The Keychron Q2 is THE mainstream custom.

I appreciate more keyboards supporting ISO layout as a finnish person. I just built a KBD67 lite R3 ISO with yellow gats as my first custom mech. Might build one of these as a gift for my friend!
damn lemme be your friend LOL

Yes! ISO FTW!
Did I see KZ ZS10 Pro IEMs 👀!!! Looking forward to that review!
Ps. Keychron boards are great bang for buck. Great video!
Any plans on looking at the "Nuphy Air 75"? It seems like a great wireless low-profile option, competing with the very popular Logitech G915 TKL for half the price.
I love the keycaps and the font this keyboard uses. Would have probably gotten this one if I had recently purchased a Varmilo MA87 (Peking Opera) keyboard.
My next 65%, 75% and 4x13 ortho will be the next ones. As soon as i have time to make the model for the laser cutter for the plates..
I was looking at this, then capsunlocked CU80, ended up with Iris and colemak. this sentence just took me 2 mins to type.
are there any good 100% Keyboards or should I just get a kaypad?
7:00 what? A reviewer acknowledging the reality of shipping costs?!?! Ridiculous!!!
(ty for doing so tho, so many ignore this very relevant cost)
Great, Ali. I loved that they made it 65%, can't wait to get one and do some A/B with my recent build KBD67 Lite R3! 🙌
It's kinda insane to think that during the production of this video, the Q2 which is an absolute banger for the price has already been topped by the much awaited zoom65. Makes me excited for further manufacturers entering into the commercial space making the hobby much more mainstream which will obviously do good for the community
🤯zoom65 is insane🤯
I think the mod005 is better than the q2. Zoom65 is an absolute steal
as someone who prefers the look of the Q2 and would prefer not have to build the entire kb, I opted for the Q2. I also am not a fan of the thinner pcb of the zoom65.
@@captaingary5650 the advantage of the Akko is availability and cheap shipping. Keychron Q2 was $30 shipping, Mod007 I got had $8 shipping. Heck, even my KBD67 Lite was $128 with shipping. Akko stuff is a good deal.
Too bad we will have to wait for a while to have the Zoom65 in stock. Buying through raffle is kinda rough
Recently spent 3 hours lubing, bandage modding and foam modding my new Keychron K6 and it sounds glorious. Really not a fan of them stock Keychron Q2 keycaps, the K6's are much nicer imo
aesthetically maybe. but the material used for the q2 keycaps is pbt and will basically never shine in its lifetime vs the abs on the k6 which gets oily and shiny after a few months. so unless you really like shiny keycaps, q2 is the way to go
@@mystichavin5330 PBT does shine, but it takes much longer - granted. Still not enough to convince me this is a buy for me I'm afraid. Each to their own 🤷♂
IMO the Keychron Q2 & Q1 v2 is the easiest to recommend for beginners since they are great out of the box (FYI, avoid Q1 v1 because of keycap clearance and sound/ping issues). I went with the GMMK Pro as I prefer its aesthetics and the price was also significantly lower since Keychron don't sell locally in my country. Modded the GMMK Pro to my liking, e.g. PC plate with flex cuts, D65 gaskets, PE foam mod, Durock v2 stabs, ...
The Keychron q2 is at the Moment arount 50€ Less expansive in comparison to the thr gmmk pro in my country
Just to mention, while Keychron is good value, there have been complaints on their quality control. So, investigate and do some research befre buying...
I think honourable mention is due to the Akko Mod 005 (65%) and the 007 (75%). Excellent aluminum body, includes metal and FR4 plate and excellent build quality. The Mod 005 is $129 and shipping is way less than from Keychron.
The Wooting 60HE is my next keyboard.
Dang daddy that intro funk got me goin whew
This may come across weird but thank you for continuing to be the face of this channel.
Alotta my favorite ppl are adding questionable talent or leaving the tech space altogether. Thanks for your insights and awesome work!!
I swear your videos are an insta watch as soon as i see them on my feed Ali.
If Corsair made a tkl with low profile switches (and wasn't so f'in expensive), I would have bought it.
