So -- Denise didn't want to be a divorcee or a widow -- she wanted to be a murderer.
Winchester quoted her as saying ‘I’d rather be a rich widow than a poor divorcée.’ She also claimed the reason she couldn’t just divorce Mike was because her Christian beliefs went against it. She is a cold hearted POS and she had him wrapped around her finger. Brian’s brains were all stored below his belt.
@@TentinQuarantino_ I know rt, her religion says OK to murder but not divorce. Yet she could divorce Brian!
@@spicyirwin5835 Yeah, says it all, ridiculous.
Thanks law and crime I keep these cases going all day every day you guys are the greatest keep up the great work
I know I am kind of randomly asking but do anybody know a good site to stream new tv shows online?
Eerie seeing skeletal remains of Mike wearing his wedding ring 🥲
He unknowingly married a Monster.
...And no reaction whatsoever from Denise! What a warm hearted soul she truly is ;)
This lawyer is top notch! Excellent work and presentation!
He thought he was going to have a nice hunt with his best friend. Then he probably wondered by his best friend from elem school who he loved was trying to kill him then did by shooting him. That's not what friends r for, or wives r for. Dang, Mike was such a good human being! Denise was not worth it!
How could she conspire to murder her husband -ON THEIR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY? It’s extremely easy to lose faith in Humankind after watching this case and others like it. Then again, some people might argue that people that can do this aren’t “human”. Have to feel sorry for Ainsley -Mike and Denise’s daughter.
'cos Mike was hoping to rekindle their failing marriage on that day. Denise didn't want to rekindle. But she also didn't want a divorce.... enter gullible lover Brian to make her a rich widow; instead of a poor divorcee...
To think.....2 people with bad intent....caused hundreds of people to need to be engaged in this from beginning to end. Millions of man hours and dollars...... And here I am watching it...engaged. If anyone ever questioned the true cost of evil and criminality they need look no further.
Have some killed for money that's act of evil I rather be poor and have my conscience clean
Thanks Law and Crime!
I wonder if Denise even put some of the insurance money in some kind of account for when her daughter turned of age to receive it for her future?..probably not if Denise was so greedy for the money. I pray that the daughter gets psychological help after all of this. Her own mother had her dad taken out of her life, and he truly loved his little girl. Her mother also kept her from her grandma, and all of her dad,s side of family who loved her also. Truly an evil mother, who didn’t love her daughter more than own self. Unbelievable!😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Sounds like a psychopath/ narcissist
She is a witch.
Need him on that Dan Markel case..... That's dragging out...half a damn decade..
Can't believe she's really on trial!
Didn't think the prosecution would ever file charges against her... especially after Winchester's arrest.
What was Denise thinking to report the kidnapping? Brian would have faced life in prison so he had nothing to lose by confessing to Mike's murder and see her put away for a long time for her part in the conspiracy.
If she thought no one would believe him, it didn't take long for her to figure it out that investigators suspected her immediately after reporting the kidnapping when she was interviewed by the "bad cop" when he grilled her about Mike's murder instead of the kidnapping. You could almost hearing her saying "What have I just done"?!
And why it didn't take her long to get a message to Brian after his arrest for her kidnapping that she didn't say anything to investigators. Which really sealed her fate! It probably haunts her to no end that she ever reported her kidnapping to begin with.
@@isabellind1292 She was so used to getting away with murder (literally) she probably felt invincible. Like she just needed to say the right things and Brian would be kept away...
@@neilsun2521 Yeah, she thought she'd gotten away w/it.
She was one selfish greedy witch
She *is one. (She's still trying to get her sentence reduced.)
What is it with Talahasee Florida ? this is the second case with a husband is killed ...just finished seeing the Law professor Dan Markel murder trial with the same judge as here!
Both cases with connections to FSU🤷♂️
And Sarah Boone - the suitcase murderer. Also in Florida.
I guess some people think that a prosecutor is supposed to jump rope, dance, and strip naked while presenting the facts, and evidence! Lol!....maybe that's what it would take to get a bunch of losers to PAY ATTENTION!.
I believe they killed him for the insurance
Did they ever figure out why the wrong type of gun was in the boat?
I would imagine the gun found on the boat was mikes since it was his boat. The gun he was shot with was Brian’s that he brought
I believe this case was covered in an Investigation Discovery show.
