  • I've decided to branch out a little and teach myself combat in a lightly armoured and agile Viper Mk III. I'm still getting used to it as it flies nothing like the Eagle. I hope you enjoy these combat highlights from a two hour bounty hunting session.
    Here's the build for those that will inevitably ask for it: edsy.org/s/v4A...

    i love how silver makes it looks so easy to control the viper but its litterally the hardest thing probably 😭

    • @silverstyles5646

      🤣 haha! Well it's SO easy to overshoot everything the moment you boost. I had to scoop boost most of the time as you can see. Not shown in this video is all the times I straight up miscalculated and rammed a few Anacondas/Pythons (and one asteroid...) 😅

      It’s really not it’s just about controlling the momentum and keeping the thrust line in the blue other than that it depends on your up and down roll game

    • @ReddFrank
      @ReddFrank Год назад +2

      It's hard at first because the lateral thrusters are super powerful, but that quickly becomes it's strength. Not as much raw yaw as an Eagle, but with proper fa-off flight, it flies much better in my opinion. The boost multiplier of the Viper with proper pip management is insane as well.

      Cheers mate! They're pretty tricky to build because you HAVE to trade armour for top speed. To get decent hull, you end up heavy enough to not take EPT's but I still wanna boost >600m/s otherwise why even get a Viper 3? 🤣
      I've got a rails build in the wings for it as well.... it's basically this one but with rails instead of cannons lol.

    Awesome flying. I suggest switching the module reinforcement in military 3 slot with hull replacement in regular 3 slot. Modules in military slot get damaged last, which defeats purpose of module reinforcement module. You want that module reinforcement 3 to soak damage before your other module reinforcement modules.

    • @silverstyles5646

      Interesting. I was told the military ones get damaged FIRST which is why I did it! lol. I'll just shuffle 'em around after testing it out. Thanks for that.

    Nice job o7 as always! I have been doing some viper3 as well from the modules i had in the storage and have to say 2cyto, 2PA and it was decent. Only if i can do FA off as you. After you go from viper3, the next will be sidey

    • @silverstyles5646
      @silverstyles5646  Год назад

      The Viper sure is an unforgiving beast! Sidey, on the other hand is one of the most fun ships to fly in the entire game. Such a shame that everyone starts in one and then has to move away from it to progress. :(

    • @silverstyles5646
      @silverstyles5646  Год назад +1

      @@pavelpechacek3380 Yeah Sidey has a tricky weapon configuration to get right. IMO 1 x cytoscrambler is mandatory but now you only have 1 more small hardpoint so best options are:
      - A corrosive frag or multicannon (I recommend enforcer) which will make it so both hardpoints will still damage hull.
      - An adv missile rack. Great damage for a single hardpoint and destroys modules with or without penetrator munitions.
      - A short range cannon with dispersal field. Probably my personal favourite. Dispersal field is free chaff and the Sidey is SO small that you'll barely get hit but if you blow up the powerplant with the cannon, hull no longer matters.
      - You could do a railgun if you wanted and also focus the powerplant but I think the cannon does this better in a close range scenario.

      @@silverstyles5646 alright, reading this i have viper3, eagle, iEagle, with the clasic - all A, with D in fsd and life. Tried 1 cyto+2 rails on eagle - not bad at all, then i tried 1x M PA and 2 cytos on iEagle - a bit weird but now i do have the viper3 with some decent armor +2k, fast shields and and am torn - 1x cyto +3 xrail or 1x cyto + 3x cannon or 4x rail to cook it I prefer just 2 types of wpns.
      I did 5x cannon on FGS and that hit as hard as thai boxer into a banana plant on just g3 and have to say fdl with 2x beam and 2+1cannon is not worth it.

    • @silverstyles5646
      @silverstyles5646  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@ragingbaboon113 Rails would work a treat on Viper since you can get so much distance so quickly. In fact, flying close can be really difficult in the V3 since it has such a capacity to zoom which might make the cytos a little rough to use at first.
      Cannons are a GREAT close range weapon though, they're probably my favourite weapon tied with cyto and missiles.

  • @pavelpechacek3380
    @pavelpechacek3380 Год назад +1

    Can you maybe type down why you chose stripped down vs oversized on the cannon? And why the missiles? Trying to figure out my style and fornjow it is 2 cytos- short no experiment and 2 pa short oversized.
    Same as tyou said HYS is meh dmg.

    • @silverstyles5646
      @silverstyles5646  Год назад +1

      Of course. I chose stripped down because, outside of dispersal field, I'm not really interested in the other cannon experimentals AND with EPT's with drag + drive distributors, the ship is VERY weight sensitive and I DO care about getting as much speed as I could squeeze out. More important than a 3% damage increase on a single cannon.
      With the missiles, I deliberately chose NOT to have penetrator missiles so I could blow up engines and other exterior modules like hardpoints very easily (penetrator munitions will still damage drives but not other external modules). I already have the cannons for internal modules. This allowed me room to put stripped down on the missile launcher as well to offset the horrible weight increase high capacity engineering puts on it.

  • @DerekHarding
    @DerekHarding Год назад

    I believe since lightweight alloys have no weight you can heavy duty & deep plate without any weight penalty. Similarly adding lightweight does not reduce the weight.

    • @silverstyles5646
      @silverstyles5646  Год назад +1

      Correct. However, since smaller ships have a low base armour, the extra resistances that G5 lightweight provides ends up granting more effective hull than heavy duty does due to the hull decrease of lightweight being a percentage of base armour. Similarly, deep plating REDUCES effective hull on small ships with G5 lightweight for the same reason (it reduces the resistances by more than the hull increase grants).
      Try it on EDSY and you'll see.
      This is, however, entirely dependant on the base hull of the ship. Don't try it on a Vulture for example but on an Eagle, Viper, Adder, Sidewinder, etc it's true.

      It's cause, while I love the idea of HYS, I prefer to do a lot of module damage to the module I'm targeting, rather than an ok amount in an area. I love the conversion to explosive damage as well but the raw damage drop just makes it awful.

      Actually, they don't shoot at you with fixed weapons because they can't hit and not with turrets if they can't acquire the target ever. More accurate maybe: if NPCs have fixed and turreted weapons they don't trigger the turrets individually. They will trigger them with the first fixed weapon shot, but if they never get you in front, they never trigger anything.
      Actually, I prefer a God mode PVE Vulture with short range fixed Beams for the shields and a gimballed MC corrosive for conversion. In my opinion the fastest small ship killer, also against wings. But cannons builds are fun, as are mine builds🎉

    • @silverstyles5646
      @silverstyles5646  Год назад

      @@BlueSideUp Technically I was wrong, though. The first Anaconda DID actually fire, I just wasn't paying attention so my actively avoiding fire arcs is what did it. That particular Anaconda may not have had turreted weapons. The other ships definitely DID shoot me, just not for long.
      Vulture is a good ship, it's just too easy and one dimensional. XD I'd be running short range + inertial impact burst lasers on a Vulture but I already have a video where I do that and I come to the same conclusion, lol.

    • @BlueSideUp

      @silverstyles5646 you can try it out, if e.g. the usual 4 Mio. mission dangerous Corvette doesn't fire their typical fixed size 4 plasmas, the turrets also remain silent. Once you allow them to try a shot, e.g. by more distance, the turrets join in from then on. Obviously, that doesn't happen other than on purpose in the 20 seconds those ships have to live 😉
