This is my first year doing an advent calendar. I got some award money for my quilts at the local agricultural fair and decided to buy some advent calendars for myself. I was able to get on the Open Gate Quilts waiting list and that box, a 12 day advent, just arrived. Also, Carmon Quilts is doing her first box this year and I was able to order that in the very beginning and got a really good discount. The price is now $100 more than what I paid. That's a 24 day box. I should get that next week. I'm really looking forward to December 1st!
Oh! I missed both of those... but they sound super fun! And I LOVE that you spent your award money on a fun that for yourself! Congrats on your win at the Fair! 🥰
Honestly, I don't have high hopes for the Hemline advents, but I feel like they've been around forever and they were relatively inexpensive, so I'm giving them a shot...
Hiya from across the pond. As a fellow black tea drinker I totally love the tea calendar! Looks like the Hemline’s is this year. Also (disclaimer I am an Artisan but) Aurifil also has a calendar this year. 😉
Hahaha... it was actually really fun! I started ordering months ago, and have been saving them in a corner while they arrive... to finally tear into them (if only to see the Advent, not yet the gifts inside) was so fun!! 🥰
Oh my goodness would I love to be in your shoes on December first...What a blast of joy this is going to be. I'm so looking forward to this fun with you. MSQC is my favorite. I've always started opening gifts on Day 1.
The Twelve days of Christmas is the period between the birth if Christ and the coming of the Magi, known as the Epiphany. The period spans from December 25 to January 6, ending with twelfth night, by which time decorations should be removed. If one were to be lucky enough to have an Advent calendar and a twelve days box, the opening could be stretched from December first through January 6. I think I'll try that next year!
For the Missouri star quilt co , Jenny has a video each day to show the surprise and explain how to sew or make it … you open the gift from day 1 Can’t wait to see all the advents❤️
If the man quilts, then I think a quilting Advent would still work for them... but if they don't, something that speaks to their interests or hobbies? I've gotten ads for whiskey and wine Advent Calendars, as well as puzzle Advent Calendars. If they have a particular spirit they drink, or like puzzles, those would might be an option? I have a friend who buys a cheese Advent every year (the one she does has a funny joke inside). I think I saw an Advent that was all items from local Maryland small businesses. I'm not in Maryland, but that one sounded intriguing... Of course things like chocolate, tea, and coffee are not gendered, so those advents might be a good fit? Maybe try words that describe your man, and add "advent" to see what comes up? I've been tickled at the different kinds of Advents I've found!
Girl! Lynne & Marlan of Soft Squares did their 2nd Advent Box A and Box B. Sandi of Bella Rose is doing an Advent for the first time - and of course yours! Those are the three I ordered this year.
Oh! Those look fabulous! I shied away from Advent boxes that looked like they had a lot of fabric, since I only use Art Gallery Fabrics, and a mystery quilt of non-AGF wouldn't be a good fit for me.
If it has 24 /25, you begin with #1..ending with #24/25. If it has just the 12 days. You can start Dec. 12th. OR open one every other day. That is what I think.
@CarolinaMoore I had yarn advents that named the days and colors on a separate card that started with 1, and a lot of unboxing videos do that too. I am excited to see what these calendars give you. And you can't go wrong with tea and chocolate 😁
I've often been hesitant because spending lots of money to get cheap trinkets (like a bobbin or metal thimble) would not be fun for me. But this year, I'm leaning in! 🥰
They all look fabulous. Last year was my first time advent box, and your advent calender. I had so much fun doing it again this year. I have added the Domesticity box this year. I have not received it yet. I always start at day 1. Can't wait until December 1st. We are going to have some fun 🎉
It is going to be a *fabulous* December! I can't wait, and am looking forward to the arrival of those last 2 advents! I do appreciate how communicative Domesticity has been. 🥰
Oh! Just looked it up, because you're right, I didn't see that one! It wouldn't be a good fit for me, though... I exclusively use Art Gallery Fabrics, so I didn't order any of the primarily-fabric advents, because I couldn't find any that only use AGF. But, it does sound super fun! I hope you have a blast sewing up your project! 🥰
This is so fun!! I love to see all the advent calendar’s. I’ve watched yours and MSQC the last couple years and ordered yours this year since it was more affordable. 💕 🙏Can’t wait to do it along with you. I had no idea there were so many out there.
The way i've done it my whole life was Dec 1 is # 1, Dec 2 is #2, etc until Christmas Eve #24. Doesn't mean that was right, but the idea is a countdown until Jesus' birth.
Thank you for sharing such a fun and wide variety of advent calendar options! It is going to be a lot of fun to watch you open all of these. Personally I have always opened day 1 on Dec 1 through to the end that matches the day. Aurifil blessed their followers by hosting a giveaway in late June for one of their followers to their inaugural Aurifil Thread Advent Calendars and then by picking my name on July 2nd as the winner!! To be honest if I could afford one of these advent calendars it would be yours with the bonus days & 1/2yd bundle-I actually really wanted to do your 2023 diamond one, anyways perhaps next year. Thanks again 🤗❣️
Oh my! How lucky to win an Aurifil Advent! I missed that one, so I've ordered it this morning! And maybe your luck will continue! I'll be doing giveaways throughout December... and I'll be giving away a couple of my 2023 Advents! 🥰
@ thank you very much-I was totally shocked, it’s the first & only insta giveaway I’ve one! WOO HOO-I think that you’re going to like it! Wouldn’t that be cool if I could win one of your advent calendars? It would be a b-day (Dec 23) & Christmas present all in one!
@joscreativewanderings they'll be random drawings for folks who comment (both live and replay), so you'll have several chances! My SIL and MIL are both Christmas babies as well - the 21st and 24th. 🥰
I hope the giveaways won’t only be for the live viewers as I am a teacher and will be working at 9 am Pacific on weekdays…I will have to watch the replays!
I already had plans to do giveaways both for live viewers and replay viewers. And the weekends will be pre-recorded, so those will have no live viewers. Lots of options to win prizes, even if you can't watch live. 🥰
@SaraMc-ez2mv and thanks for being a teacher... I know it isn't always easy, but I can name several teachers that were so influential for me, and also several of my kids' teachers that I could never thank enough for how they've positively impacted my kids' lives! 🥰
Great Question! I'm not particularly religious, but Advent is based in Christianity. It is the celebration of the 4 weeks (24 days) before Christmas (Jesus's birthday for Christians). But, 24 days of gifts gets expensive. So, leaning in to the "12 Days of Christmas" song, some Advents just do 12 days.
I originally did my Advent as 12 days to keep down the cost, and also because December is so busy, I didn't think folks would want to make 24 quilt blocks. But I got so many requests to add days... so I did! 🥰
@@CarolinaMoore not unlike the hemline ones that appear to just have basic tools, most quilt blocks can be just generic and useful. I like that yours has options... (BUT I don't like mysteries, I want to know what I am buying.) Good thing there are options out there for everyone.
Yes! I like the magic of the mystery, but I know not everyone does... at the request of folks like you, I have done a spoiler video on my Advent... ruclips.net/video/NhXoNnNEe7c/видео.htmlsi=z45mIdtijH9PtY39 That might help?
It is a lot of money. But I think it will bring a lot of joy to me, and those who watch. We'll see if the items inside are worth the money I spent ... but I think it will be a fun experiment, nonetheless. 🥰

