  • Most Christians don’t know THIS about the tower of Babel. In this presentation, Bodie Hodge shares how the secular worldview has led many people to deny what the Bible says about the tower of Babel and emphasizes the tremendous evidence supporting this biblical account.

*The Enuma Elish would later be the inspiration for the Hebrew scribes who created the text now known as the biblical Book of Genesis.* Prior to the 19th century CE, the Bible was considered the oldest book in the world and its narratives were thought to be completely original. In the mid-19th century CE, however, European museums, as well as academic and religious institutions, sponsored excavations in Mesopotamia to find physical evidence for historical corroboration of the stories in the Bible. ***These excavations found quite the opposite, however, in that, once cuneiform was translated, it was understood that a number of biblical narratives were Mesopotamian in origin.***
*Famous stories such as the Fall of Man and the Great Flood were originally conceived and written down in Sumer,* translated and modified later in Babylon, and reworked by the Assyrians ***before they were used by the Hebrew scribes for the versions which appear in the Bible.***
***In revising the Mesopotamian creation story for their own ends, the Hebrew scribes tightened the narrative and the focus but retained the concept of the all-powerful deity who brings order from chaos.*** Marduk, in the Enuma Elish, establishes the recognizable order of the world - *just as God does in the Genesis tale* - and human beings are expected to recognize this great gift and honor the deity through service.

A person can adjust the speed to 75%, or 50%, or 25% if they want the video (and of course the audio) to play more slowly. I think it defaults to "normal" (100%) every time you start a new video.

I love how Christians think Darwin himself is the foundation upon which Evolutionary theory rests. It is not. He was just one of the early, main proponents of a basic, limited version of the theory. Evolutionary theory stands upon a foundation of evidence, not the historical status of its advocates. It is Christians who base their whole worldview on the status of its advocates (Jesus and Paul). Why do Christians always try to make Evolution appear like their own religion as a means of discrediting it? Ironic, to say the least.

Was His defeat of Lucifer (Hell) and the liberation of many in Hell, after the crucifixion; the actual Atonement action that addressed the sin of the Fall and opened the way for the faithful to get past the Accuser and return to Father?

It’s interesting that in economics, there’s something called the skyscraper curse. It’s that there’s a remarkable temporal correlation between the construction of record-setting buildings and economic recessions. The trend is that once a record-setting building is announced, the recession happens before the construction is completed, if I’m remembering correctly. I believe that throughout the entire twentieth century, the correlation was close to perfect. The Mises Institute has a book on this subject that can be freely downloaded on their website. I wonder if God intentionally designed the laws of economics such that this would happen.

His studies seem to show conclusive evidence that it was located further south at the site of Eridu. According to Dr. Petrovich of the seven or eight "cities of Babel" only Eridu fits all of the Biblical criteria. While the exact location does not discount the history of the event, could a consensus be reached on the actual location? Alexander the Great had the foundations that remained of the destroyed temple removed as, he planned to rebuild the Tower before his untimely death in Babylon (as written in Josephus). All that remains is the footprint which cannot be excavated because of a high water table. There are many temples dotted throughout Iraq.

When constructing Biblical chronologies, it is important to bear in mind what source manuscript one is using: the Masoretic or those manuscripts which were used to make the (earlier) Septuagint.
The Septuagint ages given for the post-Flood patriarchs (Shem to Abraham) have many with an additional 100 years before producing an heir in the lineage. These additions accumulate to about 800 MORE years - pushing the date of Creation much further back.
Jesus would not have known of the Masoretic text, as it was produced some 250 - 300 years after His crucifixion and resurrection. All of Jesus' quotations from Scripture were taken from what would have been the source manuscripts for the Septuagint. And, if Jesus ever quoted anything of Scripture in Greek, then He would have been quoting the Septuagint.
Worth bearing in mind, especially when considering population increase from the time of the Flood to the Tower of Babel.

    Praise Jesus!
There is also some interesting information in the Book of Jasher about the tower of babel, among other things. That supposedly, it was so tall, that people who started at the bottom to bring up more materials to continue the build, it took them a year to make it up; and that when God destroyed it, it was in thirds: the bottom third was swallowed up by the earth, another third was burned with fire, and the last third is left to this day, with its circumference being a three day's walk!
The Book of Jasher is worth a read, since it is mentioned in the Bible twice by name and quoted as well, found in these verses: Joshua 10:13, 2 Samuel 1:18, 2 Timothy 3:8
    Jesus is coming soon!