Based on that, Denise is guilty af.
I remember watching it, I didn't expect to find a trial though.
back then.... homewreckers...
I thought that's what I heard! Lol smh
Didn't like the stigma of being a divorcee. Better to be a murderer
I believe Denise stayed close with Kathy all those years to make sure if anything came up, Kathy would tell her. Backfired on her though. I will never understand why Kathy stayed friends with Denise, tho. I guess it's one of those "you had to be there" situations.
Denise is certainly calculating enough, to keep people close like that. You'd think they'd never want to see each other after the affairs etc.
Why would Denise think Kathy would know more than her her?
Around 10:30, the prosecutor says there was no evidence of foul play at that time. I find that remarkable, simply because the body was never recovered despite extensive search efforts and the fact that the boat was found at a different location than where the personal belongings of Mike were recovered. Now sure, it's possible the boat drifted away on a current and the body drifted in a different direction, or was eaten by alligators, but these incongruencies should have been reason enough to remain suspicious.
Not only that, IIRC Mike had just taken out a huge life insurance policy which Denise claimed shortly after his disappearance; had the investigators been paying attention that ought to have raised all of the red flags, doubly so considering Winchester was in the insurance business.
I'm not a legal expert, but I would assume the life insurance policy coupled with the unsolved death would constitute probable cause for further investigation.
I think the prosecutor could have done a much better job at presenting a narrative for this case. I understand what he's trying to do by essentially presenting the narrative through the eyes of what the investigators knew or assumed, chronologically, but given how long it took for certain things to come out, the narrative keeps jumping back and forth throughout the timeline. I'm sure a better calibre of storyteller could make that work, but this guy should just have told the tale in straight chronological order, with the benefit of hindsight. Or at least start off by introducing the two couples and the affair.
As far as opening statements go, this one wasn't very effective IMO.
Denise couldn’t have anything to do with divorce when married to Mike …. but is ready for divorce from Brian even before this kidnapping. Thought Denise kept saying she doesn’t believe in divorce!
It’s all about the money and being the only parent!
Mike’s mom has so much fight in her to find the truth about her son! She’s a wonderful and loving mom ❤ God Bless Mike, mom, brother, daughter and the rest of Mike’s family & friends 🙏🏼
No volume. Advertisement have good volume.
ugh. The background noise is so bad.
All these years passed by.
The prosecutor is boring, no emotions or passion...just a monotone and difficult to hear...
It's should be what you can prove. Prosecutor didn't prove anything. Brian actually lied about seeing his fdle friend at Walmart and talking to him about it days later. His friend said neither happened.
So how do you know Brian is lying? It happened 18 years prior, I'm sure a chance encounter like that would easily be forgotten, if it did happen. And at that time he had no incentive to lie about a minor detail like that. Or what if Mike Phillips is lying?
@@tiffanynaidoo2003 tiff: I think the state wanted brian's story to be backed up. I really think he would have remembered. I remember everything I did and saw on 9/11. The day before I worked 4-12 shift and went home.
@@blabl590 True, but everyone knew 9/11 was a defining event as it was happening. Mike Phillips wouldn't have even known about a disappearance (let alone murder) at that time and wouldn't have expected Brian to be involved in it. I don't think that just because he didn't remember the Walmart meeting from 18 years ago doesn't mean it didn't happen. But, you're right that the state certainly wanted Brian's story to be backed up.
@@blabl590 I think maybe a better way to explain what I was trying to say is that for Brian it would have been a "9/11-type" of day where you remember details of everything. I don't think it would have been that way for anyone else. I don't memorialize meeting people I know out in public, just seems like a random thing. The defense had to try to discredit Brian's credibility so they used Mike Phillips for that. If Brian had not even mentioned Mike Phillips on direct examination, I don't think it would have been an issue since it had nothing to do with Denise's culpability for the murder of Mike Williams.
Her murder conviction was overturned. I agree, this is really flimsy evidence to convict someone of first degree murder on. It would be enough to convict Brian (if he weren’t granted immunity), but definitely not Denise.
Who is Denise’s baby’s father?
Yeah given the timing of it all, that girl should get a DNA test.
A lot of creepy plans went into this horror show!!
