Love you 😘 ❤️
@@queenp9549 ppl
2000 people at his funeral must have meant he was a good guy . Rest in peace sir
And interesting that he was pen pals with Robert Wadlow (the tallest man), since Wadlow passed away in 1940, when Hughes would have been about 14.
Wow really
It was probably morbid curiosity His casket was so big and heavy it took a crane to lower it into the grave
@@larryhullinger4141 OMFG!😱
And he still weighed more than all of them.
I grew up 3 miles from the cemetery. I've been several times to pay my respects. R.I.P. Robert.
How sad his life had this medical condition that cost him a sad quality of life.
Keys on a tombstone represent knowledge and entrance to heaven. 🔑
I kind of had an idea that’s what it meant, cause they always use the phrase of “the pearly gates of heaven” or “stairway to heaven”
That's good to know!
And the coins?

@@conservativehippie9736 THANK YOU @ CONSERVE🤜🤛👏👏👏🙌🤝🤝🤝🤝
Im surprised he made it to 32 years old!I remember seeing him years ago in the Guinness Book of World Records.
I had the Guinness book of records back in the 70s, and I remember it saying he was buried in "a coffin the size of a piano case."
I had that same edition in the 70's also. It sure did say that!!
That poor man! What a sad story. Stay safe out there, and rock on, Lamont!💜✌
Back in the 70's there was a man who lived in his trailer. He was too big to get out of it. They towed him around to towns and for a dollar you could go in and see him and talk to him for a couple of minutes. Southeast Texas.
That's crazy
Ain't that a bitch how degrading like he was a side show attraction
That is just plain criel😢
Rest With The Angels Robert Earl Hughes No more struggles in life, fly free, fly high
@JohnnyPervo-uj2ui Hi, just curious as to why you would write such a thing? Why would you wish someone to rest with the demons??
@JohnnyPervo-uj2ui Oh okay, great joke.👍
Thank you Lamont for remembering Robert Earl. Next time stop in Fishhook Illinois to see the tiny town's tribute to Robert Earl. My Aunt taught Robert Earl. She had interesting stories.
What stories? Anything you can share? That would be interesting 😊
Just how humble and nice he was. But the circus took advantage of him and not always paid him. That what I can remember. My Aunt is no longer living. We would hear about him once in a great while and shewould always say how kind.
Reminds me of Iz..he's an Hawaiian singer with the same problem. Hawaii shut down when he died he was in the same weight range
@@sarahbethkeith375 is he the man who sing the song some were over the rainbow
Yes he is!!
Poor guy. Bless his heart. Some people today could take a lesson in niceness and do not have the struggles that he had.
A great, sad story! A lot of people that died in that era were from medical issues that thankfully doctor's can fix now. We are fortunate to live in the present. Keep up the awesome work and be safe!!
Yes, true. But, we have whole new sets of issues to deal with today. Suicide is one among many others
Thanks For The Great 👍 Post Lamont, And All Of The Others,Too!!
Trilafon saved me ...
I can't imagine living his life. What a sad story. R.I.P Robert. 🙏🇺🇲🗽🇺🇲🙏
@Johnny Pervo rest In heLL ? Why. ?
@Johnny Pervo how rude are you
@Johnny Pervo crawl back under your rock kid.
Thank you for granting my request, Lamont. As expected, you give a more detailed story on his life than other RUclipsrs out there.
My aunt was obese. She wasn’t born a big baby either. She really didn’t start putting on weight until she was about 11 or 12 yrs old. It was sad because teenagers were so mean to her that the bus driver made my aunt sit at the steps of the bus. Punishing her and not the bullies. She never married and never had kids. So she spoiled her niece and nephews. She was a awesome aunt. I really miss her. I was actually closer to her then my own mom because certain things I couldn’t talk to my mom about but I could talk to my aunt about and my aunt never told my mom.
She sounded lovely
I visited this area a few years ago and drove through the town he lived in. People that knew him said he was the nicest guy you could ever meet.
2 RECORDS NO 1 WANTS to POSSESS. Record 4 TIME LOST @ SEA, & HEAVIEST HUMAN BEING ON PLANET EARTH.
The world of entertainment back then was shameful but at least it gave him means and a way to meet people. I pray he met some nice friendly souls on his journey
I am so very sorry that he had to live in that body. I can't imagine the Ridicule and pain that he went thru every day of his life. My heart hurts for him💔🥺 Rest in peace, Robert, you deserve happiness.
RIP big guy 🙏
He earned a good living from his size at the carnival. Plus, like Lamont said, Robert enjoyed meeting and talking to people.
Clearly a medical condition. Rest in peace Robert ❤
You told his story with such reverence 😢. Rest in peace Robert Earl 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I love how you can give a cheerful and upbeat "hello" to us all from a cemetery. Thanks for all the stories you bring to us!
I love historical stories like this. Thanks Lamont!
RIP Mr. Robert Earl Hughes
This poor man.
