Ye kumaoni geet hi hai halanki mai garhwali hoon but mujhe pta hai .me bachpan se sunti aa rahi hoon besikly ye geet narayan dutt tiwari ji ke hi uper bnaya or gaya gya hai jo mulatah haldwani kumaoon k niwasi or uttrakhand k up se alag hone per congrass party k cm bhi rahe hain.geet k bol per dhyaan diziye.......almora ki nanda devi narain maidaan ko haathi meri chhaila....

Yes Mrinal. It has become a new normal in Western countries. To answer your question, Its actually sung in Choir. There is one thing in western which is called Choral Singing. Though this singing has nothing to do with God but it usually sung in Churches.
