    thank you for this detailed review! I really appreciated the way you brought an objective approach to the sound quality -- this is so much more useful than just telling me "the sound value is a little better". I got to experience it myself by putting on my own headphones and listening to your video -- I wish everyone did this!

      @@ToolsElectroDIY I’m waiting for Prime Day in a couple weeks, but have the Mojo 2 in the cart atm. I forgot to ask originally, could you add in future videos,if fitting, likelihood of accidental button gestures made for the touch sensitive buttons on devices throughout the day doing various activities? I’m an electrician and things are always around my head and the current setup I use is touch sensitive (JBL Reflect Flow Pro) and I have more issues with missed/accidental buttons actions than with the old school tactile buttons. This is the only issue keeping me from ordering right now. Could you offer your thoughts on your experience with these two sets on your experience?

    I have to give this round to Shokz for me. With someone with single sided deafness, I can tell you the bass is better with Mojo2. That said, the overall volume is lower and I thought the sound quality was better for Shokz overall in my case. If I had my way I'd probably mash together the bass of Mojo and the volume and treble of the Aftershokz. I was personally hoping the Mojo2 might have been an alternative to my Shokz that break religiously and have that annoying rattle after 2 years but I think I will have to stick with them for now. Also, I have gotten used to the controls on the Shokz and like them a little better. The Shokz appear slighly lighter but fit my head differently (notice I said differently vs better). For anyone unsure, I would personally recommend just getti g both, test them yourselves and return the ones you don't like to Amazon. Not a biggie to do that really.

    Tested both for a few days. My experience is that the shokz are more natural sounding on Samsung android phone with native eq set on rock setting. The mojawa ran into problems reproducing bass in many songs. It was distorted and unlistenable. Reference is Beatles Revolver and Abbey Road. Check out for example bass on Come together using a high quality recording. The shokz handles these frequencies without distorting, so my vote based on this, and a more natural sound goes to Shokz. Plus the shokz felt just a little less bulky behind the ear to me. On a run or bike ride the difference may be less apparent with ambient noise.

    Great deep review video! I once had an Openrun Pro that worked very well. But I switched to Wissonly Hi Runner this year,because I need a headphone for swimming. The waterproof level of Openrun Pro does not meet my requirements, although they claim to be suitable for swimming. By the way, the waterproof test in the video is not representative, and only when the water depth is below 5 meters can the waterproof performance be truly tested. Of course, the sound quality of Openrun Pro is good, and the wearing comfort is also good. It is still a good headphone. I usually use the Openrun Pro at home and use the Wissonly Hi Runner for running or swimming.

      Hi Jack thanks for your feedback. It was December when I recorded this video and I didn't have access to an indoor pool, therefore the waterproof test was not extensive. Stay tuned, I have another brand new Mojawa review coming soon!

  • @starlights50
    @starlights50 Год назад +1

    I appreciate the effort that must have gone into all of the testing. The Shokz mic test is very similar to my PC recorded test :) and I can't get my Android to record from my headsets. I preferred your Mojo. ..While it was dipped into the water, your Shokz pro sounded close to their Openrun version that I own(dry). The Mojo being for swimming (similar to earplug use) has a lot more treble(?). Electronic music can make many sound systems seem sweeter than they actually are for other genres. Do you feel that the dry sound test was truly representative of either headset?

    • @ToolsElectroDIY
      @ToolsElectroDIY  Год назад

      Yes. But the sound quality also depends on your speakers/ headphone used for listening to the review :)

  • @reflex1on590
    @reflex1on590 Год назад +1

    Nice review!
    How accurate do you think the recordings are compared to what you actually hear? (In terms of quality, bass, clarity etc)
    Also during the first water container test, I noticed there was some sound leakage. Was that just because of high volume? How far can other people hear the sound during normal use at eg 50% volume?