If Keychron had their tkl with low profile switches in stock, I would have bought it.
Since I find the logitech tkl overpriced, I didn't buy it.
I now bought a random tkl Kaliah with red low profile.
Prices are ridiculous.
Keychron K1 SE was in stock a few days ago, TKL with low profile optical switches.
The q2 is indeed an awesome board. Just prefer the form of the q1 more :) Good content :)
Please test latency of wireless (bluetooth) keyboards just like you do with mice. As they are probably unusable for gaming.
I like what Keychron did with the Q2 but I still prefer the Tofu over Q2. The customization is basically endless. You can play around with different cases, plate, and different mods out there (o-ring mod especially).
For that price... yikes, i'd rather spend half on a keyboard of the same quality, like the Royal Kludge, and use some more money to customize it with better switches and mods.
I thought about buying this, but ended up going with the Parallel Portal instead. May pick one up eventually.
Man, if only I could live without dedicated function keys. 😑 This keyboard looks sick.
Function Keys master race.
The Q1 sounds like it might be the board for you. They recently revamped it with the release of the v2 for the knob so a lot of the issues the board had with case ping on release are solved. It sounds pretty good stock. Am running one rn. Highly recommend if it restocks
Keychron is also going to release a TKL within the year if 75% form factor is too small for you. Should be pretty dope. They've been great at listening to feedback about their boards and making improvements.
@@DeprivedJuice will look into the Q1. Thanks. Takes a while for Keychron products to get to my country. Right now, I'm still using the K1 v4, but I'll be keeping an ear on the ground for whatever they have in store this year for sure for when I get the time and money to finally build my own. 🤞🏽
I just bought the GMMK pro 75% you should take a look at that one as well.
I’m presently running the original 75% Q1 and definitely like it. Brass plate + box jade switches + SA profile caps mean it is LOUD.

I just bought the GMMK Pro 75% because I want the dedicated function keys. Would like to hear your thoughts on it.
I have a modded gmmk pro (removed all screws/stand offs, swaped thicker gaskets, fr4 plate, soon stupid fish foam with aquakings v2 50gr, durock v2 holee modded and lubed with krytox and).
I think the new q2 is like 75% of my modded gmmk pro, but the stock gmmk pro is worse than the q2. It is also more expensive, though I like the look and rgb of the gmmk pro more. And you also have function Keys for certain games and programs.
The gmmk pro is really nice, but more expensive and needs more modded to sound and feel good unlike the q2.
@@Hyper1555 Nice bro what about the stabilizers do need to get different ones?
@@PhilippinesLife101 well you need to delube and relube the goats, so yes you need new ones. They are better lubed now though, but I think not good enough.
modded GMMK pro is great but be prepared to: struggle with over tightened factory screws, completely replace and mod new stabs, possibly file/sand the switch plate, add gaskets. It’s great in final form, but takes some work and frustration to get there.
Review the ViewSonic 144hz monitor
I will never understand why they always put the encoder on the right side... I mean thats where your mouse hand is, if your left hand is always already in the keyboard put it on that side PLEASEEEE.
Tenkeyless is the smallest i would buy
I would have gotten the q2 but glorious was already available with what I needed
I'm have been using a K8 (80%). Works great. Generally Keychron kb is a recommend for those who wants a mech kb but not going through the hassle of customizing/ assembling one.
Really love the height of the 65% layout but it's super hard for me to do without the function row these days. Need more boards with macro pads to the left.
Just use a 75% if you want function keys
@@jimmyf7721 using a few 75% boards now for that reason, still would like something a little shorter 🤔
As someone who never uses it, I've remapped my Caps Lock to the Function key and it's been a total game-changer -- it allows me to have a second function layer over the numerics to act as my function row
I don't miss the Caps Lock at all now, and I find it so much more comfortable that even on keyboards with function rows, I find myself still remapping CapsLock
They have a q1 that has the f-row.

Does it have printscreen button?
Great review. I patiently awaiting the K8 Pro. This is an interesting one I may pick it up as well.
