I think optimus having a face works for Animated, with the fact that his face is out more often than not it puts the perspective that he’s a younger and less mature version of Prime.

The thing that gets me most about this figure is that it means that I entered the “nostalgia market” for hasbro because I’m getting a new figure of one my favorite figures growing up . . . Am I old now ?!?
Animated is the one universe where Optimus is allowed to have the faceplate off because he doesn’t look hideous. Yes, EarthSpark’s Hasselhoff chin is worse than this.
The Legacy stylization is actually working with this figure. He still fits in with other contemporary Generations figures while still being distinctly from the universe he came from, even improving on the OG design in some ways, on top of offering a fresh new experience. This is what Legacy should’ve strived to be in my opinion.
I’ve looked past being upset at the stylization but some of the engineering decisions don’t make sense his axe is meant to be held with both hands but it’s so hard to get him to hold it properly and when it does work he is stuck in one pose with it
I love how the jet pack upgrade kit actually turns into the fire truck trailer thing From The show, instead of just being straped to the truck bed, is he supposed to be Abel to fly in truck mode or something

I think animated is the best show to introduce somebody to the franchise. Whether it’s the best show altogether is another thing. But it references the past shows but you don’t need to have already scene them, and it sets up a ton of stuff for future shows
I can't agree. The first season it is neigh unwatchable, with the human villains. And the frame rate is just so bad. It gets a lot better by the second season, but as an introduction it's not the strongest.
3:06 the best past about him not having a mouth is that it makes his shattered glass version look more evil. But I agree, Optimus looks better with a mask. Which is why I still a wear mask even post-Covid
That's a combo, the two base ones are the effects from the Transart Optimus Primal, where the long last segment is one from the Lava Colors Tricranius.
This is the perfect example of why I'm not entirely against the "G1-ification" That legacy does. It's just that it either does it really well or really poorly with no middle ground. In one camp, you have Leg-Arcee, Knock Out, and Bulkhead In the other camp, you have every UT toy so far, This, Skyquake.
The problem is that sometimes they can just botch it. As for Arcee, again she's not stylized, she's literally just squished. Stretch her proportions and she looks normal.
They recently released an upgrade kit for this figure that gives the robot mode a Jetwing Upgrade, Ultra Magnus' hammer, and faceplate! The kit is a partsforming mess, but it all transforms and combines into the missing back end of Animated Prime's alt mode. Complete with water cannons, a ladder that can turn into a blaster, and add possibly a better storage space for the axe. That being on the side of the newly added back end. Seeing as Animated Prime is intended to transform into a firetruck, I think the axe storing on the side rather than on top or on the bottom works much better.
I did see that kit, and it looks really cool. I don't know that I need it, especially when it's like. More expensive than the figure it self, but if it came like that, for sure I'd have called it like the best leader around.

Yeah I got into Transformers in the early-1990s (in Asia), when they were selling re-issues of the 1987 G1 figures. My first Transfomer(s) were Pounce and Wingspan. When I got back into Transformers in 2010, I collected mostly Legends class figures, and people would ask me "Why? They're so bad! The articulation is barely existent!" to which I would reply "My first transformers were G1 toys." which would make them go "Oh... Alright then."
@@PerspectiveEnd Ah, sorry. I was reacting to the part between 7:11 and 7:30 (thereabouts). Post-2005 toys not only have better articulation, but are way more show accurate.
Just like with Legacy Animated Bee, this one also strikes the balance of the G1-unification and the Animated artstyle. As for the headsculpt, I don't mind the face. Although, it would be nice if there was a running variant with the mouthplate sculpted in (afaik, there were some prototype samples with the headsculpt having the mouthplate on. @@PerspectiveEnd it started up near the end of season 3 and it was supposably suppose to be a bigger thing in season 4 because Cybertron needed a new leader because Magnus went offline.
