playing bowling on and off for over 15 years,i didnt know these 2 important keys u gentlemen point out on the video. Thx,I do really learned a lot from this amazing tips.
Great stuff guys. The nerd in me just realized something at 4:30am. Having been at this since the late 70's, first as a bowler and later as a coach and driller, the geometry hasn't so much changed as it has shifted and moved around... Back in the day (holy CRAP I'm gettin' old!!!), body motion was more a study of parallels and angles and ball positioning and motion was very linear. In the modern game, body motion has become very linear and ball positioning and motion is much more angular with constant parallels being used in relation to travel. I'm quite certain this comparison has been made before but my dusty grey matter just now realized it. Again, your videos are fantastic, guys. Thanks for all the work you guys put into these productions.
I’ve never brought my backswing further back than my hips. Always trying to power the ball. My style definitely creates some inconsistency throughout a series but, I feel that if I try and bring the ball farther back and higher on my backswing I’m going to end up throwing it directly into the approach. I guess I’ve never really tried it and I would definitely have to make sure I was away from any other bowlers that day.. haha. In any case, great videos guys! Keep ‘em coming!
My problem is that I dont have a high back swing as Kyle is doing. I do understand it is the ball motion like a pendulum but it doesnt work for me and I have a very low back swing. It seems so amazing to me, how it is done!!!
Do you guys offer coaching at all? I'm sure a lot of your subscribers would be interested, even if it's just video reviews. Could create some good content! Loved seeing you guys make TV for doubles last month, awesome job!
@@BradandKyleBowl good luck in the PBA doubles tournament by the way. What position are you guys in? Belmo's my guy but I hope you guys do really well. Please beat sean rash.
The goal of any shot (once you have found the mark you are shooting for) is to arrive at the release in the same exact position every time. These guys are providing the basic mechanics of the shot. The background reasoning is "balance". If you do as they are saying, you will find that your head is very still throughout the approach and shot. There's no head bobbing, or hopping around on one foot after letting go. So, the approach has to have some timing, where the ball is located at the full back of the swing in relation to what step you are on, all culminating with the ball next to your foot as you slide and release. Follow through is important to keep balance. So, if your timing is correct, your head won't be bobbing all over and you will be balanced, giving your best opportunity to hit that mark with the same release. Guys, please do a video on timing, balance. Most league bowlers have no idea that their head is bobbing all over the place. One added note, why head bobbing is an issue....because it's like a pendulum. If your head bobs one way, you have to compensate with your body (and arm with that ball out there swinging you around). Keep your balance in check with timing and ball position and your head will remain still. Never coached, but I've been at this since 1968. If you want to work on your balance and timing, do it on camera and see what you look like.
Are these both part of Mark Baker's DVD The System? I know for a fact the position of the ball being underneath the head at the bottom of the swing is one of them for sure. Not sure if the other was.
Hi guys, I used to be a regular bowler, averaging 163 per game, using a solid core polyester Columbia 300 White Dot 14lb ball (1997/98). So I've decided to take it up again, now I have some free time again to play (Still using the Columbia White Dot). Presently, my approach has to many steps, I'm cranking the ball at 21.5mph and both are making me totally inconsistent. Played 8 games back to back recently and my average was only 94!! Does your swing and release technique differ from a resin/urethane ball, compared to the polyester ball? I've been watching the plastic ball championship from 2009-13 to try and get some extra tips....
Thanks for this. I've been struggling with my swing for a while. I love your channel and the content you post... you guys seem down to earth! Btw Kyle -- it's great to see you up and bowling. How long post-op was this video made?
Can you show a swing with kyle playing a straight line to show the swing to the left of the head. As i feel the opening of the upper body to throw the ball out is overstating how much to the left of the head the swing is.
My issue it I will cross over my body on my release. I am guessing when i swing back I am not directly under my head nor moving my hips out of the way.
I got a different style of bowling (pinky and ring and thumb in ball) it allows me to stay way inside the ball. Check out my shorts to see some great pin action.
