That was a beautiful cat. I've only landed 1 in my life. I know it's just a fish but it's like catching a unicorn. Personally I would have liked to have seen it go free. Pass it's genetics on and give some one else the chance to get such a unique fish. But that's just one fishermen's opinion. At the least I hope it tasted good.
thank you! yeah they are beautiful fish and i caught them on a private pond and there are an over abundance of these catfish. they are taking over the lake and the land owner actually requested me to harvest some to help control their population.
I've personally never caught one but albino catfish are rare in the sense of most fisherman cant catch them but the gene is not rare in general and they are well bred in fisheries.....If anybody want them you can just buy hundreds of them offline to stock your pond .
In Iowa all Albino Wildlife is Protected. If fatal circumstances we have to call the DNR. Great Looking cat, very beautiful. I personally would have let it go.
for the 27th time that I've had to explain this, these fish were stocked specifically to be harvested. This is at a family friends private pond where catching these fish are encouraged. Not rare at all when you can buy them cheap from hatcheries

Ya better to take out albinos because they have a lot of health defects and it’s actually terrible for the species to let them live
I would have put it on my wall
