I walked out of a dealership on Friday because they just won't budge enough on the price to make an impact. And when I got there, they made it clear its year end and they badly want to move some inventory and pump up their year ending numbers. Yet they still wanted to play the standard distasteful car dealer games AND no significant discounting. After I left, they messaged how about if they throw in lifetime oil changes. Big whoop I told them. I don't want gimmicks. And oil changes at car dealships have always been a painful and time-consuming experience. I want real up-front hard dollars savings. Bottom line is that if you don't get what you want, you have to be prepared to walk and not get caught up in the moment and all the bullshit.
Yup, was trying to get a 23 Sierra with the Diesel, Elevation Sitting on the lot for 180+ days. Only a $3000 dealer discount and negated with $2000 worth of addendums and wouldn’t get me the best price. I knew they wanted to pull my credit to see how much back end money they could make but I refused to fill one out. Oh well!

One of the biggest problems is that consumers actually paid these markups and emboldened these dealers and manufacturers, for that matter, regarding overall ridiculous msrp prices.
It's Ridiculous! Back in March, I was going to purchase a 2023 Taco PRO and at the last minute manger at Corwin in Boulder wanted a $10k mark-up, so I told them to pound sand. Then in June Brighton Ford wanted a $5k mark up on a 2023 Ford Raptor and they wouldnt budge so told them to pound sand, finally back in July I purhcased a 2023 Taco Pro Black from Toyota Autonation at MSRP. I refuse to pay mark-up, what's sad is Ive purchased 3 cars from Toyo in Boulder.
Asking outrageous prices on inventory they received at a much lower cost just shows zero regard for their customers. It’s an ugly tactic to deploy and only hinders brand loyalty.
@@UntamedMotorsbut the thing is people are literally buying these vehicles with these massive markups… you act as if they do this for no reason. People will pay. The dodge demon 170 is supposed to be 103k but people are paying over 50k markups.

I just bought my Underground TRD Pro 4Runner from a local dealership for $1000 off MSRP. They have been selling all Pros at MSRP and other’s thousands off MSRP. During the pandemic they refused to go above MSRP on anything, and they are the biggest dealership group in Pittsburgh. The dealer where I bought my 21 SR5 for invoice in 21, is selling Pros at $3000 over MSRP.
I'm just sitting here driving my 2003 Ranger, the same one I've been driving for 13 years, and just spending the money I would be making in payments on a new truck, to keep this one running. And it doesn't even cost me more than $100 every few months to maintain. I put the rest of the money in savings. I don't know if I'll ever have interest in a new vehicle because all I've seen lately is dealer markups, critical failures on fuel and electric systems, and warranty denials. I don't think I have an interest in dealing with any of that.

I have been trying to get a raptor for my brother in law the last few days here in southern California, since he does not want to go out of state. Every dealer has 10k to 15k markup. I have gotten one down to about 3k over MSRP, but they stopped responding. Most will not even respond once you tell them how much you are willing to pay. He is also interested in a 37 package, but that is even worse. They rather keep the trucks, and maybe find a sucker to buy it. It is crazy, because the lots are full of cars here. Ford dealerships are out of their mind, trying to steal money from the consumer, and they do not care how they are perceived out here.
I feel your pain.... In So Cal too... I started looking at beginning of Dec for a 23... I initially wanted to order a 24, but they went up 1500 and everyone wanted a 5k adm to order... Everyone around me is a 5k adm / add ons... Best I could get is a 23 with a 3800 add on package of stuff, but they only had a black (I wanted Oxford White or Avalanche)... I held out till after X Mas and was able to find an Oxford White 2 hours away willing to do 2500 add ons over msrp 86,500. It was originally a special order truck and had a few things I wouldnt have normally wanted to pay additional for (tonneau cover, 400 watt pro power pack and graphics package) so I paid more for optioned stuff then I wanted, but they weren't deal breakers for me and the final deal was what I was ok with. The original dealer tag wanted 98k for it with their options and 10k adm.... I figured they got tired on floor interest and wanted to move it out. I'd still suggest looking as I've still had a few of the others still contacting, so I know they're anxious to move em at years end.

For my CTR, I made a list of every dealer I called and noted which charged markups. Same with my TRD Pro. Vowed to never do business with any markup dealer, even in the future when they drop it. Will also never recommend a dealer who ever marked up cars to anyone who asks. Don’t forget and just speak with your dollars.