Soft squares has 2 advents and A box And a B box A is still available. Quilty advents project based
This is going to be fun! I did an unboxing of the 2022 hemline one and it wasn’t great so Ive got fingers crossed for you!
Honestly, I don't have high hopes for the Hemline advents, but I feel like they've been around forever and they were relatively inexpensive, so I'm giving them a shot...
I have two this year - yours for Dec. 1-24, and then a 12-day mini puzzle calendar for Christmas through Epiphany.
Oh! I've been getting ads for puzzle advents as well! Seriously considered those... looks fun! 🥰
This looks like tons of fun! Looking forward to seeing what is in them all!
Me too! 🥰
Hiya from across the pond. As a fellow black tea drinker I totally love the tea calendar! Looks like the Hemline’s is this year. Also (disclaimer I am an Artisan but) Aurifil also has a calendar this year. 😉
Oh! I missed seeing the Auriful Advent! Thanks for letting me know, I've gone ahead and ordered it! 🥰
You don’t have mine in your mix! Although it’s not a quilt one- 24 days of bag making. Looking forward to seeing all your goodies 🎉❤
How did I miss that? Is it sold out? If not... drop a link! 🥰
Will be fun to watch you open all the advent calendars!
I hope so! 🥰
Holy Biscuits Carolina!😂😂😂♥️
Thank you sharing all the wonderful Advent boxes with us! So. Much. Fun‼️♥️🌲♥️
Hahaha! I hope it makes for a fun December! 🥰
@ - It will be EPIC FUN🎉🎉🎉🎉♥️
@helenpeddycord2241 I hope so!! 🥰
Opening all those packages must have been exhausting. Just like Christmas morning. Thanks for sharing the variety of Advent Calendars for gifting. 🎄
Hahaha... it was actually really fun! I started ordering months ago, and have been saving them in a corner while they arrive... to finally tear into them (if only to see the Advent, not yet the gifts inside) was so fun!! 🥰
I would start with #1 in the Missouri Star box and count down to #24. I think that is why those lower numbers are on top.
That sounds like the consensus. Though I thought I saw #22 near the top?
Oh my goodness would I love to be in your shoes on December first...What a blast of joy this is going to be. I'm so looking forward to this fun with you. MSQC is my favorite. I've always started opening gifts on Day 1.

Can’t wait to see all the advents❤️
Thanks for the tip! This is my first year doing the MSQC Advent, so that's helpful. 🥰
And I also can't wait! 🥰
I was wondering if you found any for men? This sounds like a fun time for December.
If the man quilts, then I think a quilting Advent would still work for them... but if they don't, something that speaks to their interests or hobbies?

I can’t wait to watch you open all of these! This is my third year of opening. Yours. I also have msqc, open gate, soft squares, and a Lego one!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who got several Advents! And my kiddos have the Lego ones this year as well. 🥰

I wasn’t worried about you cutting your skin…just the fabric 😜. Love the ceramic blade I need one!
Hahaha... good point! Yes, the ceramic blade is my favorite for opening boxes! Here is my Amazon Affiliate link for the blade: amzn.to/4g065Hb
The way they are packaged, I think you start with 1 and the numbers match the date. Except the 13 Days because they specified it was to start with 13.
Oh! Thanks for letting me know! 🥰

A yarn Advent also sounds fun! And I agree, the tea and chocolate are going to be super yummy! 🥰
This looks like fun! I've never bought one but have always regretting it when seeing what's behind those doors.
I've often been hesitant because spending lots of money to get cheap trinkets (like a bobbin or metal thimble) would not be fun for me. But this year, I'm leaning in! 🥰
@@CarolinaMoore Can't wait to see what you get!
Me too! I thought about opening one random door of each during this video... but the video was already so long, and I didn't want to spoil anything! 🥰
What a cute idea! I will be watching! Start with number 1
Sounds like that is the consensus. 🥰 I can't wait for December 1st! ❤️
