  • The 9th largest pyramid in the world is a Bass Pro Shop located in Memphis, Tennessee.
But it didn’t start out that way. It was originally built as a stadium but was cursed by a crystal skull before it opened, failed as a venue, sat empty for awhile before finally being converted into the Bass Pro Shop we know and love today.

THAT WAS IMPRESSIVE!!! Dude i know how hard it is to monologue for that long, I've done it live! I am impressed!!!! Like I have a BA in Theatre Arts, and i can see how much effort you put into this dude. Very impressed with this. If you think you can handle doing this, i would say keep it up, because its HARD, but IMPRESSIVE and UNIQUE still! No one else is doing something quite like this in a 10 minute monologue in one take. If you can refine this so its easier for you to handle but like this still but more and just as Tight, you are golden! I like how your hands end up leading us to images, maybe do more breathing exercises before filming because you are running out of breath toward the end there but clearly this is your first time and you did try for a long time to get this right.

I didn't think I'd watch a ten minute video on the Bass Pro Shop pyramid, and yet, here I am, having finished the whole video.

Yeh, I’m the same way, going crazy over the little things, but you’re right: I think the impact to video enjoyment is minimal compared to the amount of suffering.
Maybe a limit of 3 takes of the final script MAX, then chose the best. The material and presentation is good enough that a few mistakes can be corrected with a text insert or played for laughs.
I think seeing it in one take, regardless of mistakes, is the appeal.

Duuuuuuuuude Doug I had to do a project in my last semester of college that was a similar story telling format to this video. Talking for so long without any cuts while making negligible mistakes is so impressive!! My video was 6.5 minutes long and I remember being so goddamn frustrated with how difficult it was not to stumble over my words, it took me hours to record and I eventually had to accept minor mistakes. I am seriously so impressed with your execution in this video!! The way you tell stories is so captivating! I would enjoy more long form content. Nice work, keep it up!!

Nice vid Doug! While I do enjoy the one shot take, i think I’d still appreciate it with one or two cuts for any flubs. I think the effort it takes to do all of this in one go probably isn’t worth it when you’re doing 10+ minutes straight of monologuing. That format seems more fitted for short Tom Scott type vids but I still do find the use of minimal cuts to be relaxing to listen to. Good work 👍

Liked and tried to comment on them for the mighty algorithm. Redoing takes over and over again is a pain. Done that before. One reason why I haven't made more videos. I like the idea of segments with photos in between if that makes sense for you. But do what works for you. Sounds like you have dedicated followers regardless. Wild that it was one take! Good on you for branching out. I'd say maybe slow the pacing a bit? Sometimes you were so rushed it was hard to understand you and absorb everything. When that happens in a short you can just rewatch, but that's hard with longer vids.

I think however you deliver it, the content is really what hooks me. Great job.

I think the longer format is great and I love it, but if it’s easier to do the shorter videos, we’ll, that’s why I started watching to begin with. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
