As an Architect, the statement of “it will generate floor plans so you can focus on the actual design” Is insanely concerning! The floor plan is a HUGE part of the design. What are you saying?
Is making pretty pictures all you care about? That’s designing for your ego, not for humans or making life better for a buildings users.
Your job is to make high quality space for a human to use/live in, the function of that at a layout level is VITAL…if all you doing is ticking regulatory boxes for compliance, you have failed already.
Use AI to help geenrate ideas, but remember to keep it human and always apply the considerations of context, the clients brief and the unique aspects of that project specifically (Nothing shown here is doing most of this yet)
Right now AI is still working in isolation, especially in these examples. What about context, none of those layouts took sun angles, wind, rainfall, access, neighbouring context, sight lines and many other things into consideration. This is HORRIBLE!
AI CAN if done right assist, but this is not it…AI MIGHT in the future be able to do some of these things with the same considerations as a human, but you will need to give it all that context and teach it how to analyse it, weight it up, consider a brief to weight the relevant aspects correctly and then actually arrange space in compliance with regulations and codes and then the specific clients brief. Turning that into a working product as a model or functioning plan is still a fair way off.
Once AI can start driving software like revit to execute these thigns with the tools to bring those context consideratiosn into it, then sure, maybe we getting closer, but anyone working on that? Not that I have discovered.

Ai certainly isn’t something to use for the final design. Like you said, it is still working in isolation so I does understand the context, lighting and other factors that are required to create an intentional design. This video was intended to show some of the ai tool available but they still have a long way to come.

I agree 100%. Even in webinars they present tools very shallowly, but when you try to actually implement them with real projects, the applications are extremely limited, if not entirely useless (for the moment). I got so sick of this inconsistency, I prepared a workshop taking place soon to show practical ways we can actually use AI in our architectural process. Many of these fancy tools don't even make it to the selection in my opinion. As you say, maybe in the future things will be different.

A tip to add to your research if you want to take this serious is “How was this AI trained” who’s data was used, was it trained on data that granted permission to be used for AI models…I can 10000% assure you the last tool did not get permission to train their data on Zaha’s architecture. They scrapping peoples worka nd training on it without their permission or knowledge. This is an issue as how is the IP of the result handled.
You need to be responsible when you promote these things, as I personally believe it is neglegent to not understand the legalities of these tools when blindly praising them and marketing them to people with almost no consideration for these above factors.
Yeah, AI is trneding, don’t get dragged into feeling like you need to talk about it for views, you cna do it responsibly.
If you are indeed an Architect, you are a professional and have a code of conduct of some kind to uphold. Let that filter through to every aspect of your outputs.

You make a great point about learning how the ai was trained. That is definitely an area where there is some controversy, especially when it comes to using the intellectual property of an architect. I really appreciate the time you took to write this thoughtful comment. I understand that the things I say and promote come with a liability and accountability on my part, but I do think it’s valuable to show what’s out there.

how would you know which is best suited for you as an architect, and please share insight on ai use apart from rendering process or image generation

At the moment a lot of ai tools are fun to play with and are not practical. There are some ai generating 3D assets from a text description and others helping with organizing constructions documents. I am not super familiar with those but it is still early in their development

Nice video, Is there a AI program where i can put in a floorplan (pdf) and make adjustable again? Need it to create some plans for a few offices in our building but don`t want to create the floorplan from scratch...

You can use finch3d and import your drawings into there, but it might have to be a dwg file. There aren’t any where you can make it editable from pdf

Always good to see your videos, keep it up! 🙋‍♂️
Btw, are you currently seeking video editors or a thumbnail designer to enhance viewers, retention, or CTR?
If yes, May I send you a previous work sample?

For... architects? bro no architect is gonna use these trash ass results and you'd get laughed at from any serious firm or client. Those models were exceptionally offensive to claim as "impressive". Want some advice? Let other people pave the way and make mistakes on the bleeding edge.

Some of the tools like Laiout and architechtures are seriously used by firms to help them. Some of the others are just for testing out ideas in the early stages, so nothing to serious where it’s involving the final design

@@thearchitecturegrind laiout is the one tool that is *possibly* useful -- for low fidelity mockups in the sales process. I am curious about the "ai" in this product. Is it an LLM? Which one? I would be curious to look at the actual results for this but not curious enough to schedule a demo.

@@FizzleStudiosLtd haha, they don't specifically say which type of ai modeling it is, but people have claimed its RLM (reinforced learning models). Its most helpful if you are design office spaces.