There is always someone out there with disposable income. Unfortunately, people have money to make vehicles like this a status symbol and pay for that status. Arguably the more expensive it gets the more of a status symbol it becomes. The compensation to the sales person is enough to keep them happy and sell the rest of us the lower trims..margins all around.
Each dealership that have new 2023's sitting on their lots are paying for them to sit rather than sell. I truly hope all of the stealerships who took advantage of customers go under! Wouldn't fathom paying over MSRP for any new vehicle. Many car lots I've seen lately are full to the brim with new old 2023's and used vehicles. And for all who purchased vehicles and paid an ADM should be concern at their devalued purchase over the next 5 years.
So here's how you stop this madness. When you walk into a dealership and see a vehicle with a dealer markup on it you look at the salesman and say "what's this?" When the salesman explains it to you you simply say "I don't do business with dealerships that practice this. Nor will I do business with them in the future." and walk away. People unite. Do this and tell your friends to do this that are thinking about buying a vehicle. And act like they won't be your friend any longer if you find out they bought a vehicle and paid ADM for it. Even if you're not planning on buying a rig and you know of a dealer that practices this, stop in and do this. Let them know that this practice is unacceptable and won't be tolerated. It's just that simple.
I got a 100k car loan approved from my bank. Went raptor shopping and couldn’t get anything near what I wanted to pay. Some dealers wouldn’t even sell me the truck thru my bank. They would only make a deal with me if I bought thru their financial team. I am aware they get a kick back from their own finance sales. I decided to look at the used market and bought a Gen 1 raptor from Colorado to California. Spent 15K in upgrades and have a Gen 2 suspension conversion on 37” bead lock rims. Did all the maintenance and upgraded Alpine STATUS surround sound. Payments are well under $500 monthly. Best decision I ever made.
Don’t pay it. Simple. If we don’t pay the bs prices they don’t sell. Have patience. Eventually they’ll sell it for what they have in it to get it off a lot get rid of inventory or they won’t in the dealership will go upside down.
Unfortunately lots of consumers still don’t think prices are to high. Instead they believe it’s the new normal or they are happy with any price as long as the payment is low enough for them to afford it.high interest rates should also be a concern but doesn’t seem to be a deterrent neither.i wish people wouldn’t buy a new vehicle unless it’s absolutely necessary and maybe that would start driving these prices back down.my intention is not to bash anyone who is or has bought a vehicle but we the people need to put a stop to this so we can get these vehicles at a price they are worth so it’s a fair deal to us the consumer and the dealer because right now it only favors the dealer especially when they are huge markups and dock fees and dealer installed accessories etc that we don’t want to pay. No one should be ok with the current situation. I know they are exceptions but for the most part vehicle prices are 25 to 30 percent higher than they were 3 years ago. Hopefully people take what I’m saying in a positive way and just think about the whole situation we are in.
We have had warnings for years about this very thing and “we the people” never stood up to the tactics. We have rolled over time and time again. When that happens the govt is just like these dealerships.
The Ford dealer in my tiny Oregon town of around 30k people is still guilty of this too. Currently have a regular raptor with a $16k markup. Their asking price is $100k! Meanwhile their lot is completely loaded with F150s they can’t give away and yet they still have the audacity to mark up a raptor. They’re even marking up mavericks still and will add 5-10k over sticker on used examples.
Guys, call your congressman and tell them to not bail out the auto industry when they go for chapter 11. It’s time for them to pay back their wrong doings.
Its not only the dealerships ... Carlos Tavares of Stellantis has actually given the green light to these markups on Chrysler products reported in the news.
Where’s our trusty govt to step in and stop a demand for price gouging on Americans who need transportation? Oh that’s right…they get donations….my bad

Wow Cheyenne is up to 65K now. When I was stationed at F.E. Warren in 2000 I believe there were around 50K people. I haven’t watched the entire video but I believe why dealerships in any town where there is a military installation close by purposely adds and keeps the markup because they know that many in the military has more discretionary income than the civilian population typically has because most live on base and do not have a mortgage and all the expenses that come with owning a home. I’ve since retired from the AF and I see this in Fairbanks, Alaska. I refuse to pay a penny over MSRP so I contact a couple of dealers in Idaho and even with shipping the vehicle up to Alaska I still end saving between $3K-$6.5K even paying shipping. BTW, the Ford dealership when I lived in Cheyenne was Spradley Ford. Obviously you’re driving the Raptor did you ever consider the Chevy Silverado ZR2? Happy New Year from North Pole, Alaska! 🎅🏻🎄☃️🇺🇸
Yes. This is supply and demand capitalism. If people don’t buy it marked up, the price will come down. Why is this an issue? If you are asking 500K for your house (100K over market) and no one is buying it, you will lower the price. If someone buys it at asking price, that is the market working. MSRP is “suggested” retail price.