It's simple, but not easy. As with other swings, golf for instance, its about getting velocity and direction right at release. One controversy is the height of the back swing, traditionally it should be level with the shoulder, but Pete Weber's is much higher. Another is the amount of hook, Pete's is big, but Walter Ray Williams is small. Video at ruclips.net/video/C7-h5E0TNEg/видео.html
As a Right-Handed Bowler, I'm not always able to post the shot at the file line, which causes me to cross my body, falling off the shot at the release. Any suggestions on how to practice to correct "falling off the shot at release"?
I am a college bowler,, if you want to fix tour balance the first thing I look at on people is your timing because if you have late timing that will cause u to lose balance,, so check your timing first. If u have good timing and still fall of your shot, then look at your tempo, as fast as u bring the ball up into your swing u should bring it down that fast, tempo tempo tempo, hope that helps
Good to know where my head and arms should be, but what drill would you guys recommend for practicing this? The 2 and 1 step drill? Or even a 3 step drill?
One step drill is how I start off every practice session with. I think that really helps me focus on getting my body into the proper finish position, keeps my head steady, and allows me to really get a good feel for the ball. Not sure how much it would help with these components, but it's still a useful drill to incorporate.
Had to watch a video that I had of myself. And this is something I do. Great video not something I would normally think about. Do you guys do any form critiques?
My swing is right under my head before I release the ball, but at the release point it somehow ends up the right of my head (being released 7-9 boards right of my ankle). How do you think I should solve this guys?
Sounds like you're not bringing your arm back and forwards in a straight motion. You might be opening up your shoulders too much and also not keeping your hand under the ball. Focus on bringing the ball back and forward as straight as possible and maybe slow your swing down a bit. I'm no pro, but I had a similar problem and slowing my swing down and making sure I was over the ball with my body, under it with my hand, and square with my shoulders worked for me. Once I felt I had it down, I sped it up to go longer down the lane. But I still slow it down if I'm looking for an earlier ball reaction.
Great video. But how the hell do I control where the ball is on the down swing without muscling it. Like if I want the ball closer to the left side of my head when it gets towards the downswing.
You need proper upper body lean. See Kyle’s body lean to the right and the ball hang directly down below his shoulder. Which puts the ball in the optimal leverage position
Yea that's my million dollar question as well cause I'm 6'7 and in my backswing my arm isn't straight and I'm having problems keeping my wrist straight cause I'm so used to opening my wrist like Pete, Amletto or my guy Tommy Jones. I have some videos of me bowling on my RUclips page btw.
This is accurate except you guys don't really give any tips on how to actually make sure you're doing these things. Here is something which has helped me keep the ball in line with my head: Timing: Right when the ball starts to come down from the backswing is when you need to be starting your slide. This is important so you can get the push off leg out of the way of the ball's path. If that leg is in the way, you are going to have to bring the ball around it, and as a result the ball is NOT going to be aligned with your head.
I subscribed. Not because of the video, although I enjoyed it and it definitely taught me something, but because of this comment and the subsequent response! Hilarious, bruh lol!!!

How are you able to pull your ball back that far... Are you squeezing the ball to not drop it..
Man this help alot, thanks guys.
keep these videos coming guys! love them

Great release, sometimes my thumb still stuck
Thanks for the videos
How do I release it close to the ankle and lay it down and not loft it??
How heavy of a ball do you guys use?
I wish you guys would explain how to get the ball in that position what is it that you were keying on to get it in that position

play football
people do it diffrent like me i dont swing that mush and my game is good
@Sydnie Wilson thank you. I'll definitely try that next time
So i guess Kyle made a speedy recovery. ;)
ok but what's this figure 8 thing where you have to push away to the opposite side of your breakpoint? not everyone does that
Good vid guys, i have an issue with bending my elbow. Is that caused by just muscling the ball?
How do u stop turning your are like a chicken wing. Also how do u work on not drifting toward the arrow

What about the feet? Position of the feet is important