I just got my copy of that figure today, and as of now, I like it quite a bit! Side note, I also got a copy of Legacy United Gears as well, and a funny story I had with that thing was that I saw that it didn't have the chest on in the box that it did on the back of the box, and I was kind of disappointed about it, mainly because it was the only one in the store, but I thought it looked cool otherwise so i got it anyway, only for me to find out that it was just wrapped up with the weapon in the box for some reason! I found that whole situation funny.
I do have to agree that face masks always make characters look better. This Prime, Optimus Primal, myself. I actually like most of the animated designs but I’m waiting to get this guy until we get a version with the faceplate.
Funny how the same people told tfp fans to just accept they arent that close but when they get do much closer looking to their show figures they do complain
@@PerspectiveEnd youre saying some tfa fans dont like how much they changed the look. But at the same time when this happend to tfp fans people were telling them to not complain I do like Tfp Legacy stuff, it could been better tho tfa fans are eating good lol
wondering what you think of the old pre-Derrick J. Wyatt Concept Art for Animated (back when it was Transformers Hero) since you're not big on the show's style and the Lextodrawstuff TFA Optimus makes me think of the concept design idk
It could be nostalgia as I grew up on Animated, but I love the designs. I don’t really like this as an Animated Optimus, but I do think it looks like just a great Optimus figure. The old Voyager still clears as animated Optimus in my eyes. I will be very tempted to pick this up when it’s released in Motormaster colors
I definitely feel a lot of care was put into the Animated characters. They're not 1-to-1, but Prowl, Bee, OP, and "tfp" Bulkhead are some of the best figures in the line and all work in a chug display.
If they do a legacy animated megatron should we be able to replace his helmets and faces tho replicate his cybertronion mode and his season one head mode
What are some transformers characters you would like to voice. You can list multiple characters for each of the shows, but try to mention at least one for each show
The only one I'm confident in my ability to do is Wheeljack. I could also do a passable Shockwave. And then if you did all the reverb stuff to my voice I guess I could do Soundwave.
This is a decent version of the character, with the best accessory you could ask for without upping the price point. Seems like a 7, maybe 8/10 Optimus Prime.
This might be the first optimus toy there I don't mind the face plate not being there, of course I'd prefer if he had one but they've done a good job translating his cat-like chinstrosity into something more appealing
Glad to be at least a _little_ early this time, great video as always and I really liked the MMC hotspot video from a little bit ago, it was really clear you put a ton of effort into it and it shows in the result, I also like the black screen over the white void, I think it looks a bit more professional, but anyway how’s bowser? I’m sure he’s doing good, but I also wanted to ask what’s up with the army video in “Beast wars reissues” playlist, I mean, it’s funny don’t change it, so I guess THE PERSPECTIVE LORE *E X P A N D S*
Thank you. And yeah that video just about killed me. I made the mistake of putting that out as the Wednesday video, which meant I had like no time to do that in, so I just expended life energy to complete that. Thank you, it was there to keep it from blowing out the camera. Damn you know Bowser? Are you an old fan with a new account? He's actually going to have one of his eyes surgically removed. Random kitty disease caused it to just die in his head, so it's gotta go, but thanks for asking. Is that still there? I removed that like 5 times now? How does it keep getting in there?
@@PerspectiveEnd yeah I’ve been around for a bit, my first video of yours I watched was “paleotrix one bony boi” Maybe you’ll recognize this username?: Tony’s tranformers stopmotions. I changed it to be less connected to myself.
Sorry if you saw it just didn't mention it, but for whatever reason the inside of the cab is detailed! there's seats, along with a steering wheel + dashboard detail even if it's only a mid-transformation detail
Animated Optimus, the second ever rendition of the character I've ever owned. His face here seems fine to me, only because whenever optimus gets a mouth, it's either giving him the big chin or a literal chin mouth. Picked this guy up 5 days ago and he looks terrific next to bumblebee and prowl. I wish we could get a ratchet, we could get the whole earth crew
Honestly I'm glad Animated Prime has a face, I think the faceplate should be reserved for the older more matured Optimus. Plus Optimus Prime is ONLY a title in Animated given by Ultra Magnus, for all intents and purposes he's still Orion Pax. Plus he had a face for about 95% of his screentime. I do wish he had an optional faceplate by default like the original Voyager Class toy from the Animated toyline.
