Grandpa Joe is one of the great monsters of all fiction. The most evil of all the characters.
Grandpa Joe is a villain, guy stayed in bed, refused to work, then all the sudden he is out like nothing happened for a dang chocolate factory tour. Plus he almost got charley in trouble drinking fizzy lifting drinks.

Both sets of grand parents have been bed ridden for 20 years. So that means well before Charlie was born they were in that bed. Charlie was probably conceived and they were there.

I never noticed this until now but that isn’t even the right type of Wonka Bar. The wrapper was isn’t that of a regular bar and I’m pretty sure that bar is a circle not a rectangle.

It just dawned on me. How did grandpa get Charlie a Wonka bar with his tobacco money if he never got out of bed? If I was grandma, I’d be asking the same question!
I always assumed he just asked Charlie's mom to get him one with the money

As I got older seeing this movie the more I looked at the inventing room it looks like a meth lab/laundry mat. The gobstoppers look like play doh which kinda makes sense since what 2-3 yr old didn't eat their small share of it.
Fun fact, the reason why the Oompa Loompas are even in the film is that they were originally African Pygmies.

Also last time I watched this movie I noticed that yes the Candyman is letting the children behind the counter into his back room and I don't know if that was socially acceptable in the 70s but I just find myself screaming at the screen

Man, the original Charlie from this movie is way more depressed over not finding the golden ticket than the Johnny Depp version of Charlie.
Seriously, I pretty sure that even Charlie from the Johnny Depp version knows what the odds are of him finding the golden ticket and he’s not too hurt about it when he finds out that the “last ticket” has been found.

The original was so badly shot; the film looked like it was directed by a stiff and clueless bore. So many weird scenes from the dancing geriatric to the miserable kids who faced draconian punishments. The Johnny Depp version was so much better. Like comparing a Da Vinci with Dogs playing Poker art. But that's what Americans love, sugar and empty calories. Also; Gene Wilder was sooooo much better in The World's Greatest Lover, a very funny film.
