3: Remembrance 2: Fenric 1: Silver Nemesis. However, the first two are rather interchangeable, dependent on mood.

I love you all and want to kiss your faces. Thank you!!
Fenric is equal to Remembrance for me but if I had to choose, it's be Fenric. Every performance is stellar, but Alfred Lynch is incredible - he's completely off his hinges but in such a beautifully understated way. The few scenes of him with Sorin are really good at highlighting this - Sorin has a heroic resolve to him that makes his end so tragic, whereas Millington could never have gone any other way.
Kudos to Ben for the Kathleen Dudman scene - my youngest son watched this recently. He's only 7 (same age I was on broadcast) and he made it to that scene, but it was there that he had to turn it off. Vampires he could handle but the reality of war he couldn't. He watched Silver Nemesis instead. :)
Both Remembrance and Fenric are exceptional in classic Who at utilizing wider real life issues but never at the expense of narrative or character. Silver Nemesis is flawed, but it is sooo much fun, and a welcome refrain from darker McCoy.
    Mum I'm sorry!!!!

Yay for #TeamFenric! It's difficult because Remembrance and Fenric are so close to me, so maybe I would sway back the other way on a different day, but there's just something in my heart says Fenric is best.

@@p-bal my first ever story was Happiness Patrol so I only ever came to Remembrance via the Target and VHS. Fenric I watched on transmission and it hit me so hard in the roundels as it was the culmination of a wonderful experience of discovering the series over the past 12 months or so. It was the first VHS and Target I got too. They're both stunners, but Fenric just has the emotional edge with Ace's arc against the apocalyptic backdrop of WW2. It's almost like the stakes are that bit higher than they are in Remembrance, and that he's facing a bigger foe. I also think cos of the time it was made, they handled it all with such beautiful restraint. I fear the newer stuff would stick some awful Snow Patrol song in the background when Ace jumps into the water.

@@barstang The Fenric novelisation is also a great expansion on the televised version. A New Adventure length edition would be great!

@@p-bal Definitely. I think the same with Remembrance. I read them both a few months ago. They're both at just the right level of adulthood in terms of pitching. Like great teenage fiction - the exploration of the boundaries is there, but never steps into anything smelly.

Based on Broadcast version of Fenric, I would also put it McCoy's 2nd best behind Rememberance. However, my mate Ioan Morris did his own edit of Frenic. His edit is a 4 parter including extra, but not all, material from the Director's Cut. The episodes are longer, but it's definitely the best edit and the version I now watch. Making The Curse Of Fenric (The Ioan Edit) my favourite McCoy.

Totally agree with Remembrance & Fenric being in top 2 spots but just don't get the love for Silver Nemesis. i thought it was utter crap at the time. And still do. My No 3 would be Ghostlight, or possibly Greatest Show.

Remembrance is serious and threatening, the whole ethos of Nemesis is totally different, it's supposed to be a fun, action packed romp. Remembrance age's well like a fine wine, but to me, I prefer Nemesis, because that style is more my cup of tea !

Rememberance was the first Who story I seen on original transmission as a 6 year old. Even though its not a personal favourite, you just cannot deny how good it is and what a game changer it was after two seasons of middling stuff. Production values also seem to have gone up - probably no extra budget but they were using it better on effects. Fenric is one of the greatest of all time. Suffers the same a little as Ghost Light as its complex and might have confused some casual viewers and has benefitted from the reinstated material in the VHS and DVD versions. Nemesis sucks- not sorry. Poor retread of the basic story of Rememberance. Except for Lady Peinforte who was underused as a villain - Fye!!

I'd vote for Fenric myself. Not only as my favourite McCoy but also as my overall favourite of the whole show. I am a tad surprised that P-Bal loves it so much as I find Fenric to be as grim if not grimmer than Genesis. Although I do agree it's a far better story than Genesis.

You can't have either watched the entire classic run or grew up in the 80s to prefer ANY McCoy over virtually ANY of the first 4 Doctor stories 😏

    • @matejadjedovic

@@normandavidtidiman9918 I have watched the entire classic run. Several times in order at that. But you are right that I didn't grow up in the 80s. In fact, I didn't grow up with the show at all being something of a late bloomer. I consider Season 26 my favourite DW season along with Seasons 7 & 14. My favourite Classic serials are Fenric, Ambassadors of Death, The Caves of Androzani, Earthshock (even though Davison is easily my least favourite Doctor), and Talons. My favourite Classic Doctors are Pertwee, Troughton, McCoy, and Hartnell. If we're counting the New Series, however, Midnight would tie with Fenric for my favourite story.
