This solo and outro are legendary
I absolutely love Pantera and Phil. However, you must do studio version. Phil was in the deepest of his drug addiction here and was just a fading shadow of the front man he truly is.

He was deepest in the mid-90’s where’d he’d slur his words and would lay against stage monitors. By 2000-2001 he wasn’t as bad. His OD was in 96 if memory serves me right, so it’s always surprised me that he essentially promoted “smoking heroin” during some of the performances of this song.
Back then, the internet wasn’t like it used to be now and we didn’t readily get the info that we do now, so gullible kids at shows may hear something like that and take him for his word.
I’m glad he’s not like that anymore, but otherwise miss the style.

Dude you are killer picking THIS version!!Damn snare drum sounds like a shotgun!!Lol I was so blessed to see them "live" 4 times and witness the magic of Pantera!!Trust me you had to be there to fully grasp what I mean!But it's beyond cool how you react to these metal videos and can really tell you're real and sincere so you have MY respect for that!!And love the fact you listen to the lyrics and FEEL the song dude!!Espeacially the Skynrd videos!!It just sucks and so sad the way Dimebag died,his brother had to watch it and Vinnie died from a broken heart I feel!!Keep rocking bud and stay cool!!👏👏

@@brianjennings5610 I've been to their gravesite twice. Once before Vinnie was there and the second while Vinnies was still fresh without a headstone. My daughter remembers both visits and is a huge Pantera fan because of it. Woulda could shoulda gone to see them more.

I unfortunately never saw them live, but wanted to! I had two chances that I missed. In Arizona’96, but was unable to go. I had just moved to the area. Was 16 and couldn’t go and when I was 21 in Miami 2001, I had just moved back from abroad and they played like a day or two after my arrival in Ft Lauderdale or West Palm, I think. I had no money, no car, knew nobody, but my Mom, and was unable to go yet again 🤯. I did see and meet Phil twice with Superjoint, which was awesome, but nowhere near the same experience. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

My second-favorite Dimebag solo! With the Solo in the sleep is my first. Great reaction dog. I would definitely check out the recorded version of this song. It has more power to it because of effects. Definitely worth listening to bro
Please, even if you don't make a video, check out the album version. It's the absolute best. The bass along with the guitar solo goes so we'll together.
It's always hit or miss with their live performances. It depends on how messed up Phil is at the time unfortunately. 😥🤘🖤
He was so messed up on pain pills and heroin during this point in his career it's so sad to see especially knowing that this would be close to the end of Pantera. But still one of the best solos ever written. It fits the flow and progression of the song perfectly and each note hits you right in the feels.

As a long time Pantera fan, the ONLY relevance of this song is the Guitar solo. When this album was made Pantera was going through a "divorce" Phil lived in Louisiana and the rest was in Dallas.

A) Phil is a hardcore heroin addict during this, so it might explain his slowed/slurred singing style (and I'm not attacking him, it was just his struggle then) and B) the lyrics are about religion.
Love this song but I honestly don't like this live video. It's hard to hear the lyrics & music, especially when it gets heavy. Not to mention, this was in the middle of Phil's drug addiction & that doesn't help the audio
Man you really shoulda just went album cut. That was abysmal sound quality even for the 90s
Phil was mega fucked up. Dimebag would drink a 5th or two before his show, but that's just what he did, and was always on. Dime is that that guitar God, that performed his best when entangled. Phil was a lil lost, but still a behemoth
Good performance but not a great recording. I would recommend checking out the studio version. There are so many subtleties to Dimebag's playing that you can't hear in this version.