This is why I put down $2500 for a Lexus at MSRP after Ford told me $10k ADM. I spent the extra $10k on a better off road vehicle. Besides, it's a Ford, it's going to break down anyway like the rest of them. Oil leak issues, transmissions issues, software issues, Ford doesn't care.
They have markups because fools are still over paying…..That soldier was going to pay 50k over MSRP and they ended up selling to someone else for 100k over MSRP…
This is not a war between consumer and stealerships, it's a tug a war between the OEM and the Dealerships. These OEMs need the dealers to fail in mass, eliminating their lobbying power, ultimately removing the laws that mandate dealership sales in the first place. Nobody needs to buy from the dealer anymore, nor do they want too. The legacy OEMs cannot compete with likes of Tesla and the future onslaught of chinese manufacturers. Legacy sets MSRP at an average of 17% above the true cost to the dealers. That money is margin the legacy OEM's are giving up compared to the likes of Tesla and the others. They cannot compete anymore at that level. The dealers will have to move to a Service and Delivery Center model to have any chance at a business in the future. And with the way the "you do not get to repair your vehicle" movement is headed, the parts counter will be gone soon too.
I did one better. About my Ford F-250 out of state for $10,000 less. Registration was one page sign the back and I'm done. Bought my truck in Nevada and brought it over to California. I could not find a dealership that would sell lower than MSRP. I called the dealership up over the phone They gave me the word and I went there the next day as I gave them my word and I walked out with a truck.
One single dollar markup on any vehicle on the lot, I walk instantly and for good. Hope it's worth looking like a greedy pig. It'd be more worth it buying one at MSRP on the opposite side of the country and having it shipped to you.
Trust me I wanted a raptor , but those mark ups killed me , so I took a 2024 trd pro tundra instead , no mark up . But hopefully near future I’ll get a raptor in 2026

Don’t pay it. Simple. If we don’t pay the bs prices they don’t sell. Have patience. Eventually they’ll sell it for what they have in it to get it off a lot get rid of inventory or they won’t in the dealership will go upside down.
This is why we need a federal law that allows trucks to be sold without a dealership. Even at MSRP the dealer is still making a few thousand.
Too many state laws and protections for them now… that’ll be a huge uphill battle. They’ve become extremely comfortable with all their protections.
Buddy I worked as a salesman at a ford dealership and have NEVER seen a Raptor sell for MSRP let alone under MSRP.
I DONT CARE HOW MUCH IS THAT FORD MAVERICK THIS IS A RICH MANS PROBLEM IM POOR!. 😂😂😂
When that happens the govt is just like these dealerships.
was a ford dealer in Chula Vista , bought raptor's from all over the U.S. and have them marked up, last time I was there ,still had a few 2022's
Good job Mr. Untamed. The owner and General Manager should be ashamed. Why does the owner not know what is going on at his or her dealership? Walk of Shame!
Is the last name of this dealership Garff or Barf? Thanks for calling them out directly!
This is not time for shop cars. Need wait for a least 4 years. I bin trading cars every 2 years 2 cars now no way even if I want. It's not all life about cars . Life is expensive now. Fix old car and enjoy 😉. I am not paying markups anymore in my life time .
Your Raptor looks a lot nicer with those wheels and color compared to the one at that dealer. Dealer is waiting for someone to win the lottery. 😮
Thanks man. Although I’m very biased, I agree =]
Haha yep. That’s quite clear lol 😂
The dealer isn't the problem, it's the consumers willing to pay the mark ups.
Awesome information!
Happy new year from New York city
$20K plus lojack, paint protection etc over MSRP in Gilbert Az. $4995 +add ons over MSRP on regular F-150's
Some dealerships are not in the businesses of selling cars. Just displaying them. That’s why they can’t get rid of mark ups.
I'm in the market for a bronco raptor! Greiner Ford here in casper is screwing people here also , they have a $10.000 mark up on a 2023 bronco raptor going for over 😳 $105.000 on the last day of 2023 😮
118k for braptor in lakewood wa
Nobody wants these Toy Trucks at those prices.. they are rich people vehicles!!! Sad 😂
How many salesmen are these dealers cutting loose with the slow down in sales?