“Weird expensive part of the internet” - like GPUs?
I made the mistake of buying a Keychron K7. What I received was NOT wireless (no dongle included) and, when connected by USB cable, many keys did not work. Keychron ignored all my requests for an RMA and a refund.
Before buying anything from Keychron, think! Do you want to give your money to a company that treats its customers this way?
Just going to flag that the sound comparisons here are not exactly apples to apples. The profile of the keycaps on a board have a lot to do with the sound profile of any given keyboard. Comparing Cherry Profile to, what seems to be SA or MT3, is not exactly fair. SA/MT3 are much more high profile, which does cause a difference overall.
Not intending to impugn the honesty of this review, at all, just worth keeping in mind.
Keychron has been dropping heat. I got the Q1 (modded so it sounds alot better) I may end up ordering a Q2 at some point when I get bored of my KBD67 Lite.
I'm just not sold. Has a pingy sound even with the ink blacks from what I hear on this video. I went with the Keydous NJ68 and used that $50 I saved on Drop MT3's and extra foam.
Hai guys I considering buying a brass plate for Keychron Q2. How many different weight (gram) Stock plates vs brass plates (instead of all other components all same)?
I get why there are Keyboards without the numblock. But why would sb pay 160$ for a keyboard without function keys and who in his right mind would pay any money for a keyboard without home and del ?!???
Best keyboard in the universe is Varmilo VA87 with Sakura EC switches. Everything else places in comparison
my wrists hurt just looking at that keyboard height and angle! Would love a keyboard like this with low profile switches and without the wedge...
Would like to know if different stabilizers will have any tolerance issues. I really do like this board!!
why dont manufacturs realize when your buying small keyboards, you want it to be small! Not some metal protruding from all size
call me when you find a costum keyboard case that supports æøå :/ dont remember what its called iso ansi or whatever
STOP MAKING ME WANT TO SWITCH TO 65%!!!
I'M PERFECTLY HAPPY WITH TKL!!! UGHHHH
Don’t know anything about keyboards but I assume this would also be very good for gaming?😅
I want an all black mechanical keyboard probably 65% but dont want to break the bank, any suggestions?
that flex looks about on par with my plastic membrane keyboard, except it's intentional.
hm, the g303 shroud in the backgroun and not the starlight... interesting. Also new in ears? Interesting too
uncomfortable keyboard especially backspace key - this is reality;)
Isn't the k12 60% their smallest keyboard? Is the quality lower then here?
your Q2 sounds awful like proper god awful, i built mine from barebones and it sounds so good compared
I like the sound of your tofu better, not sure if I find the metallic sound of q2 very pleasing
most of keychron keyboards are wierless, do you think they will come out with a wierless Q2?
no point in comparing this to your personal board, probably better off reviewing the board by itself
The keycap profile is kinda meh, but other than that, it looks really good package.
The quality of this channel >>>>>
model name of your shotgun mic please ?
sennheiser MKE 600?
awesome board, even the stock form when modded goes a long way! Really enjoyed my Q2 experience
I hate this, but only because it wasn't a thing when I bought my Keychron K2 v2.
Is it hotswappable
Oof 160, thats more expensive than a custom tofu build.
Both keyboards sound awful 😢 also they are impossible to use without palm rest.
Wish they did an ISO full kit on this.
can i still use function keys by pressing windows key and number keys like on a laptop?
No, won't be my next one, not any of these sink-down keyboards, so hard to clean and the look is so outdated
Therapist: So what weird things tingle your nuts?
Me: 3:45
does the pre built that comes from kbdfans have the foam pre installed?
I wasn't a fan of the stock caps so I replaced them but for the price the keyboard is great and the sound isn't bad. It allows for further modifications and stuff but outta dah box, this is a great keep.
please do a review which is the best membrane keyboard in 2022.
Hey~ is that a pair ZS10 Pro @2:07? How do you like them?
Not me watching this after just ordering the Ducky one 3
Please do a review on the KZ S10 Pros I see you have them on your desks on one of the shots !
