This video will address commonly reported issues like
(i) Dot4 usb port not found.
(ii) PCL5 driver not found.
(iii) Prints the page with text, "Unsupported Personality PCLXL".
Some viewers told me that the PCL5 drivers are no longer available on HP website. You can download them using the google drive links provided below.

From the HP download page, I changed to Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 in the 64bit versions AND the 32bit versions, and none of them gave me the PCL5 option, only PCL6. You said the PCL6 version does not work, so I did not try. I would appreciate any further suggestions. I thank you for your time and expertise.

IT'S WORKING! First I downloaded alternate driver 3055 PCL5. Then changed the Dot 4 port to the back-side of my ThinkPad laptop, and IT WORKED! Thank goodness, because this HP LaserJet 1012 is a great printer (when it works lol). I'm happy. Thanks for the instructions.

Thank you regarding DOT4 needed to be downloaded hint. I personally have most success with Laserjet 5200 PCL5 driver for Laserjet 1010.

At 2:10 you say to download the PCL5 driver, which has a date of Nov. 2, 2015. Now I don't get that driver, but two others (neither PCL5, rather PCL6 and PostScript), both dated Sept. 8, 2020. Has HP removed the PCL5 driver? In the pinned comment you said you provide a direct link in the description--ok, I see it in Google drive. BTW, the "Change" button on the upper right is now a " Choose a different OS" link on the left.

I got it to work, but it's printing faint. The toner is fine, I used to have this same printer connected to a Win7 machine & it printed better quality. Is there some way to make it print darker?
Sorry I have no idea about the fainted print. May be it's because of some issue in the printer head
I have windows 8.1 64 bit and trying to install HP Lasetjet 1010. I have followed every step in this video but unable to get my printer to work. When I install PCL6 then I get "Unsupported Personality: PCLXL" error. and on PCL 5 system does not even send any command to printer.
You can try uninstalling all pcl5 and plc6 drivers. And then update your windows and then try again by following the same steps as shown in the video

If it prints then I think the driver works. Regarding printing of blank pages, it may be because of the cartridge problem. Please check your cartridge