I doubt hardly any. Really costs the dealership nil to have a sales staff.
everyone should teach them a leson and not buy anything until june let them sweat and drop prices massively then go get what u want at propper discount
I think is car buyers need to do something about this. Like make some coalition and start to take action especially on markups this is ridiculous at this point. I’m not sure what we can do or how we can do it really but something needs to be done
You don't buy
I’m guessing they weren’t open when you shot this. They do need to be called out.
If you called them out on the markup they would say "oh we can work with you on that". Such BS
Here in Tucson, Az at Jim Click Ford the dealer markup for Raptors is $20K
And with the way the "you do not get to repair your vehicle" movement is headed, the parts counter will be gone soon too.
you know I really had enough at this point, buying BICYCLES from now on I SWEAR TO GOD!
Everyone says not to buy, but most of the comments are about what they bought.
BUY A TOYOTA! 😂😂😂
That’s great to hear man, congrats! Good
Honest dealers still exist. =]
One single dollar markup on any vehicle on the lot, I walk instantly and for good. Hope it's worth looking like a greedy pig. It'd be more worth it buying one at MSRP on the opposite side of the country and having it shipped to you.
I will never understand the Hype for a Raptor? Just an F-150 with a lift kit !! Still can’t use as a work truck
Trust me I wanted a raptor , but those mark ups killed me , so I took a 2024 trd pro tundra instead , no mark up . But hopefully near future I’ll get a raptor in 2026
Dealers in California are getting 40-60 k mark up on rhe Raptor R
Kills me they don’t come with rear wheel wells. Had to get them for my 22 lariat power boost. Come on Ford.!!
92k on a truck is almost 20% down on a half million dollar home
That's it. This is ridiculous to the point of being beyond belief. I will not buy.
Just got a 2024 F350 Lariat, $3K off and $5K over market average for my trade. Not much off on the Super Duty but really a nice price for my trade. Good deal overall.
Where I live, the salesman told me they are loaded with used vehicles and that market has slow WAY down. They're back to lowballing you on a trade.
@@jayf6525100%, the offers from 3 other dealerships iny area were terrible, the place I got my truck from was the one good one so I took it while I had the chance.
where did you buy your truck?
I wouldn't give 45000 for 3/4 ton diesel 24.
Read the sticker again. $93,800. Almost 94k not 92 what a joke!
Just let them keep it
Cheyenne is in BFE... it cost money to ship those trucks to the middle of nowhere... more so than the port towns you referenced. Let them make money... the market will dictate what they can ultimately charge... i know you served our country, but this is America... Greed is good... Watch Wallstreet and some Milton Friedman.
Congrats when did you get the raptor? Last I saw you had the Lexus
I bet that maverick has one too
Dealers like this don’t want your business. They are trying to sell to morons. And there are a lot of idiots out there.
U r also the problem paying 78k 😅😂
Let these dealers learn the hard way! Don’t buy this overpriced metal! Let it rot lot!
Cant Imagine buying an 80 thousand Truck that most will drive like a car.....???????????
Does the manufacturer allow these dealer markups?
Manufacturers have limited control over dealers. Dealers wield a great deal of clout with politicians. Remember dealers stopping Tesla from selling direct to consumers?
Lots of options.. used and other dealers. Prefer to chillax.
Shame on the buyers that put up that kind of money!! Dealer is only going to sell them what people are willing to pay.
Lots of fools who have way too much money to blow. I know this just looking at the vehicles in my work parking lot
That ship has sailed
Broke back car dealerships and markups. "I don't know how to quit u"
Nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk
Bet that maverick is marked up as well
Greed is a heck of a drug! 😆
Cuz there is always someone that stupid to pay those prices
Say swear, looking for a Tacoma, found one I liked with a 4000 mark up, pass
And some dumbasses keep overpaying
this is what you look like ? haha , finally after so many years we get to see the man behind the camera !
Haha I’ve done a few videos of me in front this last year. You’re right though, the vast majority of my videos have been from behind the camera.
good bye steelerships.
just dont buy the crap.you'll be happy you didnt buy when the prices do fall substancially.their going to have to lose money to move the crap.
10,000 videos a day on utube abt the crash….it ain’t happening
Ken Garff doesn’t care. Just like Larry H miller and Litha. Terrible companies
Screw them
