this doesn't work in Illustrator 2020, it maxed on 16383 px. maybe this only works in the latest version.

Thanks! Finally found a workaround the canvas size limitations in Illustrator, as I work on signs, and many times these or at least the substrate where they will be going is larger than the standard limited 227x227 in.

In adobe illustrator cc 2019 the maximum height and width is 16383 px, so i hope this work for illustrator 2020 or above and i hope try this version soon
I wish there is a way to transfer over all my artboards as well (or just convert old files to large canvases).
The only RUclips video I have found that answers the question correctly.

I kept getting the error message "dimension are out of range" when saving to PDF. Increasing the canvas size fixed it. Thank you so much for posting this video!!!!🙌

Couldn't make it work in Adobe Illustrator CS6. The values just reverted to the maximum 1636px when I tried to type higher values in.
How do i transfer object to another document? It says object is too large?

Good tutorial, but you are changing the artboard size, not the canvas.
Look again, to get a larger canvas you have to start with a larger art board

I'm trying to design a billboard with 7 m width but it doesn't allow me with illustrator. Should I scale and then the print could take care of the real size? it's all vectors and letters.
If you save as a PDF, yes you’ll be fine
