Dude, you are so rad. My buddy loaned me his Jeep, because I didn't have a vehicle do to some untimely circumstances. And I noticed his back window zipper was really messed up. So I watched your pictorial, and it worked. Makes me feel good to do something for my buddy that did something righteous for me. Thank you
I was almost going to spend $400 on another rear window when I realized it’s just the zipper I need to worry about. Trying this this weekend. Hopefully it works! Thank you
Good info here. Also, I found that if I unlatch my soft top at the windshield header before zipping or unzipping the window, it takes a lot of tension off the fabric and makes it easier to "round the corners" with the zipper. Of course on older tops, even that doesn't always help that much. :) Oh, and I'm enjoying the diesel content and am following along to see how the engine holds up.
Nice! I could have used this video when I had my NA Miata. Instead of trying to fix my zipper, I just left it unzipped all the time and secured the back window with hooks and zip ties!
I think the service industry is missing the ball here. So many of us have zipper issues, I'm in Colorado. The home of Bestop. One would think they would have a Service Department one could go to for SERVICE. Nope, Nada, NOTHING! I truly believe many of us would pay for Zipper Service or replacement zippers. I Would!
So one zip pull on soft top and the other on the window. You mentioned both zip pulls need to be on the left before putting it back. How did you transfer the zip pull that was on window to the softtop?
@@brendacoble6156 no didn't. I had to pry open zip pull to transfer it to soft top and then tighten it just enough. Was a real pain, don't wanna do it again.
Thanks for making this video. 1 question. At the 6:50 mark you are tightening the metal zipper onto the removable window, but later in the video both metal zippers now appear in the track sewn into the main part of the jeep. What’s that all about ? Seems like you had to remove the metal part after tightening and reinstall on main body side track
It’s been a minute but now that you mention it I think I went through all of this, put the window back in the jeep and realized I had wrestled the zipper on the wrong side so I had to do it all over again. But I didn’t make you sit through 10 minutes of that in the video 🤣
I have the basic same problems. But now I noticed the metal tab of at the beginning of the zipper on the cover part is missing. Do you think if I cleaned the window zipper like you did and then the zipper on the top I could get the zipper together missing that metal piece?
Hey!! My 2017 Jeep is having the same issue. I’ve gotten it to where you were at at 2:20, but my zipper will not pop off like at all. Any suggestions on what to do without completely damaging it?? Thank you!!
There’s metal tabs at the end of the zipper line. You can remove those and it will allow the zipper to zip off of the track. No pulling necessary. Just make sure to crimp them back on after with some pliers or something similar.
At 2:25 you’re pulling the zipper completely off, and the zipper remained on the window part of the teeth. How did you transfer that zipper to the soft top part of the teeth when you’re reassembling towards the end?
I've got a 97 4 cylinder 5 speed Jeeps name is puzzled. More for my boys than me Autism Awareness vehicle plenty of stickers in magnets but no ducks it's in Omaha thing

The diesel will run FOREVER!!
Thanks for watching 😎

Wow! Good job man; thanks for taking the time. Those lower corners can be pulled in to meet the zipper to relieve stress.
Nice job! I used silicone to make my zippers work better.
Great job!! I've been fighting my rear window and your video helped me bunches! Thank you!!

I noticed that too! Did you get an answer?

Thanks man. Very helpful. I will tackle mine soon.

Why not 🤷🏻♂️
@@dieseJL I know as I was writing I was thinking, it's not going to hurt to just try it.

We’re you able to remove your zipper ? The metal tabs are different on the JK compared to the TJ

How did you transfer that zipper to the soft top part of the teeth when you’re reassembling towards the end?
When you do that you’re kind of forcing it over the teeth how it’s designed not to go but it will go, with force.
@@dieseJL thank you, master Jedi
What if the zipper is missing a tooth from the soft top side. And not the window side.
What was the product you used in the beginning? The aerosol can…
I think there is a link to it in the description, it's a dry film lubricant.
watching you clean the window on concrete really made me cringe. Did you get any scratches from that?
Thank you man It worked for me 🤜🤛
🤙🏻🤙🏻
Yes!
My zipper works but the the sticking part at the top keep unsticking..the back zipper window n the back.what can I do to fix that?
If cleaning doesn’t work you might have to replace the Velcro
Exactly my issue
How would vasaline work as lubricant
Nice license plate.
Yours has 2 zipper head?
There’s like two zippers yeah
Wait till the threads holding the half of the zipper that stay on the top start to get weak
Gun oil works best for unjaming zippers.
is it possible to smell a video, cuz I am pretty sure that I can smell the simple green form here.
I said “oh yeah” to that! haha
Yikes plastic vs concrete you guessed it
I was thinking the same thing. And then all the scrubbing on the soft window. Yikes
