A 9 year old video and it’s still the best instruction guide I’ve found. I recently got an 06’ LJ so this was very helpful. Thank you for posting this and keeping it up!
I had a '99 Wrangler with a trailess top. It was a royal pain taking the top on and off! Recently bought an '05 Rocky Mountain Edition with this same top. Excellent tutorial! I'm looking forward to taking my top down this Spring and Summer thanks to your video.
Thanks ive got a 97 it came with a completely different top I got into an accident with a drunk driver and got a 2000 of the same model and it actually came with the same top that you have this video helped so much
Makes me really miss my granddad’s 05’ Jeep TJ! That thing was a blast! He sold his truck and Jeep to buy a 15’ Jeep Jku with a hard top. Never taken the whole thing off because it’s a daily driver and worried about electronics! Not near as much fun as the old no options Jeep TJ! That Jeep had no options at all. Didn’t even have a option for a/c, but never needed it!
It was good. I just replaced the whole soft top with a brand new one on 2012 Jeep Wrangler JKU Sport Unlimited 4-Door. Although, it seemed you're gonna make us motion sick. LOL
Nice. I was just bored and watching vedios and I think you just made my life slightly easier. Didn't realize the unlimited had an extra clip thing on each side that the SWB doesn't have until I saw this... Great video
The brackets on each side of mine snapped. I can still take the top down but it is a pain to put back up. Also can no longer use the sunroof feature of the top (that’s where it’s broken). Do you know how to go about replacing that and how much something like that would be?
Very helpful. I'm buying a 2010, it'll be my first Jeep, and the top has a couple things broken - this is great bc I can see what it needs to be. Thanks!
Great video, very helpful. thank you so much... if you do alot of these, you might want a GoPro to attach to your head! You did a great job! I got my Jeep today, drove it home and could get the top up, but not the windows. This was very helpful!
Once it's all folded down how do you keep it down? Do you wrap straps around the back/middle of the top? Or, do you wrap straps around the two side arms on each side?
Question, help appreciated. We have a 1997 Jeep TJ with a soft top but it does NOT have the hardware/frame like shown in this and other videos and doesn't look like it ever had that. The soft top just fits over the rollbar. Can anyone point me to a video that shows how to install a replacement soft top when there isn't a frame (not sure if that is the right terminology)? Thanks for any and all help!
So frustrated. Mine is a 2004 and the clips have a bolt holding them closed. I guess just 2 years makes a gigantic difference in design. Yours looks super easy. It's nice today and I'm stuck😔
Thanks for the instruction - I just got my first Wrangler and it has a hard top, wondered what would be involved to put a soft top on, now I'm confident enough to buy the hardware and soft top and get it going on! Are the "rails" that the bottoms of the panels tuck into on my hard top jeep or do they need to be added on? Thanks again - great video!!
With this top my back bar doesn't line up with the top where it should be. It sags a bit so the bars don't ride where it should along the window or along the top. We did not install it. Any ideas??
Sadly, I don't own a jeep anymore. I had to let mine go in 2016. I wish i could help you or give advice but, I'm unfamiliar with what you're describing. I hope you're able to find some answers!
Hello zionroad90... This video I recorded in the lovely Gros Ventre Mountains near Jackson Wyoming. You can look it up on Google maps to get an idea. -skh975
You take a look at my other video! 😎 But yep, I posted another video on my channel called “How to put the top back up”. Just RUclips search for “skh975 top up” and you should be there! Thanks for watching!
This seems so difficult, and it takes too long. And how much harder or easier is it to put it back on, especially when your just about to leave it parked, your wasting extra time
The brackets on each side of mine snapped. I can still take the top down but it is a pain to put back up. Also can no longer use the sunroof feature of the top (that’s where it’s broken). Do you know how to go about replacing that and how much something like that would be?
I don't know at all, sadly. Yours sounds like a newer model as mine doesn't have the sunroof option you mentioned. I bet you'll find something on RUclips or google to point you in the right direction. Good luck and happy trails!
11 year old video still amazingly helpful today this is awesome!!!
That was THE BEST top down demo I've ever seen. Thank you.
Agreed.

such an old video, but absolutely the best instructional video ever! 🙌🏼
what a wonderful landscape

Good luck with it and thanks for your words!
I take delivery of my 2006 LG Tuesday...thanks so much for the helpful video!
Thanks so much! This video was extremely helpful! Happy trails!
Wait wait wait... it's "all intents, and purposes" instead of "intensive purposes"... that makes so much more sense! Good video 👍
Thanks, buying a 2006 next week, soft top of course. I lived in Lander for a year, it was great, will return one day after school!
Picking up my first jeep tomorrow night, very excited! I'm ready for jeep life
Very cool!! What year is your Jeep?? Enjoy!
@@skh975 2000. Soo its a tj. Manual, gray very nice
Thanks ive got a 97 it came with a completely different top I got into an accident with a drunk driver and got a 2000 of the same model and it actually came with the same top that you have this video helped so much
Awesome...just bought a 2008 (pick it up tomorrow) and the dealer wasn't quite sure how to do it...now I know.

