For 41 years of my life I was a devout atheist. Public school educated which reinforced the secular world view. 11 months ago I finally picked up a bible and came to Christ. We’re now organising for my kids to attend a good Christian school next year. The public system is rotten to the core.

Or… thank God you found Christ and realize that despite your specific experience 100’000 of believers attend and serve in the public schools. Simultaneously “christian” schools are able to produce atheists, deists and occultists quite regularly. By your experience we may just as well deduce logically the God meets people at any time of life from any upbringing with the free gift of salvation by grace through faith in Christ. In fact the Gospel record account Jesus supping with sinners while being constantly besmirched and scorned by the religious-intellectual institutions of his day. AND I’ll remind you all- even Jesus paid those institutions due respect because they were instituted by God through Moses. BUT crucially Jesus SURPASSED them and FULFILLED the Law and Prophets on which they grounded their legitimacy.

Now, they are being raised by a godless man who is keeping them in public school. Please pray he comes to the Lord, too. Also, please pray for my brother and his kids. They are also in pub lic schools being raised by a narcissist mother who cheated and is now turning the kids on my brother and our family. They're so impressionable, and she's teaching them that cheating and lying is okay. The court, of course, is siding with the mother. My family is going through the fire right now. My husband and I are Newer Christians. We just remarried after 2 years apart but we were still very much in each other’s lives during that time. Before our divorce we were married 22 years. I am no longer a nag and I let him lead because I know he is in prayer with our Father, as I am and we are both looking for complete guidance in our lives. We are both 64 years old and I was definitely more of a feminist but married to a strong ungodly man. Jesus has changed everything. I have the utmost respect for my husband now and know God expects him to lead. Put Christ first and yearn for him in every part of your lives. He will make your marriage strong and happy. I would see kindergartners so bright eyed and eager to learn and by 4th-5th grade that glimmer a light was gone. The kids only liked school because it meant hanging out with friends.

Change happens when we take action. If we make it impossible for the government to control our kids minds, then we take our power back. Fighting with the majority doesn't do anything for us when the majority is taken over by ideologies we don't want for our children. If public schools disappeared, that would not be a negative thing. It would invite a new way of educating our kids. It's already here. There are so many ways to educate your kids online now. You don't have to subject your children to a public school and surrender your control to them.

My wife is not on board, at this point, with homeschooling, but if/when she comes along side me in that, we'll be doing so. I was public schooled. My parents expressed concerns about the peers I was joining with. I argued I was witnessing to them, but really i just wanted to act out. I never lost my faith, by God's mercy, but I believe that is primarily bc my father taught the Bible every night before dinner. If he had not, I shudder to think the journey I would have taken.

As the youngest of 3 who all went to public school, my oldest brother doesn’t follow the Lord. The difference between him and I is that I found my core group of friends at church while he gravitated to his school friends. Who you choose to be around matters the most. I always felt left out around the people at school, but was always included at church. I turned that around to be the one who includes those and turn them to Jesus!
I agree that homeschooling matters, but make sure they have people their age who they can connect with at church too

We sent our middle schoolers to public school with the thought that they would be "missionaries", it was the worst decision my husband and I made. We pulled them out in the middle of their 7th grade year. They will be entering 8th grade next month. I quit my job this past February, money is a little tight but all of the sacrifices are worth it. Unfortunately, some damage was already done that we have to work through. We have a son and a daughter in the same grade, the public school system and their peers severely impacted them in such a negative way. We live in California btw.

I run a private christian preschool/kindergarten in my church. It's only half day. I always filled up my class but this is the second year in a row that my attendance has been cut in half. All the public schools opened a free all day preschool. Even a lot of christian families I know are sending their kids there. I am not an expensive program, but I'm not free. If I have the same problem next year, I will have to shut my program down. I'm heartbroken and so worried about all the children attending public school. Crazy thing is I don't qualify for any assistance from the government because I'm a faith based program.

While I was in college I taught as a substitute teacher at the local high school (NY). Very conservative town - fairly conservative staff.
This small high school still had an overwhelming level of perversion, confusion, irresponsibility, rebelliousness, etc. The teachers had little authority, kids ran the class room. Kids had identity issues - tried changing their name, gender, clothing, style in 7th grade.
No government-run school is an acceptable place for your child.
The point of the public school was to teach kids academics, while the parents taught them social, psychological, physical, mental, worldview topics. Now the public school has taken the role of parents and has decided to teach worldview etc. The government has assumed authority that God gave to parents.

If you place a cell phone with data into your child's hand, thinking it will keep them safer and you connected to them like a leash, realize, you don't need much worry about what school they attend. That phone will do equal the work of any public school.
Now I have to find a way to withdraw my misguided decision to equip them, so I might protect them.
The World isn't going anywhere. Those ugly rainbow flags are boldly flying everywhere, and they are fully inclusional to exclude you. They represent so much more than what is admitted. Homeschooling mom of four kids with ADHD…I am bothered by the reference to medicating kids because they can’t sit still. That invalidates those who have a real diagnosis of a condition in their brain that they cannot control. I have three kids diagnosed with ADHD who also have trouble with other processing issues sound, touch also dyslexia and dysgraphia…this is a real problem for these kids. Medicating them is not about getting them to sit still it’s about making it possible for the different parts of their brain to communicate with each other better. It’s about making it possible for them to learn whether that’s at home or in a classroom. I have experienced this first hand with my kids and the immense frustration they deal with trying to stay focused through what most of us would consider VERY minor distractions. I have experienced working memory issues watching my kids struggle with math that I KNOW they actually understand but can’t get out on paper without a LOT of grief. Please do not use that as an argument. It shows ignorance. There are enough legitimate reasons to keep them away from that cesspool that you don’t have to use that one that’s very controversial and hurts people with legitimate disabilities. Does the public school over diagnose? Maybe and I firmly believe that kids with legitimate ADHD will NEVER thrive in the public school setting because the learning style/environment there is almost completely opposite of what a child with ADHD needs. But that’s completely separate from the medication issue.
For the record my kids have all tried ADHD meds. They help a lot but also have their down side. Right now, none of my kids are medicated. I’m not just saying this to defend myself I truly have a sympathy towards the judgment ADHD kids and parents receive. “It’s not real, it’s not a real diagnosis. They’re just bad kids or bad parents or both. “. Somehow we’re trying to change the childlikeness of our kids. That’s just not true. I love my ADHD kids. I love their energy, I love their creative minds but there are things I do not love FOR them. Trouble controlling their emotions, becoming over stimulated in “normal” situations. Not being able to wait in long lines or sit through long dinner conversations so many things you don’t think of that I watch my kids struggle with. By struggle I mean tears, shame, low self esteem, working harder to achieve less…it’s painful to watch as a mom.