Fantastic review PerspectiveEnd!!! I was hope that the gimmick from the original Animated Optimus Prime figure of the movable mouth plate would be copied on this new Legacy United figure, but omitting it and going with the full face was a terrible decision, since I'd have preferred Animated Optimus Prime to have his mouth plate face. lol Keep on being amazing.
Yeah, I’m definitely going to get this guy soon. I’ll especially be getting that upgrade kit. However I do hope the animated figures will continue on into the line after Legacy. Not only do we still need the main Autobot team finished, but I’d love to see a Voyager Soundwave, Leader Blitzwing, Leader Lugnut, Leader Megatron (cybertronian and earth mode), and a Leader/Commander Ultra Magnus. And if the designers are allowed to implement a concept subline into generations, I think a lot of us would love for a Marauder Megatron figure; seriously we were not only robbed of TFA season 4, but we were robbed of that figure.
Yes but most shows don't sit at like four frames per second. You can tweak your frame rate for stylistic effect, but that's not what they were doing with animated.
@@PerspectiveEnd that's precisely how they were doing it sit down and watch the first episode. Better if you download the footage in after effects right click, interpret footage, main, set it to 24 frames a second.(I did) And count. There are holds that are 10 frames. The action scenes are mostly animated on 2's and 3's. but they usually just change mouths for the dialoge like in teen titans or justice league. Animation was limited on purpose. There is usually no such thing as a constant frame rate on a tv production without animating with puppets in Toonboom Harmony or Adobe Animate.(things like teen titans go, rick and morty). If you really pay attention it has better animation than transformers armada (movement wise). Energon and cybertron are CG so they don't count except for the humans (they were using automatic tweening for the 3D robots) and it looks clunky
I found it weird how in some instances of the show Optimus transformed into a 8x8 fire truck and other times he would transform into a 4 wheeled truck. The show was great but it brought back memories of the 80s cartoon in that the designs were inconsistent.
I get Hasbro wanting to make Optimus blend in more with the rest of Legacy's offerings, but i still don't like how they did it. For both Prowl and Bumblebee, while they completely changed their armor design philosophy, they still retained their proportions quite well. Optimus here lacks that snatched waist that literally almost evry version of him has, and barely even has a midriff. His boots are also so weird looking, lookong more like robotic tree stumps than anything. Honestly, i once saw a Resdit joke digibash that looked a lot better. If they had Alex Milne or even properly compensated Lextodrawstuff for their fanart i think this would've been a lot better.
I don´t know which of the Animated figures are the best, but the worst is clearly that junkion repaint into Lockdown... I only have the Prowl Jr though. Great video as usual!
The only other Animated characters I can think of who are worthy of getting the "Legacy" treatment would be Sentinel Prime, Megatron, and Shockwave. And that should be based on how kick-@$$ their designs are.
I mean it is what it is. At this point this is Voyager sized, I'm more concerned about how much smaller this is than just 5 years ago than over a decade and a half ago.

I found that whole situation funny.
between the three legacy animated figures so far, I think bee captures the feel of animated and prime with the least stylization personally
I do have to agree that face masks always make characters look better. This Prime, Optimus Primal, myself. I actually like most of the animated designs but I’m waiting to get this guy until we get a version with the faceplate.
Truly a Optimus Prime was a social distancing master. The hero we all needed in 2020.
The only thing for me that feels like he’s missing is maybe a gun like the old Voyager had
Funny how the same people told tfp fans to just accept they arent that close but when they get do much closer looking to their show figures they do complain
I'm not sure what you mean by that? Are you saying I'm guilty of that?