Was gonna immediately buy it since I have a 1.5 year old k2 that's survived water damage and I love the look and sound of the board with reds, then I realized they don't have reds in black and they're completely out of knob boards, plus the k2 has an great bluetooth connection but the q2 doesn't have Bluetooth and that's a must for me personally.
Been looking into the K6 alu after watching this.. what you think?
Q2 looks to be a $300ish keyboard (can't seem to find it online in Aus? so going by Q1 pricing)
Personally hate the blue-ish colours (or the other options too) on the Q2
Does the double gasket design really make all the difference, worth the cost difference?
Have also been looking at other $150ish keyboards such as the HyperX Origins 65, Coolermaster SK622 (not sold on the slim design) or the CM CK721, along with the DuckyOne 2 SF (65%) - which from memory you gave the 60% version of the Ducky a good review.
Also looking at the Asus Falchion ... but not willing to part with $300 if it ain't bloody fantastic, looks great tho ... but I'd rather the Q2 and byo key caps
Have seen that the Razer BlackWidow V3 mini, is good.. just too expensive for what it is.
Kinda prefer that more compact design of the K6 and the Falchion, that still retain the arrow keys, and the Q2 key caps leave something to be desired for me personally.
Have a corsair k70 with browns .... it ain't bad, its just 7 years old and I know there's better, and want something compact that still retains the arrow keys.
*And just don't have the time/effort/cbf to build my own keyboard.
I got it today but disappointed keycap poor quality....
The price is just plain daylight robbery.
Just wondering can you make a buying guide for Aussies now
I want a 100% with this quality :(
i saw a kz IEMS can you do a review of them plz
Being subscribed to you is becoming expensive- lol
Is there any chance you would be reviewing the Razer Basilisk v3, as I think it's a really good mouse with the features but I'm still hesitant to buy one.
Or if anyone does own it, maybe they can give me a quick pros and cons/comparison to a different product in regards to it's performance.
Thank you very much for the great content!
Does Optimum Tech have a discord or group somewhere? I'm planning on getting a 40 series GPU if I can find one when they come out and would like to ask others for their thoughts/advice when I do.
What i want is a Keyboard without Num-Block, but with Play/Pause-Key, Mute-Key and a Volumeknob...Buildquality should be like OTs Tofu.
Currently i use the older K70 Lux. It's also easy to clean, since the Switches are not edged.
i'd go with mw65 lite
80$ (tax+shipping included)
gasket mount
clear matt acrylic case
pc plate (for deep sound)
poron case foam
poron pcb foam
67keys+volume changer
compatible with VIA
it's like kbd67 lite but generally cheaper and better
What's the moral of this story? More lube is always better 😉
Hello. Im planning on building the same color keyboard as your tofu. May i ask what specific color/colorway is your keycaps anf keyboard? Is this different from your first tofu build?
Ali, do you have any tips/tutorials, or links to resources on how to clean a non-hotswappable mechanical keyboard? My Corsair Strafe RGB is having some issues, and I’d like to disassemble the switches and do a deep clean if possible.
so hey uh- wanna give that away to a RANDOM viewer-
I would love it. It's so sad that there is not ITA layoult :(
Remember when Ali disliked a product so much he said "I will NOT leave a link down below, thanks for watching"... just something I think about from time to time
how many Q2's reviews will we get in January?
I really with someone would make these lovely keyboards in proper wrist friendly low profile configurations. Most of the low profile designs out there are pretty compromised and/or ugly. These massively tall keyboards need a wrist rest (and even higher seating, strictly) and I’m just not into that…
Ok, i have a big question for u, do u know a hot swappable rgb keyboard with the f-keys, none of the stuff on the right that can be modified with ICUE?
Regarding stock stabilizers, I have yet to see any keeb under the $200 price range that come with great sounding stabs out of the box. So its understandable that the Q1's are not 100% satisfactory for some. Hell, my plate-mounted modded durock stabs sound way better than that.
Really looking for a 65% mechanical keyboard with fn+"up, down, left, right" mapped to "pgup, pgdn, home, end", wonder if there is any.