To bad he couldn't get known medical help back then, like today. RIP Robert 🕊
I remember reading about him many years ago in the Guinness Book of World’s records when I was in junior high school.I feel bad for him. May he rest in peace ❤🙏🏾
Keys to heaven....That's what those keys signify...He died young at age 32...Such a sad story...RIP to Robert and condolences to his family...Thanks fo the tour and wonderful narration...You're such a good story teller...Blessings...
That is very sad. I'll be 32 in June.
As you said Lamont, you would think that he ate a lot of food and you are right about health issues. I know in both sides of families it's hard to be able to eat like a lot of people. Because I have found if I try to eat like some people do that it's not very long until I can see the weight starting to come on. It's really sad that people don't understand that people who are over weight have feelings too. It's breaks my heart. Because I know the pain of being over weight and having people pick on you about it. R.I.P. Robert.
I'm so sorry to hear you have to deal with that! For different reasons,I was picked in in Jr high. It hurts😢
Soooooo VERY SAD!!!! He sounded like a really nice guy. Couldn't have been much of a life for him!!!! Rest In Eternal Peace Robert.
He sounds like he was a kind man. I hope he knew Jesus. Imagine the joy of being set free from that burden of a body, meeting his Saviour.
Thanks for another thoughtful video.
Hey Lamont thank you for the story it was so sad they never had the know how to fix him. I hope he rests in peace stay safe love from the UK x

Thank you for sharing this mans story. His reputation as Worlds Heaviest Man deserves to be remembered.
He was one of the most infamous people in the Guinness Book along with Robert Waldo. When I was a child I was able to meet the Maguire Twins(heaviest twins) at the Myrtle Beach Guinness book of records. Its now a Ripley believe it or not
So sad RIP Mr Earl!
Fly high with the Angels!😔
As you walked amoung the tombstones on your way to Robert's grave, it seems to me as if all the cemeterie's residents were listening to your tale. Made me feel like going to a cemetery and read stories to the dead to entertain them.
Sorry, no, nothing like that
@@mysteriousjzWRONG-O! OP should definitely sit in a cemetery and read out loud to the birds and squirrels.
Thanks Lamont for covering this story and for visiting Robert's grave. Looked like he kept pretty cheerful through many trials in life. May he rest in peace 🕊️
I don't believe in coincidences but I was watching Robert Earl Hughes videos on youtube last night haha! I have a few videos of him saved in my playlist on here. I was always intrigued because not only about this size but he was mobile. You should check out actual footage of him walking. His relatives said he was very happy and loved people despite the way strangers treated him when he was on exhibit. So sad he died so young. One of my favorite true stories! Thanks Lamont!!
Morbid curiosity, poor Robert.
If I’m not mistaken, I think his family donated a large sum of land for a Girl Scout camp in IL called Wildwood. It was beautiful. Sadly it’s no longer in use. A touching gift from some very nice people. Safe travels as always Lamont.
Sadly it's probably an overcrowded housing development now
Wow really
@@pinebarrenpatriot8289 Not really if u look at the current Google map of the area. Its farm fields and woodlands.

Thank you Lamont. We can always count on you to tell us wonderful stories about some of the most fascinating and amazing people 💓🙏
Another story out of Okmulgee County. 5 family members and 2 of the teenage girls friends.
There was an old bootlegger woman, Mahala Mullins, in Hancock County, TN who died about 1932. She was so big she couldn't get out of her cabin. The Sheriff got an arrest warrant to have her arrested. But since she couldn't get out of her cabin, the deputy came back without her. He told the Sheriff, "She's catchable, but no fetchable!" Lol. When she died, they had to break down a wall and pull her out on her bed (which they had to convert to a coffin), and drag her to the grave with a team of mules. I have no idea how much she weighed, but Mahala was HUGE!
Thank you for the 'behind scenes' of this mans life. Such a shame Robert lived in this manner. People are not 'freaks'. Humans can be so cruel.
Lamont thank you for an excellent job on this story. 👏 You reported his story with dignity. I love all of the subjects that you cover! Rock On LAMONT! REST IN POWER Robert Earl Hughes! 😇❤🕊🙏
Thanks sir amazing job GOD bless you n protect you always all the best 👍🏻👌🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
Surprising he did not have a stroke or heart attack sooner than he did. RIP sir.
Robert obviously had a medical problem for his weight gain. Food had nothing to do with it.
The cure for hypothyroidism was discovered before this man was born. But as his family were so poor they probably didn't have the money to pay for it. With this disease every morsel he ate would probably put on three times as much weight as someone without it. RIP young man.
You are wrong. There is no cure, to this day. Treatments and cures are two different things.
excuse my wrong choice of word. The treatment for this condition is using thyroxine. My son has to take 175 mcg everyday. I don't know if there is a genetic side to this disease but on my mothers side of the family it has occurred in the last three generations.
Robert couldn't help his condition back in those days. He sounds like a decent, loving person. May his Sweet soul rest in peace. 🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖
Here in Hawaii I've been a Paramedic and Nurse for 30 years and have had 3-4 patients over 1000 pounds. 1000 pounds here is not that big of a deal.
