I just found this video - not even looking for Dock and Go - but as a retired Marine Engineer I watch anything with an engineering bias.😉 Thank you for giving your candid and honest appraisal and excellent functional description of the system and more importantly the shit support from ZF and Yanmar. The throttle control lever plate which is aluminium and badly corroded is just shocking (although you could probably clean it up and spray with a sealing lacquer). You are probably not interested in my opinion but ai will share it with you anyway.😉 1. Everything you said in your video was absolutely true you are getting full propellor efficiency in any azimuth. Most fixed pitch props will give you about 20% astern. 2. Boats are expensive, the price of this system, the lack of on board diagnostics (like an ODB port) does suggest it has never been properly engineered. It is essentially a parts bin system that has been ‘bolted together’ with the clear intent of repair by high level assemblies (read at a high price). 3. I am a sucker for high tech stuff - and isn’t our life better because of it (GPS/AIS/Radar/Plotters) but just because the technology is available does not mean it is always appropriate to the application. 4. The truth is the integration of this technology into the propulsion system of a yacht just decreases the reliability of the propulsion plant. The apparent advantage of full power at any azimuth is actually irrelevant - you just do not need ‘full power’ astern. Have you still got the system fitted and what has been your user and maintainer experience since making the video? I suspect - rather less than satisfactory.😉👍 Thanks for sharing - I will look at some of your other videos.😀👍⛵️
Not all us Yanmar dealers open our eyes wide ! We have and do work on these and have replaced these for the SD60 instead ! Removing all the electronics from the 4jh4 it was coupled to !
I only remember when it is introduced with the Beneteau Sense line a decade ago, full of nightmares. Very complicated electronics that is difficult and not economically viable to fix. But I have not seen a single Dock & Go boat since then, not even on new order of Oceanis line and the Sense line seemed to have been discontinued. I would still like to hear if reliability had improved since then, it would be nice to have it on 50+ ft boats since modern twin rudder boats is not very manoeuvrable motoring astern.
Yes you are right. New models have this system only with 50+. I think just because of lack of space at smaller models. The idea of the system is great but how it works it is sad story
Thanks a lot for this very interesting video. I can see that your side mounting control head is completly damaged by corrosion and I have the same problem with my dock & Go on my Oceanis 45 from 2013. Do you know if it is possible to dismantle and by somewhere a new one ? I tried do remove it just to clean and repaint but I do not have any drawing and I don't dare to do it.
Hi, thanks for the brief explanation. To be honestly, I have concerns about having too much electronic on the boat. How about having both bow truster and stern truster. Can they do the similiar job? I think it could be cost effective as well.
Yes. It will work pretty similar. Big advantage of the dock and go that you can use full motor pawer even if you go side. Thruster no reaally mych effective in strong wind. If the condition is moderate okey, will be sane convenient
Thanks for the video. Your complaint about poor support is very relatable in many products and companies. But for such an expensive and relatively new system one would think that ZF would do a much better job. How much did your system cost? Does the bow thruster must be from ZF as well?
Bow thruster just connected, any system. BTW I found a lot after this video posted. As soon as we stuck in Panama we have time to get deeply inside. It is much simpler than I thought before. Tell me which problem do you have, lets try to find the issue. Regarding the price I do not really remember. I think 25K may me? It was in 2012. almost 10 years ago...
System stopped working when out on mooring second time this has happened now 6 years old and they want 7500€ for a new handle not even sure this is the problem question can you bypass the system? It is on a Jeanneau 469 Thanks Francis in Italy at the moment
Hi. It is absolutely not possible to bypass anything in this system. Gas lever cost about 3500 usd ((( It is possible to replace saildrive to mechanical one. There is video at the channel as well. We love the system but decide to change it due to hard maintenance. Our last cost was 25K which help me with replaceing SD decission
А так да, я просто ржу с комментаторов, ни разу ни один нетив слова не сказал, при условии что я 90 процентов времени говорю по английски, а комментаторы о чистоте английского языка только русскоговорящие ))))

Great video! Made everyhing clear for me and answered all my questions on the dock&go system.. Thank you 🙏
Soon I will post video about rewiring and troubleshooting of it!

Great practical review! Thanks for your experience description.
At 8:56 you have title "Gas Leaver" in picture. I suppose you did mean "Gas Lever" ;)
yes )))))))))) sometimes mistakes could appear ;)
Hi, is there any fuse box for this system? And usually located at what location?
Yes it is 10 automatic fuzed in port cabine, close to batts. BTW there is the place of all the system power supply connectors
Good Video thanks - from your experience what spare parts specific to the Dock & Go system do you now always keep on your boat?
It is not really much to brake. Terminator (resistor) the rest is very difficult to find. No documentation and not clear troubleshooting ((
👍👍👍👍

This system broke down before installation
Лайк за видос, но от окцента надо избавиться и слова объединять в предложения. 😀
Зачем? Меня все понимают прекрасно, а я не стараюсь быть англичанином же. Пусть будет
