There was also a guy called Jan Janszoon. Who became a slave, freed himself and became governer of Salé (the pirate republic of). And one of the most succesful pirates at that. His son left to the US and became the progenitor of one of the wealthiest people ever: Cornelius Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt meaning from the town of Bilt. Thats where the Dutch do their weather measurements now.

As a dutchman the top 3 things I have stuck in my mind about our history is this, Michiel de Ruyter and that time where the assasin that killed William the silent got gruesomely tortured and executed.

It's really important, both for crediting the scholars and authors you're drawing from, and so that people can track the line of citations back to see where a piece of information came from - whenever someone repeats a claim without including a source, that breaks the line of evidence and makes it much harder to verify that a claim hasn't been misrepresented or made up. The gold-standard is to include on-screen citations like how you'd use in-text citations in an essay, but even something as simple as a list of sources you read for the video in the description is good enough. The philosopher Baruch Spinoza was so disgusted by this he was about to go post a message and speak in the town square condemning everyone in it but his landlord stopped him because the landlord knew Baruch might be targeted by the mob himself.
