thanks everybody for the love!!! I have a new EP, Refried Mac, coming out October 29th and then a full length album after that. Refried Mac is available for pre-order on iTunes now. Check it!!!
It is crazy this song doesn't have more views and likes. It is the best song ever from Res and really pushed the envelope on black girl rockers. She was ahead of her time for sure. Still one of my favorite songs from any artist. I loved that I got to see Res in a concert in Atlanta with a bunch of other artists back in the days as she was great.
I miss this from 10 years ago...I remember how much MTV 2 played this in early 2002...that was such a wonderful time of my life...this song is tied up in that memory.
22 years later later, and it still reminds me of the times before. Res is a fantastic artist, and her message should have been prescient for the times. Hindsight is always 20/20
Man I remember a decade ago I was a hostess at a sports bar and this was part of MARS music video package. I knew it was almost time to get off when I saw her video 3xs. When I hear this song now I think of how far I've come from being a hostess to doctor! good ish so talented I know she dropped an album this year...
Saw this video on vh1 and was hooked. loved her whole album. I loved her songwriting and rock influences. love black women who can rock, not enough out there.
I was going on 14yrs old when this came out it was 3am, I was watching MTv and music videos were all I would watch back then and this came on and gave me and still gives me the feeling of tranquility ive never known❤
This song is amazing, and Res is the perfect artist to convey such an important message. Res was signed by Santigold when Santi was working as an A&R rep for Epic Records, prior to starting her career as a recording artist. This song was co-written by Santigold (Santi White). I think this song was written about the horrific state of the music industry, especially in regards to the discouraging landscape the artists are facing in today's depressing, corporate music climate. Santigold is such a self-professed admirer of 80's music, specifically the punk/new-wave genre & the statements made by those bands during that time, usually relating to an anti-establishment, anarchist viewpoint. Lyrics in this song such as: "So, so long to them thieves who came and took all the things to say . . .", obviously conveys the frustration & envy of today's artists, when they look back at the creative leeway songwriters were allowed 20, 30, or 40+ years ago. This song was perfectly executed, from it's creative inception to it's recording, by artists that truly care and are genuinely concerned about the future of music & art. I look forward to both Res & Santigold continuing their artistic integrity in 2014, with new releases from both artists. There ARE people listening & paying attention . . . & these 2 ladies ROCK !!!
+Miles Brighten Thank you for this info... I never knew the connection, but I always compared the two when I talked about Santigold. Such a perfect amalgamation of styles to create music WAY ahead of its time.
Im still listening to this song and it never gets old. I’ve been addicted to it since I first heard it in 2003 at the place I used to work at. Much ❤ to you Res
In all these years I have never figured out why this song is a brain worm which keeps eating at me. Some kind of secret sauce Res put in this track to keep taking me back year after year. Timeless song.
I remember listening to this song in the early 2000s on VH1/MTV at night when i was barely a teen. It'd be YEARS before i found it again. Felt such good vibes from this song even as a kid. Truly an underrated artist.
I uesd to bump this in my Buick in da early 2000. My homeboys used to clown me. "Man what are listening too!?" They would get check I didn't play when it came to Res. Fast forward til this day. I don't talk to any of them no more. They could be dead or jail. They were in the streets I wasn't.
She's totally breathtaking.I would love if my future wife looked like her, purely aesthetic. A boy can dream :) ps. loved her and this song since it came out my senior year, a true hidden jem - memories.
The first time I heard this song was back when Time Warner Cable had the on-demand video channel deep in their channel listings. Great song. Great CD. Res should have been huge!
Wow crazy story I remember hearing this song 20 years ago when I was like 11 in 2002, yep a kid lol. At first I honestly thought she was British because back in the day I felt like american black folks only liked hip hop and R&B because I grew up in a hood environment and you know stereotypes, although I remember how unique this song was, but I forgot the name of the artist and song. Now rewind to 10 years later in 2012, I hear this again in Buffalo Wild Wings and I was like Wow I haven't heard this in a while, but I still didn't know the name of the song. But within the last few years I kept looking at top 100 songs of the years 2001 and up vids, but some how this song did not appear. Then finally a few months back this year in 2022, I went on an app and hymmed the chorus lol, then I was led to this song. To my surprise she was not british, but very talented nonetheless lol. She is very underrated too bad her career didn't get bigger and from what I've heard the label didn't know how to market her well, but I'm glad I was able to find this gym of a song.
She is gorgeous and sexy, her music and style is refreshing for a black female artists. I think she would have fared much better today by releasing on social media but you can't change time. I still love her debut album.
Love Res, great song !!! Big Santigold fan too, she co-wrote this song. I'm sure Santi & Res are cool, seems like they'd hit it off. Looking forward to new music from both in 2014 !!!
I was reminded of this song a few weeks ago and it's been on repeat ever since! This song is such a vibe, brings back great memories of me as a kid dancing and singing along! Ahhhhhhh it's a perfect tune 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wow. Such a colorful, adjective-laced, extremely vivid & truly profound comment. I must confess, that coming from such a remarkably distinctive, creative, unique, and just simply brilliant RUclips handle like "98bigbutt" . . . I am Jack's complete lack of surprise. Seriously, are you a genius?
I use to play this song so much a few years ago. I loved the video. I thought that she was really pretty and I loved that she was a black rocker chick. Thank you for putting this video up this will be my new work out song now :-)
I remember when this song came out my mom bought me her cd. I had never heard of her or any of her other songs but I loved this song so much i begged her to buy it for me. I still have it all these years later and its become one of my favorite albums! Still love this song too!
Wow, this song is so BEAUTIFUL and POWERFUL. I just learned Res is still making music and sounds just as AWESOME as she did when she released this album, YEAH!! : ) Thank-you for posting the video.
Loved Res's debut album. Like others I thought it was so bizarre more people didn't get a chance to hear it. But "Let Love" made it onto the soundtrack of Denzel's Out of Time movie. I nearly screamed when I heard it play I was so happy.
Much Love to this lady. My top 5 ladies. (1) date No particular order. Paget Brewster, Res, Saana Lathan, Mila Kunis, Ingrid Michaelson, Bonus Jeri Ryan two and a half men and Taraji P. Henson

Me too it was such a special time because my son was just a baby and I was to stay at home mom, so I was always watching MTV

I fell in love instantly with this song when I first saw the video on MTV and VH1 in 2002.

This reminds me of a darker time in my life and still I love it. This art is so very beautiful.
Seeing her when I was a kid was so affirming as a black girl whose black wasn't the stereotypical black.
