doing friends a favour and selling them an affordable watch and then finding them on ebay would end that friendship for me. This is why we cant have so many nice watches anymore
Max is a genius and we’re lucky to have him on our side. When I saw the blue one I was like that’s cool but would be chunky on my 6.7” wrists. With the red, I covet it. I want it. I couldn’t get it in the lottery and I’m not friends with him. I’ll wear it on whimsical occasions. I’ll wear it with jeans and t shirt. Not formal or if it’s in danger. Fingers crossed for the next release.
I'm inhaling every piece of content related to the M.A.D.1 RED ... so it goes without saying: I love that watch. But that's not why I'm writing this comment. I'm writing this comment because your video really stood out when compared to all the videos I have seen. Very well made and your personal perspective is very much appreciated. Thank you very much.
$3k for a piece thats got a $35 movement in it. And who needs the seconds hand when the movements accuracy is +- 20s a day hahahah. Genius watch maker indeed.
@@HarshManohar What a bad take that was. The watch is objectively terrible value for money. You can come up with all these fancy excuses but it's a $40 movement in a $3000 watch.
@r2l100 I want to buy one. How long before you can get me one. If it's so easy? I'm sure you can make a pretty penny. Guess what I'll buy 10 if you can make one for $300.
I'm sure it's a great novelty but the primary function of a watch is to tell the time and all the frippery should be secondary or alongside and not primary - particularly if you're paying thousands of dollars.
Good to see some different approach in the watch world but little bit boring for my taste. For sure younger generations will love it....some period of time.
Won the raffle and had a month to think if I should spend my money on it. Finally spent it. I am aware that the bill of materials will be 100-150 dollars and the labour and SG&A another 300-500 but I feel the price tag is more so for the creativity and audacity of the watch maker. There are many amazing watches at that price point but none as unique in my opinion. I see it as a driving watch something you put on a long drive on a holiday and just appreciate the time.
@@theaj1nkya the design costs alone are probably the single largest portion, yes it's based on an external movment, but it has a completely custom designed and built complication from MB&F. That costs a lot of money to develop and to pay the designers. Add to that manufacturing cost, of which the highest percentage is probably from the large peices of sapphire. My guess would be that the majority of the 2900 is design cost not just because it's a custom designed complication, but because MB&F engineers are very VERY well paid and that design cost is spread out over just the 450 made + the original MAD 1's.

All of you that found this stupidly pricy, you can go back to your Omega or Tudor (*yawned*) as you clearly don’t know what this piece means coming from Max and team. I can’t wait to get mine later this year.
Thanks for the video. Are you going to do any more travel watch-related videos? They were great. Also, do you know what happened to Mark at C&C? I miss his hidden gem videos. Thanks.
I mean, yeah, you can afford if IF you are a Friend of Max. But I'm not, and I don't see anything even under $10k that I can buy. Which is unfortunate, this would be a great watch in a collection.
I just don't get it myself. Bit pointless imho...guess it's a cheap way to get into the brand if you're a desperate fanboy, not for me but good to see nonetheless. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻
I really like most MB&F watches I've seen ... some of them are pure genius. But I find this one hideous. It looks like a cheap child's toy spinning away on your wrist. Pass.

Well done and congratulations on your MAD1 Red. And good to hear that good guys like Max are doing well. Best wishes from Singapore.

Reminds me of the spinning rims of the early 2000s. Pretty cool

Very well worded. The closing sentence sums it up nicely!
This watch is so stupid.
Fidget spinner and Bladerunner combined on the wrist. Great video!
MSRP 2900 chf, Grey market $10,000 USD.

The technical sheet was missing at the end of the video
its jaw dropping that this watch actually costs 2900 CHF
Very cool! Is it limited edition or just for friends again - if not how to get one???
I just want a watch that I can see what time it is, looks good, and robust.
Imagine having a bad day at work with your head spinning and you look down your wrist and your watch goes spinning as well

This is the way I wanna live my life; perpetually late to everything, but just slightly
I kinda don't know what to say.
E = mad 1^2
If Nico Leonard lost weight.
Reading the time is not secondary. Its just a drivers watch 🙂
I called Hodinkee today to buy a $7K watch and they hung up on me because I would not leave a message and wait for a "remote" person to call me back.
This is ridiculous.
Cool but way too thick for me.
MB&F soul but Miyota inside.....
2900 for a Miyota 8 series??
Man! They are joking. 😄
The problem with most of the watches I can afford, they are sold out.
3 grand for miyota. y'all wildin'
Still being flipped for a healthy profit $8-10k.
So, it's a fidget spinner you wear on your wrist.
"Readonable 2900"
Contains a Miyota 800
Seriously
Big fan of MB&F, not so much this watch.
Taking the time off the dial is deal breaker for me. Also, the crazy spinning router is too much.
Meh, $3000 or $300000. They don't sell it, so I can't buy it either way.

Just get a Casio bro. Amazing value for money, can tell the seconds, much more accurate and only costs a little bit more than what it costs to make

It's like when Penguin spins his umbrella to hypnotize Max Schreck in Batman Returns (1992).

From one sentence to the next, to go from democratising watches (making the accessible and so on) to a $3000 timepiece is ridiculous.