Best video! Very helpful, I have a 95 YJ (first Jeep for me) a lot of thanks
Thanks for sharing. Nicely done...The jeep owners manual is very confusing to me but I was able to follow you and write down the steps.
Thank for the video, it really help me out to get my top back on.
I just bought the same exact Jeep as yours, this was really helpful, Thanks !
Hey Roger, don't forget to use my other video to help ya get the top back UP! HA!
1 handed removal. Impressive. Some of those bits are difficult to wrestle off with 2 hands!
It was good. I just replaced the whole soft top with a brand new one on 2012 Jeep Wrangler JKU Sport Unlimited 4-Door. Although, it seemed you're gonna make us motion sick. LOL
Thanks for doing this video. I just got my first Jeep and this tutorial was very helpful. Thanks again.

Nice video. Very helpful for a newb.
Thanks. Off work for the evening and me and the 🐕 are going for a ride around Nashville.
Thanks for the demo! This new Jeep owner appreciates it!
Awesome video. Thank you for uploading. I can't wait to lower my new top this spring. Great view also.
Getting ready to take mine off for first time.. great video. Thank you
Wow thanks!!!!!! You just walked me thru my first time :)
Right before the rain!

Thank you very much for posting this. I just got one, and was kinda iffy about how to take it down. Great job.
Very helpful. I'm buying a 2010, it'll be my first Jeep, and the top has a couple things broken - this is great bc I can see what it needs to be. Thanks!
Thanks buddy, this helped!
What a great place to be driving one!

thanks my man my dumb ass forgot about the back panel flip on top. everything else elementary. thanks again
Once it's all folded down how do you keep it down? Do you wrap straps around the back/middle of the top? Or, do you wrap straps around the two side arms on each side?
Hey Derek, I've never had to secure it at all to keep it down. The weight simply holds it, even at high speeds... Good luck!

Wow, I can't even think what would have been bolted down! I'm sorry to hear that! Keep tryin'....
I also have a 2004 but it doesn’t have bolts. I take it down exactly like he did
Do you have one where u put the top up?
It’s old but great video
Yes, my channel skh975 "how to put the top up" video is there at your disposal!
Thanks for this video! Best tutorial for how to put the soft top on / off I've seen. Really helped me a bunch! :-) Great job!
Great video!
Good video, where are you driving with your Jeep? Pretty scenery
Was up in Jackson Wyoming area in the Gros Ventre mountain range.
Thanks for doing this video. Now I can tackle doing this for the first time on my 06 :)
thanks for sharing enjoy your ride
This doesn't have anything to do with the video, but there is no way 2012 was 6 YEARS AGO! It's mindblowing that we are closer to 2022 than 2012.
Lol less than two years away from 2022 now.

Chris Trowbridge no your hard top is just covering them up if you have not already discovered. only thing youll need is softtop hardware
Chris Trowbridge and door surrounds
You are all very welcome! Hope it's helped! At the time my tires were 30x9.5. I've since put on 31x10.5. They look better!
With this top my back bar doesn't line up with the top where it should be. It sags a bit so the bars don't ride where it should along the window or along the top. We did not install it. Any ideas??

What are those 2 straps used for.
great video.
thanks for educating us all.
THANK YOU!!!!! for the video I bought a used 06 jeep 65th and couldn't figure the top out hahaha
I’ve got to try that with rolling the rear window up. Always wondered where I was supposed to store it.
Thanks for taking the time skh975.
So helpfu!
When on the highway does it flap around loudly at all?
Nice view at the end
Thank you for the help!
Great vid
Thank you, this helped a lot!
Excellent video thank you
much appreciation
Awesome vid thanks!
Is this good for highway driving?
I never had any problems, even at 80 mph! They are well engineered to block wind and the top always stayed folded up nice and neat!
My drip rails are such a pain
Where are you Filming this ?
I'm up in the Gros Ventre mountains just outside and to the South of Jackson, Wyoming! Thanks for watching!
Thank You!
thanks for this tutorial. i don't think i have those belt loops for the rear window though. :-/

What are those wheels model?
@@JuanDiegoArrieta They were stock with the Jeep. I never added anything special or aftermarket.
Yeah mine you almost need a flat head to get the top off .Definitely not one hand
The drip rail is totally wrong for older jeeps. Use a thin screw driver
And wd 40.
Please get a tripod for your phone. I feel sea sick, don’t get me wrong it was a great video otherwise.
Anyone know where I can find a good YJ video for this ?
Race Walton
Sure do. Just add Barbie to your search.
oh my God it's so easy to break into a soft top jeep
Yes and.......Why would you own one if that's a concern?????
Wow, ur mad
I never said anything about owning one
I'm just saying that I want a secure vehicle that isn't so easy to steal because I live in a high crime neighborhood
It's got a locking glove compartment and middle console. Don't keep valuables outside of those and you should be good.
Buy a tripod Dude! You are making me seasick.
This seems so difficult, and it takes too long. And how much harder or easier is it to put it back on, especially when your just about to leave it parked, your wasting extra time
+Induced Rhino438 Don't get a jeep.
Sounds like a jeep is not for you. This is about as easy as it gets. If it's a hassle to you, you won't enjoy it.
