How many people noticed in this movie with the final boss McCall did something he never did. He didn't give the final bad guy a chance. After the town stood up he went straight to work. Also I think this film truly shows the true capabilities of Robert and what he used to do we've always seen it but never to this extent.

Robert McCall's previous identity was John Creasy, a former CIA operative who got hired by a Mexican gangster to be his daughter's bodyguard. The daughter, named "Pita", gets kidnapped and Creasy rescues her by "surrendering" himself to the Mexican gangsters. It's implied that he died under the gang's hands.
What isn't commonly known is that Creasy singlehandedly eliminates all the Mexican gang members and goes back to work for the CIA with his handler, Susan Plummer. He fakes his death, and starts living his life as a civilian under the name of "Robert McCall".
Pita goes under witness protection and is adopted by Susan and Bill Plummer, not knowing that Pita was Creasy/McCall's principal/protectee. She then takes the name "Emma Collins" and starts working for the CIA.
Their story is continued in Equalizer 3.

  • @SGz_Eliminated

This entire movie is essentially a farewell for Roberts character, its about him finally finding closure and coming to peace with himself. As we learn at the beginning he was just trying to help someone get his retirement fund back but in the process stumbled upon something much larger but its not what he's there for. We also see him get shot in the back by the child, something Robert in his prime would never had fallen victim to but he's getting old, he's slowing down, he's not on his game anymore. When he wakes back up he considers himself on borrowed time, he's grateful and respectful but he has no plan he's just living in the moment. He gets to know the locals and decides he's likes this little slice of peace he's found but the gangs dealings rub his conscious the wrong way, he tries to ignore it but it continues to escalate, disturbing his chance at peace to the point he decides to take action again even though he no longer wanted to and considered himself done with it. He puts his watch back on and gets the work done, a final deed, now he can enjoy his peace.
That's an extremely brief take but you get the idea and can fill in the blanks. I also think there's a lot of religious undertones in this one but I lack the knowledge to be able to explain the symbolism. Ultimately its a great movie and heartfelt goodbye for the character, it isn't meant to feel like the first two and that's okay

Fallen is one of the great Denzel Washington performances. You've mentioned The Hurricane, so I don't know if you've seen that one already, but it's worth a sitting as well.
On another note congratz on the addition to your family. From 6-24 months old your baby's ability to learn is at it's highest. I'm not affiliated with the company in any way but the "Your Baby Can Read" DVD series is amazing if you want your child to have a leg up in life. I've seen several kids able to fluently speak/read/write 3 or more languages by the age of 2 with the program. Not genius kids or anything, but who's parents used these amazing tools.

I really liked this movie too and I agree it felt different. I hope this the end of the series as far as Denzel goes, he seemed noticeably older and likely did less of the action sequences himself judging on how they were filmed and edited, his talent is still strong in the acting department. Pretty sure they've talked about doing a younger McCall in future films which I think has a wider scope for story telling.

Odd thing to praise, but I am so glad they didn’t make Agent Conroy (David Denman) into a villain. Considering how the other two movies felt the need to throw in a bit of contrivance and have a corrupt cop or agent that causes the plot to happen or leads to wondering how any group of criminals knew where McCall was, I was legit, thinking that they were going to do the same thing with his character, and whenever something bad was happening, it was because they were gonna throw in a plot twist where it’s revealed that he was working with the Mafia.
But surprisingly, they didn’t go that route, which I think really works.

I saw EQ3 twice, Dolby Cinema & IMAX at AMC.
Seeing how far McCall has come as this force of nature is quite the experience.
Having him near death and defeat was hard to look at.
I really thought he was gone for good.
He reveals more of his invulnerablity as he gets to know the people of this Italy province.
Seeing the best of them and the worse of them.
Of course, McCall truly lives up to his name by dealing out the most major punishment to these mafia goons and their boss getting it the worse is well-deserved.
Onscreen with Dakota Fanning after 20 years since 'Man on Fire' was some great conversational scenes and dialogue.
The reveals of McCall's reason for being overseas and Fanning's agent character made me feel so good.
That everything happens for a reason, no mistakes or consequences.
This brought a tear to my eye as an worthy finale indeed.
Glad to have been along for it.

It is but most yt ppl of a certain age don't know the importance of Brother Malcolm. I've seen some reactors just don't get it

@@Lola-di8fq Sadly, I think you might be right. Still, it's important for those of us who *are* aware of Brother Malcolm's legacy and his importance in history to make sure that his memory doesn't simply fade away.

There's plenty of movies with him,but I would describe only 3:
The Bone Collector with Angelina Jolie
The Little Things with Jared Leto
And last but not least, Fallen.

I think it's a great full circle story because he was still avenging Susan's death. His violence level really escalated at the end of #2 especially his last kill of Dave. So the beginning of this has picked up where he left off.
Such a sweet ending again of looking out for Susan's daughter. Dakota did a great job of reminding us of Susan as she paid attention to the details of the room they were searching.
Very nice reunion of she and Denzel

Can still remember when Denzel Washington had his 1st major role & stole the movie from the main (well known) actors. Few know of it, a 1981 film called 'Carbon Copy' staring George Segal, Susan Saint James, Jack Warden, & Paul Winfield. Not the best movie ever made, but you'll see Denzel Washington shine early in his career.

You should check Deja Vu with Denzel and Paula Patton or Denzel and Mark Wahlberg in 2 Guns. Out of Time, John Q, American Gangster, The Magnificent Seven, The Hurricane (based off a true story), and Antwone Fisher are just a few more great choices.

I never saw the original TV series, I mean, I was aware of it, but it wasn't one of the programs I watched growing up. I did love the first two Equalizer films and am looking forward to seeing the third one.