This lawyer is bad - want to hear a compelling story? It won’t come from this guy.
have fun in jail, Denise 🙂
Prosecutor is horrible, unshaven, looks hung over and talks so slow he could put you to sleep.
If it were a boating accident, a yellow sponge would be on trial instead...
I wish he would get to the facts of the case, the jury is already bored , if not alseep by now. 😲😲
whydennise wast charge while she js the master mind who lured brian to conduct her evil fantasies . denise have the man but she wants the money🤷♀️
This video should be named miscarriage of justice.
She was involved, but the case is very flimsy and the prosecutor isn’t very enthusiastic
Conspiracy to commit murder isn't flimsy at all. Are you serious?
Good call! Not..
She got life!
Did Mike not tell anyone that he was going duck hunting with brian? That makes no sense. I think Brian just showed up and ambushed mike. It makes no sense to have a hunting alibi to cover a hunting trip with mike.
I agree. You know he said I’m going hunting with my buddy. I feel like he ran into him at the store he knew he frequented down from his house when his phone was off or followed him there. I find it hard to believe Mike didn’t mention it to a soul
He probably mentioned it to his wife who was in on the plan..
Denise said Mike woke up before dawn and told her he was going duck hunting. And he would have mentioned he was going w/Brian if that was the plan, why wouldn't he? So, maybe Denise called Brian to tell him, like "OG" (in this thread) said.
She was getting desperate as she didn't want to go away w/Mike. And remember, phone records weren't kept so there wasn't a trail had she called Brian to tell him Mike was going fishing. That's the only logical explanation that Brian knew Mike's whereabouts, I would think.
Mike was a wonderful man. RIP Mike Williams.💓🌹
@@isabellind1292 Mike's mother testified that she spoke with him on Friday and he said he was going duck hunting the next day with Brian Winchester.
BORING....OMG , the poor jury. I can’t believe how monotone and totally boring the prosecutor is making this.
I think the story is pretty fascinating. His delivery doesn't make the story boring.
I find him very structured and methodical
kimber leigh this is NOT supposed to be an exiting entertainment episode of LAW AND ORDER!...a real court room in a murder case must be a somber, and very serious scenario!...if the jurors get bored, they should not be there,...and should go home and watch COLUMBO shows!...this was not a circus show like the Simpson thug trial!
I find it hard to believe that you think this is about the entertainment value. What a waste of time being murdered when your story is so boring..... did you think you were watching a soap 🙄
He's not there to entertain you, or anyone else for that matter. Go watch some Netflix show if you're just looking to be entertained.
I must agree with everyone how boring this is I mean if he’s trying to get the jury to listen that’s not the way but it is the way to put them to sleep
Isn't a movie
How could you find any of that boring?
Your gonna hear your gonna hear.....The bloody obvious presented in a most dull and boring way
He’s not in a theatrical play he’s spouting organized facts
I feel like this is a case of young boy in love with a girl his best friend gets her so he marries.... They were both unhappy and started an affair... He became so obsessed and committed the murder to have her. She moved on to another man he hated that and fought for her. She reconciled with him years later and married him. He became violent and his true colors of sex addiction became front on their marriage. She left. He kidnapped and threatened her, afraid of her leaving him because as brian says he's obsessed with her. She turned him in. In his mind if he can't have her no one can. He is a known liar and murderer. He gets 20 years for lying and turning in her to something shes not. I believe this man is crazy and his sex addiction led into obsession. She is not guilty.
You are not using FACTS in evidence.
He’s a charming snake, and nobody is questioning nothing he says
What trial were you watching?!?! Lol
Wrong. Try watching the whole trial.
Why was she so opposed to the police investigation, to not allowing the grandmother to see her granddaughter? An innocent person would not have minded finding Mike.
They have no real hard eveidence against her! It’s all hear say and on a killers confession.. seems crazy to me she lost
I agree.
I believe they did! She didn't testify even. Brian's memory was so good. Lots of ppl testified against Denise, lots new of Denise & Brian being together, guess Mike knew also. Denise spent life ins money more than Brian did.
Lots of hard evidence. Many witnesses for the prosecution. And no attempt at a defense from Denise because she has no defence.
Terrible opening so bloody slow and long winded 😩
turn ur speed up--all the way..lol
