Van Halen was my very first concert. I was a 15 year old kid who saw them on the 1982 Diver Down tour. They opened with Romeo Delight and I haven't been the same since. RIP Edward. You are sorely missed.

VH was my band as a kid. From Dave to Sammy I loved them all. They would play 3 or 4 at Worcester and I would go to all their shows. Every new album they would tour. They were a GREAT BAND. Alex and Michael never got the credit they deserved. Alex was as skilled and active above most drumming of that generation and even now. Michael's bass was unheralded. He set a great rhythm. And his vocals are off the chart. And Eddie has to be mentioned with the greatest ever. And he could sing also. RIP Eddie. Ty for the memories The world 🌎 is a lesser place without you in it to rock us. Love ❤ ya

Alex is debatably as talented of a musician Eddie was. Drummers weren't "featured" musicians in guitar rock. If VH had been "prog" rock instead, Alex would easily rival Neil Peart or Danny Carrey. Alex deserves a spot on the Mt Rushmore of rock drummers.

Every now and then someone or something comes along in your life that shines brighter than anything previously. Edward Van Halen was like that in so many people’s lives , mine included. A fantastic guitarist and innovator , and when clean and sober a genuine nice guy. He battled some Demons in his life and just after it seemed he had beaten them & won , he is suddenly gone ….. like a candle burning bright suddenly snuffed out by the wind. Thanks for the life long memories Van Halen .👍. R.I.P. 😢

Eddie changed the direction of my music, plain and simple. When I heard eruption at 16 years of age I did not know it was a guitar.. and I had already played guitar for at least 6 years. I promptly set out to learn it note for note.. ended up performing it at every show as a spotlight paying homage to who I still believe was the best guitarist ever to Grace a stage. I love this, my only negative is that I wish Dave would have taken the time to review his album performances before going out half cocked sounding like he was winging it. Nevertheless, a great show I'm sure and I miss Eddie Van Halen like a long lost brother. Rest in peace Edward Van Halen! You shined brighter than anyone and here or gone, you will always be in a class of your own.

I saw them in concert in Cincinnati right before the Who incident and at the same place. We got trapped up against the wall and couldn't get out. It was right before they opened the doors. It was scary not being able to move and smashed up in the middle of a crowd by a concrete wall. My friends new jacket got tore up. But the concert was awesome~!

There is no one to replace Eddie Van Halen, to even suggest that could even be possible is ludicrous, preposterous and just damn impossible. No one can replace anyone, and people should stop trying too. I play guitar, very well, so I am told. Yes I can play any Van Halen song, but I prefer to play them, if I do, the way I play, my own style. That's the way guitarists appreciate the affection they have and honor someone as Great as Eddie, by playing their Riffs, that way. Make sense? Keep on Rockin'. That's what he would want you to do. Love ya all! 🤘

A 32 year span from here back to the US festival in 83' where they made big bucks by the minute for that gig.Wish I could of been there for that one.All those years went by and all the great albums an recordings I still remember when black and blue came out. What a jam an Finish what ya started and a bunch of others with the red rocker.
Life is so fast and unfair he's gone now.I shed some tears when I got home the day I heard he passed. The day before was my last day I had any alcohol it really scared me.I never thought of how it would be or imagined losing Eddie it's hard to believe.
I remember reading about him asking his father how he got past being nervous while performing and his dad told him or showed him cigarettes and alcohol.I'd of never thought Eddie would have stagefrieght.
I too was nervous myself and needed a few shots to loosen me up to play live.
2 years sobriety since his fateful day in 2020
My condolences Valerie Alex and Wolfie and ofcourse

I saw VH open for Black Sabbath at Madison square garden. I'm pretty sure ticket prices were probably the same. They were obviously drunk but better than B.S. who were awful. B.S. played only an hour and had one encore, which was just unheard of back then. Usually the major bands would play for 2 hours or more and have multiple encores. You can tell they were tired and not really putting out their best game.

I saw them here in Atlanta back in 1978 open for Black Sabbath also the Ramones was the first band but Van Halen stole that show for sure. Black Sabbath was kind of at the end of their journey with Ozzy about that time and I remember about 2/3 of the way through the Black Sabbath show ,people started leaving during Black Sabbath’s performance that night . It was black sabbath show in Atlanta Georgia that night but that night definitely belonged to Van Halen. I remember they opened up with on fire and towards the end if I remember right during the encore they played a song that was going to be released from their second album he DLR said ,and I think it was bottoms up? I was so lucky to be around then as a 13 year-old kid to witness that and then I went on to see them the very next year when they had their first headline tour after Van Halen II was released in the Fox Theatre here in Atlanta and I was on the 13th row and it was awesome. The energy and power they brought to the scene then was fresh and new nothing else like it at that time great memories❤️

Great instrumentalist, not just guitarist. Could be difficult to get along with on a one-on-one basis according to people who knew him well. But that did kind of humanize him in way. Everyone has their foibles, including one of the greatest of all time.

After seeing how good Wolfgang played his Dad's tunes at Taylor Hawkins' tribute concert, it's a crying shame he and his Dad didn't jam onstage with guitars or complement each other like Downing and Tipton...

Eddie in his prime. Well his whole career he was in his prime. They sound great here. Dave still looks and acts like a goofball circus performer. Would have loved to see them with Sammy one more time.

So lucky to see Van Halen in July 1981 at Madison Square Garden NYC. Opening band was The Fools, Then Van Halen came out with Dave jumping off Alex's drum platform holding a bottle of Jack Daniel's lol

@@rocketmaan thank you Rocket man for send me a hart.youre the best!!! Jesus love you!!! It realy sucks that the Edward Van Halen is not on this world anymore, now it feels empty inside, for more than 40. Years the band Vam Halen was just arround and that was just as it was ,I realy never know that it is such a unplesant time it left behind the end of a. Greate band and what can fill that spot i am getting old and heroes came and go....strange times and the new are not what we had that sucks

I cant help but say Phil, i just cant put anyone ahead of him, he was an earthshaking guitarist. It was like witnessing the ultimate rock guitarist when he took the stage. His sound and technique was brilliant.