Thats 76.5 stones for us people in the UK 🇬🇧 😊
Wow in my old stomping grounds. Not much left of Benville. Just the church and cemetery. Used to be a well in front of the church in the road; the road had spilt around the well when I was a kid. Now it is paved over. Interesting way to get to the cemetery from Mt. Sterling. Unless you came to it through Siloam Springs State Park.
Sounds like a metabolic disease they didn't know about. Keys are left as a means to enter Heaven
Love you Lamont, stay safe 😊❤
Such a sad story, I can listening to you all day telling stories Lamont. RIP Robert Earl. Safe travels Lamont
Thanks for remembering this young man and telling his story
I believe that Robert's brother was once asked what he thought about his overweight brother. His reply was: He ain't heavy, he's my brother!
Lamont is the best storyteller of all time.
What a sad life he had. His health was bad and joining a circus which had to be humiliating ❤️❤️🙏🙏
Crikey what a tragic story .seems his weight had been his whole life .poor man 😢thanks sir for your daily journey with true life stories.
3:12 Zinker! Thank you for keeping this man's memory alive.
That breaks my heart. RIP Robert Earl you died way too young. Stay safe out there Lamont
Bless his heart..
I can't imagine the physical pain he must have felt..
There was a guy here in my town that weighed 500lbs, my dad worked with him making auto rugs and he would jump on the scales, at brake he would eat a large hoagie a family size bag of chips and a 2 liter of soda for a snack. When he died they had to cut a hole in the wall of his house and haul him to the funeral home on a rollback tow truck. Very sad these people have to live like that for whatever reason it may be either a medical reason or a severe addiction to food.
Rest in peace !!!! So sad gone to young
Why his tombstone so fresh and new looking????
What a sad story!! Thanks Lamont!!
Good history story and background on him and what cause his weight to be 1041 pound R.I.p Robert Huges
My sister's dad was 1120 pounds when he died when my mom was married to him he told her his goal weight was 1000 which is insane anyway you look at it
After seeing how bad you acted in that small town grocery store on your other channel, I lost every ounce of respect. PS, why do you use an alias?
Thank you for posting this trip.❤
Rest it peace robert, choir of angels sing thee to the rest
This is sad. At least he made a little money so his family could eat. ~Thanks Lamont~~~~Sherry
Good story but very sad, it brought tears to my eyes. Lamont keep up the good work stay safe
Dan Blocker, aka Hoss Cartwright from Bonanza, when he was born, he was a 14 pound baby. Of course he grew to be 6'4" and a little over 300 pounds until he died. He too was a big man, but never had any health issues that caused him to past away.
Just by his smile, you could tell he had a nice personality to others...
You do the best stories, I love those clouds, perfect day for me.
You're awesome Lamont. Love your outlook on life and death. 😂👍
I can't believe they put " Worlds Heaviest Man, etc.." on his tombstone. I guess its because thats what he was famous for. At least everybody liked him, an thats what matters.
Hey Lamont…..I am a loyal viewer of your videos and you are an inspiration to all who want to follow in this line of work. One request……do you remember Miss Cleo? The TV psychic with the “call me now” catchphrase? I think her life story would be an interesting video!
U need to come over to UK ❤...
Very sad to me. My paternal Grand mother was morbidly obese also.
So you do have sympathy for overweight?
Rest in Peace to Robert 🙏
I recall my father having a book of “circus freaks” and Robert Earl was featured, they perpetuated the story that he was buried in a piano case.
Thank you for taking the time to do this story.
So sad Lamont he got this big. Rest In Peace🕊️
Fascinating, I never knew any of this about him. Thanks for sharing this story. Rest in peace Robert.
Thank you for this video. Educational to the world.😊
Wow, I can’t imagine how painful it must have been to give birth to an 11lb baby. Back in the day when they didn’t have epidurals or strong enough pain meds. He certainly didn’t have a good life. I’m sure he was bullied for his weight.
My sister was over 12 pounds at birth. She’s now in her early 60s, four foot eight and 90 pounds. Birth weight really means nothing.
Loved this story. I was told stories about Earl when I was a kid growing up near there in a town called Chambersburg. If you're close to there I know there's a tiny little grave yard on a hill with some interesting stories.
That IS quite a big baby. Hearing how big he was at his biggest literally made me react with "Daaammn" a la "Friday." Not to be insensitive, of course. It was just a knee-jerk reaction. He seems to have been a pretty decent guy. RIP, Robert. 🙏
RIP Robert ❤ Love your videos Lamont
11lb is out of the ordinary. Let 11lbs come out yo couchie then call it "not out of the ordinary."
I know this is grotesque but when he starting decomposing imagine how much liquid remained for his weight
Nice story line and done is a respectful way, the man did what he could to earn money, the over weight was too much for his heart.
One patient we actually were able to weigh on the scales that are used to weigh clothes and found him to be over 1100 pounds. 1000lbs are all shut in's and to get them out, we would have to bring down the whole wall and use a flat bed to get them to the ED.
i hope he had some kind friends😢
