  • Hello everyone! Boatstogo "alnk.to/2jM9pbC" contacted me recently, asking if I was willing to try out an experimental transom wheels tube that only uses 1 pin instead of 2. I obviously agreed, I love this stuff. Anyway, the tubes are supposes to allow you to use just one pin and be able to bring up and down the wheels without having to remove the pin at all. In this video you'll see that they got the right idea, only needing a few corrections to make it viable. I like their innovation, all while maintaining quality and affordability in mind. Although these tubes are not currently in production, it would eventually be once they are tuned.

I'd look into a longer bar to increase wheel clearance. For wheels up mode, hold down straps of some sort could provide tension, less rattle, and position assurance during rough rides. The slot proto will make the transition from wheels up to down modes a lot easier. Nice!

Looks good saves all the hassle of pins. Once issues are ironed out think these will be a game changer.

Looks like a great idea. HOWEVER, as with all prototypes, the bugs need to be worked out. I don't think smaller wheels would be the way to go. The bigger the wheel, the better the "roll" factor.
    Keep us posted

I agree. Bigger wheels is the way to go, so making the tubes longer may be the way to do it.

ALSO MAYBE USING RUBBER PINS INSTEAD OF METAL ONES THEY WONT SOUND AND THEY WONT GET RUST

The weight may break them. These stainless steel pins don't rust that easily

...I mostly use one of the transom brackets to mount my sonar transducer...I wish I had solid wheels on my tires, the air-filled ones are a real pain to push under water to pin them in place....

Yeah, that is true. These are actually air tires as well.

    Saludos from sunny south FL!
Just a suggestion: wider tire, but flipped/inverted inwards via a deep dish plastic wheel.
I have a set of something comparable for kayaks & iSups. Carry 4 at a time.

the brocraft ones i have work fine, I don't see this as necessarily an improvement...what i really wish is that they would pre-install any kind of wheels.

The idea behind this is that one could place the wheels and have no need to remove pin. It needs more work, but once it does, it'll be a viable option for some of us.

I don't like leaving the boat in the water. Transom wheels is the way to go

Looks like the slot needs to be about half as long and it's game on.

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  3 месяца назад

Yeah, that could also work but it may reduce the surface area where the tube rests on the bracket, making it more likely for it to bend or crack. Thankfully this is just a prototype. Thank you so much for your input!

I almost watched all videos and subscribed. I bought a sd365r in 2016. I used the boat a few times and stored it till a week ago. I aired up and everything was like day one. But my oar lock pads and the whole transom...all 8 seams delaminated. I was happy it was in the yard and not on the water. I will basically reinstall the transom.
I would like to think the newer models would be fine. I am trying to decide on which one! The old one was 130lbs with the aluminum floor. The cb290 seams fine for 2up cruising. I really want a back pack/ beach cart transport. There is alot of fun in the research. My 365 was used with a trolling motor. But I want to be able to plane in the lightest and easiest to transport setup. Maybe 290, 330 or kaboat. Any thoughts would be great Thanx for all the videos.

Thank you, sir, for watching a silly man's videos on RUclips lol. For ease of use, a kaboat would be perfect. I see myself using my SK385XL most of the time over my ZK380 because it is easy to lug around and you can plane easily with a 6hp outboard. I recently got a Hangkay 12hp outboard, and that kaboat flies on the water now.

If you want to go even smaller, the SK396 is also a good choice, but it will not do well in the ocean, tackling waves and wake. The SK385XL can do that because it has massive bladders.

@@ErickMartinSucre one day I will FB. And I really should get a channel for my repair for everyone. Thanx again. I have been spending alot of time researching and debating water craft. This all started as a younger version of me wanting to wakeboard in isolated areas. I got caught up in a move and now live IBX. So I have it all. Rivers to the Ablemarle sound. I can trailer, truck or compact car.
Really leaning towards 290, 330 or kaboat. I guess the greatest part is I can upgrade or get smaller. I do wonder if a 12ft kaboat and a 6hp would be exciting for 2 people. Or a 330 and 12hp 2 stroke would be more useful. I have plenty of big boat experience and wakeboarded and wakeskated for over 3 decades...
kinda cool Eric! You have explored this option so well. Very best wishes on your life and channel. You help many to live the water dream.

@@DanWolk-zo5kf If you don't mind a 2-stroke outboard, the 12hp will help with 2 people on the kaboat. Surprisingly good those motors are, lightweight and powerful.
