I have the Bandit and changed the motor over to brushless. I noticed the gearing still prevents the Bandit from reaching a high speed top end. I think I will change both the Spur gear and Pinion gear. The new ESC is fan cooled, so I don't need to worry about over heating issues like the brushed motor would experience. Good video by the way.
I got me a 3674 hobbystar motor I was planning on installing into my slash just to get rid of the heat issue with the VXL system, I just never got around to it
I just upgrade my sons bigfoot to 32 pitch and and I know what you seem as far as it seeming "smoother". His is running the blx100 motor/esc 17/54 and its impossibly fast on 3s. GPS at 44 on 2s and wheelies a anything over 52 kn 3s
Great job with your upgrade. I have no idea but does a 32p gear hold up better than a 48p? The reason I ask is because I'm having issues with 2 of my cars destroying spur gears.
@@stuwest3653 I have been setting mesh with 1 sheet of note book paper for 48p. Maybe there is a better way. My BigFoot and DR-10 are both running 48p plastic and being pushed by Spectrum BLX100 (same as it the Typhon and Granite) . Continuously stripping spurs on both cars. I'm running the exact same motor and ESC in my 1/10 scale Sunfire on 32p metal gears and they don't strip out. The car is lighter and runs smaller tires. I think it could be that with large paddles on the DR-10 and the quick take offs in sand is too much for the spur. The BigFoot actually had a problem that I just noticed. I put different shock on it and there was too much travel causing the sliders to drag on the suspension arms.
I'm in the process of doing the monster conversion. I didnt know about the 48 to 32 conversion until now. Very nice video Have you tried any other pinions?
Was watching another youtuber and when he did the 32 pitch upgrade, he put the cover right back on...I think his Slash 2wd was a newer model. Don't know if that makes a difference.
Mainly at the park. I avoid water if possible. I do enjoy cleaning all my trucks... simple green, brush, water hose rinse, air compressor, wd40, air compressor again!
Yes, you can even still use the cover with some spacers. But I dont see the need for it. The main improvement is the 3665 Motor and they come with 5mm shafts so no 48P pinions for them^^
Thanks for the share.i 've been thinking of doing a 32p swap,pretty much straight forward.thanks again.(2wd strc lcg slash/rustler pro-trac 4kv HW)
Thank you for the info you provided, very nice and helpful 👍🇲🇾 12:15
good project and mods !!! i like models traxxas 2wd ,.. so fun,.. sorry my ingles !

I’m having over heating problems I have a 3300 motor and 18/86 gearing and my battery dies quickly
@@jorgeguillen6806 Dial it back. You can only go so far concerning hopping these things up. Time to move up to a better classed RC.
Always use the esc to fix cw versus ccw . Sensored motors wont like the phase wires being reversed.
It's clearly not a sensored motor.

32p is stronger but you are most likely having another issue with your gear mesh.

Do 32p gearing drain the battery faster?
Hpw is that motor holding up....looking to buy one for my Fiesta Rally

Great video brother ! I have a question can I do the same but still use my velinuem 3s vxl motor ?
Thanks! Yes, but you will need to look for 3mm shaft 32 pitch pinions.
What did you feel after changed pitch 48 to 32m on rc?
Great video real informative. Gonna try using a 48p pinion with a 5mm bore from hot racing need the gear cover to bash :)
I've had this set up for a couple of months now and I flipped, rolled, and tumbled many times with no damage to the gears without the cover.
you can modify the gear cover btw my friend
What CVs are on it?MIP?I'm putting castle creations 3800 kv 5mm shaft in my stampede so I'm looking for gears
Yup...MIP's. Put then on when I broke my first axel.
Where do you drive it? How do you keep it so clean?

Which traxxas vehicle's use the 32 pinion, I'd like to see they gear ratio chart
I believe that 32p gears are standard on the VXL Slash and Rustler 4x4.
32 pitch or pinion. They aint the same
Basically all of them (ok I dont have an XMAX^^) My Slash 4x4, 2wd, bandit and ERevo are all using the exact same spur gear^^
Can you put the same pitch on a brushed bandit

Can you send me the links to the spur and pinion gear I wanna upgrade mine

Yo hanks bro imma make my 2wd slash go fast 💨
Is that an upgrade? Your just increasing the acceleration but lowering the speed.
thats not how it works
I think 48 is stronger.
Can you put 32pitch in a brushed
I'm pretty sure you can, however most brushed systems have a 3mm motor shaft so you would need to get 3mm pinions.
@@lbrcguy Yup, even if you dont know....i will still experiment it, but i will only use plastic or aluminium gears, steel is heavy