@@PerspectiveEnd youre saying some tfa fans dont like how much they changed the look. But at the same time when this happend to tfp fans people were telling them to not complain
I do like Tfp Legacy stuff, it could been better tho tfa fans are eating good lol
wondering what you think of the old pre-Derrick J. Wyatt Concept Art for Animated (back when it was Transformers Hero) since you're not big on the show's style and the Lextodrawstuff TFA Optimus makes me think of the concept design idk
I've never seen the concept art? Can you link it?
I'd more expect that to be an Upgrade kit.
Fun fact about the transformation, it actually shares quite a few similarities with the deluxe animated prime figures, particularly in the torso
Admittedly, it does do the chest transformation way better than either deluxe, especially with the hands
I think Legacy “Prime” Bulkhead captured the vibes of his Animated design quite well 💀
What are some transformers characters you would like to voice.
You can list multiple characters for each of the shows, but try to mention at least one for each show
The only one I'm confident in my ability to do is Wheeljack. I could also do a passable Shockwave. And then if you did all the reverb stuff to my voice I guess I could do Soundwave.
5:17 didn't this wave have animated optimus and prime thundertron as voyagers?
You would be correct, and I would be wrong.
Animated optimus looks cool and the dna design upgrade kit makes it's ten times cooler
GOD I need to get this figure soon. I love this character so much
Thank goodness I can watch this at 0.75 speed
You are not the first to ever say that. I'm glad you have the option if it helps you enjoy my videos.
What do you think of his personality in this series
It was fine for a Young Optimus. At least he wasn't violence crazed.
@@PerspectiveEnd yeah I’ve been around for a bit, my first video of yours I watched was “paleotrix one bony boi”
Maybe you’ll recognize this username?: Tony’s tranformers stopmotions.
I changed it to be less connected to myself.
Have you seen the upgrade kit that gives him the mask jetpack and magnus hammer
I have, it's very expensive, but I am considering it.
*[RED VS. BLUE REFERENCE DETECTED]*
1:07 man blackarnia is jacked
She got sick abs.
How would you have stored the battle axe
I only wish he had a faceplate gimmick like cybertron optimus prime but as it stands now im getting the upgrade kit
This is such a cool figure to me, wish they make a animated lugnut or megatron someday.
Hopefully one day.
We need you to review the entire show. Maybe if I type the series in audiobook form you will
I actually love animated Optimus prime and that’s the first transformer I’m getting that upgrade kit.
I do understand why, though at the same time that's one hell of an expensive upgrade.
I wasn’t expecting PE to mention Red Vs Blue
0:53 Perspective is a robot confirmed
3:17
Personally I give Animated a pass in this department since it’s version of Optimus is basically Orion Pax
To an extent yeah, but I still don't like looking at him.
How you describe the Animated animation is how I feel about Spiderverse and tmnt/mutant Mayhem
Yeah, hey animator here, animated used variable frame rates to achieve its looks. Like anime, or shows like invincible.
If they had Alex Milne or even properly compensated Lextodrawstuff for their fanart i think this would've been a lot better.
this is a bit unrelated but it would be amazing to see you tearing a pair of new asshoeles to movies.
PERSPECTIVE END MOVIES REVIEWS WOULD BE DIVINE
That was what I planned to do when I started this channel.
I don´t know which of the Animated figures are the best, but the worst is clearly that junkion repaint into Lockdown... I only have the Prowl Jr though.
Great video as usual!
I don't think that can possibly be the worst no. Not when Windblade exists.
@@PerspectiveEnd But she´s not from Animated, is she?
And from what I´ve seen, even if she was, Lockdown would be worse.
The only other Animated characters I can think of who are worthy of getting the "Legacy" treatment would be Sentinel Prime, Megatron, and Shockwave. And that should be based on how kick-@$$ their designs are.
RED VS BLUE MENTIONED. Best show ever, of all time. That show has gotten me through hard times.
Which has a worse artstyle animated or the movies
Probably the movies, but I don't like how hard I have to think to come to that conclusion.
What are your thoughts about this version being smaller than the original. Voyagers back then were leader size
I mean it is what it is. At this point this is Voyager sized, I'm more concerned about how much smaller this is than just 5 years ago than over a decade and a half ago.
