I always thought the name is a german wordplay. Because „Uhrwerk“ means „Movement.“ Uhr meaning watch and Werk meaning mechanism. Ur is a german prefix which in this case i believe is used to emphasize the „werk“ as „original.“ Meaning original mechanism.
“uhrwerk” with an h in between also means “watch movement” in german. plus, the prefix “ur” is also used to point out the origin of something, e.g. in words like “urgroßvater” which translates to great-grandfather. lastly, “werk” can stand for several things, for example: work, factory, action, mechanism, opus etc. putting it together and you’re left with a pun-ish word which could translate to “watch factory, watch movement, ancient work” and much more. yes, german is weird :)
seems like alot of embellishing of story for marketing. all they did was paint a already existing watch black, not exactly something that takes "inspiration." awesome watch and strap design regardless
