Why can I only breathe through one nostril?

- So many of our patients come to us because they can breathe great through one side of the nose but the other side is blocked up. There are many reasons:
1) Deviated Septum
2) Septal Deviation further back in your nose
3) Nasal Polyps
4) Turbinate Structures that are not the same size
5) Septal Swell Bodies
6) Nasal Valve Collapse

One day I can only breathe through my right nostril. The next day, only the left nostril. It changes. It's been this way for as long as I can remember
Same here, although mine changes throughout the day but same thing basically, let me know if you find something
@@Dragons18 I found out that it's normal and it happens to a lot of people
@@JustTheTip556 Rad, i was just wondering if there was a way to improve it or git rid of it lol, i get a lot of complaints for it cause its loud when i breath
@@Dragons18 lol no worries, I understand. What I do, which seems to help, is blow my nose as much as can. If I feel even a little bit of snot I try to avoid snorting it back up and blow it out instead. Cause yeah it can be noisy if the only nostril that works is stuffed up lol. I blow my nose pretty hard in the shower too which seems to clear out both nostrils pretty good. Just don't blow an ear drum out! Lol
@@JustTheTip556 alrighty then thank you for the tips and advice! Yeah i always blow out my ear drums when i blow my nose LOL. Thanks again man 🤘
By the time the video started, my right nostril was blocked. By the end of the video, it switched. Left nostril was blocked
Normal.
@@KrisVic91I feel uncomfortable about this and It’s not normal for me
@@PlayerOne.- there's videoes about it on youtube. One nostril is always stronger than the other, it's how our airflow system works to detect smell.
Now it is different if one is constantly blocked.
nasal cycle, its only normal if you don't notice it.
Turn off the music

Thank you for the video definitely need to take myself to a doctor been fighting with my left nostril just completely no Air now it's causing headaches so this has definitely encouraged me to go in I never considered it could be a deviated septum
So what ended up happening? What did the doctor say?
!?
Hey,are u okay now ?
recommend lowering the music about 35%, my friend.

Is it normal for the nostril to become completely blocked with zero air flow even when air is forced? Almost like its swollen shut, but no phlegm, discharge, or other debris? Is it normal for this swollen condition to switch sides completely over time so then the other nostril is completely swollen shut, taking turns? And its not the nostril closer to ground because I'm sitting up in a recliner with neither side leaning down? It actually feels like my cheek and eye is swollen on the side it occurs .
So why is it normal for my face to play swollen nostril see-saw?
🙋🏽♀️ Please turn the music up louder I can’t hear it 🧏🏽♀️
It mainly happens before bed because increased blood flow to the nostril. It allows you to smell and taste better as one nostril can focus on it all. It also helps by allowing less containments into your nose and gives each nostril a break. It's a good and normal thing. Think about it. Have you ever blew out air with both nostrils at the same time? Rare.
I have a deviated septum for sure.
The side where I’m sleeping on is the side that gets blocked I can even hear the liquid going to that side , I feel like getting a drill sometimes and drilling both my nostrils 😭
Hey people. I've had this too but I figured it out. It happens because sometimes I sleep to my side. When I sleep on my right side, my left nostril gets clogged. When I sleep on my left side, my right nostril gets clogged. But if I manage to sleep on my back at an incline then I breathe through both nostrils unclogged. Staying hydrated helps too. And trying to keep the room you are in for a long period of time with a bit of moist air. Rooms with dry air tend to swell up the nostrils.
This happens to me and it’s hard to smell I’m not sure if anyone else experiences the same thing
I sleep in class bro and this is the worst because I breathe so fucking loud it's embarrassing
Mines way worse whenever i lay down, whyyy. My nose is straight but i cant see further obvs
Mine does this but it shifts from side to side randomly
Way it's supposes to be.
I get all that but mine switches blockage from one nostril to the other one example: when the left Is blocked I can only breath through my right and give versa I can never breath through both at one time why is that?
have you found any solution to it? I am also suffering and I live in a tropical coutnry like INDIA
Same@@atishhomechowdhury757
Why can't i breathe properly on both nostrils tho?
I mainly breathe from my left side and barely my right. I broke my nose as a kid
I used to be able to breathe through both until about I was 20 and then I started to only breath through one and every 2-4 hours it switched and ive been trying to figure out what was wrong with me and it turns out about 70% of adults deal with this and its supposedly, but I sure miss breathing through both
@@myvocalshreya9095 only yoga breathing techniques will cure...believe me, I am doing this and getting better
Whag do you meam deal with this.
That's the way it's supposed to be.
You don't fully breathe through both ever.
It helps us smell things.
@@KrisVic91stop spreading lies, it’s not normal, we should breath with both nostrils
When my left is open, right is closed and i can observe that when my left is opening the right nostril is automatically getting closed 😂😂i gets complaint s of noise of my breathing
The only time this happends is when I lay down when I stand it’s clear
Omg me too
At least I ain't the only one. Guys I Know this sucks but at least we can breathe right
Or left 😂
Can this effect your hearing as well?
I need to know as well
i dont think so
It will if you ignore surgery for 5 years like me, the answer os yes, i live with right ear fullness everyday of my life, not only that but if i breath hard i hear the entire thing in my ear, like water going through a pipe kind of sound.
I can barely breathe through both nostrils for months. So should I stop my fetish of plucking out nose hairs and eyebrows?!
This would be a great video, but the music through the WHOLE video makes it hard to hear and maintain focus on it.
The background song is distracting
I m going through Anxiety in which from much breathing problem its like i can't breathe anymore i m going to die now ,and its been 2 or 3 weeks I just can breathe from one nostril not from the another like in the another no air * and it keeps switches sometime idk what to do ?😭😭To much horrible and scary
Same thing happening to me... Did you figure out the solution ?
@RilavShah leave it and ignore this just u whn u think u feel like u can't breathe but actually u are breathing so busy urself in activities don't think about tht
I tried... And it helps but only during that time when I'm busy at work... Once I'm free, I have severe nose blocks. It's been 2 months now... Really can't figure out what's the issue.
@RilavShah Yea it's also happens with me but now it like I don't care ! And whn I go to a ent doctor he said me tht u are okay ur nose is completely fine ,whn u are having nose blocks he gave me a spray whnever u feel like ur nose is blocked use this so it's nothing
@RilavShah Ik how it feels but it's nothing we just feel like we can't breathe this or tht... and now I m used to this thing ....
I feel if I started breathing through both nostrils I would think it’s abnormal
But is it dangerous? Or something that I should worry about? Cause it's stressing me out lmao and it been like this since forever
Same
same, I never took it serious until now, my right has been blocked since the very beginning
I think it can cause asymmetry
Yes, deviated septum can cause sleep apnea, the kind of sleep that makes you groggy even after sleeping for long hours.
Thank you bro

One nostril is like swollen on one side , can never breath well 😓
Go check with your doctor
Carnivore diet fixed mine
Wanted to watch this video, but the damn intro music playing through the ENTIRE video was too much.
OK rid the music
i can bearly hear you over the royalty free music. Please stop
You only breathe through one nostril dominantly, then it switches.
It's helps us smell things.
It's blooming normal.
patient"ses" lol
I can breath out in both nostrils but if I block up my right nostrils and breath in my whole left side sucks in? Doesn’t do it on the right side that’s fine, doctor didn’t even look just gave me antihistamine spray 😂
Why the hell have annoying and rubbish music while teaching good stuff like this?
Just breathe through your mouth, simple as that
I think the video should mention about the normal condition of Nasal Cycle, not to be confuse with conditions that you mentioned which is abnormal for only one side problem..🥲