    • @ToolsElectroDIY
      @ToolsElectroDIY  Год назад +1

      audio quality is highly subjective, it depends on what headphones you are using to listen to the video review. Yes the volume was turned up pretty high. leakage is minimum. See my recent video for its teardown review.

    I purchased the Mojawa 1 (Not the 2) for Christmas 2022 for me and a pair for my sister and law, and a Shokz for my brother. For the Mojawa, Everything overall is good. But the piece that fits on the outside of my face does not sit flat on my face. It sits at an angle and therefore looses sound. It gives full sound if I press on the piece to make it flat to my face. The little bone conduction piece sound like a speaker, because I can hold it next to my auditory canal/outer ear and hear what is playing. Does this do the same with the Mojawa 2 ??? Plus I didn't realize it was made in China. Are they monitoring us??? From the name I thought it was Japanese. I've met several people who have the Shokz and none seem to have this problem of the device sitting at an angle. Thanks!

    The Shokz Open Run have a IP67 and cost less than the Shokz Open Run Pro ($189 list) and they are slightly smaller. I've only noticed that the bass is a bit less as I have both the Open Run and Open Run Pro. I've noticed that of all the bone headsets that I've bought, Shokz has the best mic, including their Open Move ($79 list), which I gave away when I got the Open Run as they were not as comfortable, though had comparable sound and mic. I may get the Mojawa for their bluetooth connection distance shown in this video. Although they have better IP rating than Shokz Open Run plus, it is the same rating IP67 for the regular non-plus Shokz Open Run ($120 list) which are lighter and slightly more comfortable. The Mojawa seem to be more bulky and might pinch or put pressure on ears, this is my worry. The reason I switched to bone conduction was for comfort.

    I just purchased a Mojo2, partially because of the the Bluetooth test in this video. Unfortunately, my Mojo cuts out at about 15 meters. Bluetooth 5.1 and 5.2 are rated to 15 meters, so I shouldn't have expected to duplicate the ridiculous results in this video. My two sources were a brand new Lenovo lap top and a Galaxy Note 9. The results were the same for both. btw - I also have a $30 set of bone conduction headphones and its Bluetooth range was about the same as the Mojo. It would be interesting to see other comments on the Bluetooth range of their Mojo2.

      Did you get the line of sight? The test was done with nothing between the phone and mojo2.

    • @bennyboy6367
      @bennyboy6367 10 месяцев назад

      @@ToolsElectroDIY After your response I tested line of sight. From my garage I was able to walk out 60 steps before I heard the reception breaking. With my Jabra Elite earbuds I was only able to get 35 steps. The Mojo2 is definitely better, but nothing close to what you got. In the house, not line of sight, my Mojo2, Jabra, Bose headphones, and no-name $30 bone conduction headphones performed about the same. From my kitchen to the garage, or from my kitchen to the restroom they all cut out at about the same points. I'm not knocking the Mojo2, it's my preferred headset when there isn't heavy ambient noise (then I use the Bose or Jabra). My $30 headphones were my first bone conduction set. They're very loose but very comfortable, and work well. I wanted a step up so I was going to get some Shokz, but your review, and a few others, convinced me to go with Mojo2. I'm happy with them, although I may very well be happy with the Shokz - they're very popular.

    Good review. One thing to add is size of headbands. Shokz has a good sized headband that fits smaller heads. Most headsets do not.
    Also the reason they are directional is Shokz are closer to true bone conduction than most others. It’s a technology that’s been out for at least 40 years. Most open ear designs are just two small speakers instead of bone conduction.

      Hey thanks for this review, probably the best I've seen so far!. I'm really thinking about buying one pair of those mojawa, but my point of comparison is the Aeropex from shokz, which are really cool, nonetheless they last the most 1year using them daily. I would like to ask you if these can be used while being charged or they turn off automatically when you plug them to the charger? This is important to me since I use them a lot to work and to take phone conferences and it's really necessary for me, not to turn them off during the day...Thanks!
