ! Tpm vids guess what I waiting almost 5 hours for that one it was awesome tho !!

NinjaBrine55 if you ever get a chance, you should totally make the trip to WDW!! it is sooo worth it and even though disneyland is fantastic, wdw has a lot more to offer. but i love both 💕

When i was 8 we went on the pirates tide and when i saw jack i thought it was an actor and i yelled hi! At him and everyone on the boat laughed at me 😂💀smh
I LOVE ANIMATRONICCCCCCCCSSS! It was crazy wicked to ride through and see Na’Vi Shaman moving so gracefully! I swear my heart was about to burst. It was PERFECT. Reads so much better in person. The yeti was fixed when I visited and looks amazing as well.
I love all the anomatronics, but I would perfer if disney would not use projectong faces. I think that it takes away from the realizism of the animatronics.

I don't care what Disney says, I feel them removing The Great Movie ride was horrible decision, and if the rumors about them considering removing, and replacing Carousel of Progress are true, then they are going to be digging themselves one hell of a grave. The Great Movie ride might have just been fun, and nostalgic, but removing Walt's baby will be the last bit of soul gone if you ask me.
@@ToaKoran Them removing Great Movie Ride was the Disney World version of The peoplemover closing at Disneyland. Just an awful awful decision.

77legocreator Accually both Lumiere and Madam Wardrobe are both good in that attraction. Even though I have only seen them on RUclips videos. Would love to see them in person if I ever got the chance.

OMGGG I remember the muppet mobile lab from when I was a little kid! I’ve been to Disney only 4 times. Once this year, and a few times as a little kid. (I’m 16 right now) and I remember seeing this every time. I didn’t get to see it last time because we didn’t get to visit Epcot sadly. We park hopped every park except for Epcot that one day so yeah.
We went to Disney a day after the avatar area opened and the 3 hour wait for the river ride was worth it just for this animatronic! Was blown away by how realistic she was, this video really doesn't do it justice.