Jasher names the exodus pharaoh. And it significantly falls outside of the timeline of the contenders for the exodus pharaoh proposed by most scholars and christians: the key is in the reign of his father "malul"(?), reigned from age 6 to 100, a 94 year reign... Only one monarch has ever been a recorded with a reign that long and it just so happens to be an Egyptian pharaoh: a reign of exactly 94 years from 6-100 and that is Pepi II.
The time difference of Abraham being in egypt and Moses returning to egypt is within the fitting timeline of "Djoser"(pharoah of the famine Stella) and Pepi II... Djoser would have fit more well with Joseph, as pharoahs dream had the famine and cows etc. but Abraham also went to Egypt during famine so it's not outside the worth of consideration...
Take all this into account that the 94 year reign, which is greatly argued against by many current academics and egyptologists, was scribed down by Monetho: and Monetho identifies the exodus pharaoh as someone else entirely.

Almost all people are related to Abraham. Using generations you can compute the time for the most recent common ancestor of different regions of the world. All people of European descent have Charlemagne as a common ancestor. All people with ties to the Middle East, which is most Africans, Europeans, Asians are probably related to someone like King David; pretty much the only exceptions are some South American native tribes and some island tribes in Polynesia, because everyone else separated who isolated themselves much later. It's a nice fact to know that pretty much everyone today has Abraham as an actual ancestor.

@@msquiggle3590 There are only 7-8 billion people in the world. The question Inwas answering is most recent common ancestor. Abraham would appear on the family tree of over 99 percent of the people in the world.
As for population, any model would show it takes less than 4000 years to get to the current population even starting with 2. Even using your number of 100 billion that is equal to less than 2^37. (By the way, the sum of everything from 2^1 to 2^36 equals 2^37, if your wanting the population of dead and alive.) There have been many more than 37 generations of people where the population doubled in the last four thousand years averaging four children that lived to sexual maturity for each couple. Even 100 generations is being extremely conservative, since the time to have four surviving kids (maybe eight kids total) would usually happen before a woman is 40 through most of history. Even assuming there were only 3 kids replacing every 2 adults in a generation only takes 57 generations to reach today's population, which is a ridiculously conservative growth rate.

However, that would not include Japan, the Americas, and other similarly isolates areas that people sailed to or reached before then. There are Y chromosome maps that show all the most recent ancestors, which is why we know most of the Native Americans are much more recently related to Eurasians, the last wave of them (not including the Eskimos) being around 1000 BC.

Dr.Nathaniel Jeansens research into the dna (y chromosome) is absolutely fascinating. Hours and hours of videos in detail explaining the native American Indians and all the other people groups. When they haven't had enough dna samples from rarer people groups they use language emergent techniques and the people groups own history to piece things together.
I was never interested in history...I was never interested in the Bible, but now? Wooooo!
    Love it!!

Jesus had a new bloodline. He was related by flesh through Mary, not by blood from Adam...else he would have been born into sin like us

Why do we look different from each other?

Good question. Our Creator enjoys variety,we are made in his image, so we do also. If we had a Rose garden,it's very unusual that some would only have all red roses. We like white, violet, pink, yellow & some even have violet & black roses.
Within the rose is a spectrum of variety- color, from no melanin- white roses all the way thru to black roses, lots of melanin or color pigment.
Each human is a shade of brown, just like the earth, soil, dust which we came from. Some earth is pale colored, some is brown, some red, some black. God didn't just stop at color in humans, there is hair texture, nose shape, eye shape, bone structure, height,
skull shape, hair & eye color too & more.
We are all different...now & again there are identical twins, triplets, etc which we find fascinating.
We are all flowers in God's garden and he does not prefer one over the other, due to our physical features. The flowers he feels the closest to, are those that choose to acknowledge his existance and to give him the praise he deserves.❤

      Mutations
Over many generations it would differ our looks
Blue eyes are a mutation for example
      Generally mutations are negative
Indeed blue eyes get sun issues more often

There are literally almost zero references provided to the interpretations of who the nations are decended from. I have heard some of them previously, but why would people just accept what he is saying at face value? These assertions are not from the Bible and, therefore, need evidence and references. Unless he is a prophet.

13:13 - I have my doubts about the Chinese origin. It is a known fact now - after evangelists starting learning the Chinese (since approx. the start of 20th century) - that the Chinese language personifies/encodes a lot of the Bible.
Since, the fallen people - the Canaanites, Hivites, Jebusites, etc. were extremely sinful - and thus driven out from the land, they couldn't have preserved the ancestral word of God tradition in their language, as the Chinese have, inadvertently.
Moreover, the Chinese are more ancient in China than the time when the Canaanites, Hivites, Jebusites were driven out of the land.
And, the word 'Sinites', 'Sinim' may come from 'Shem' itself.. it's just a guess.
But, one thing is sure - the generations of Ham couldn't have preserved the ancestral word of God tradition in their language - as the Chinese inadvertently have.

84 generations would only span about 2000 years would it not? So that number just seems wrong to me.
