It is called an "eggcrate" because in antique wooden slat egg cases there was a cardboard insert that divided the interior into squares so the eggs were separated into individual sections so they would not bump into each other and break. Each egg had a square cardboard home where it was safe and secure. Of course the squares were much larger to fit eggs. : )
Great idea for repurposing which is always a great idea. I love taking something that is meant for one thing and finding out so many other uses! Thanks for sharing another awesome organization idea. This would be something you could use in the garage for your tools as well like screwdrivers and things. My mind is a buzzing!
I love that idea. It's way better than the pegboard I was going to use for my small hand tools AND portable! Bliss here! Here's one for you: I use to work at a local retail location that had just about everything except the kitchen sink, furniture or appliances. One day I noticed that the shotgun ammo holders were about the same size as my lipstick tubes. I tried one and ta-da! Perfect fit, except you couldn't put the lid on it. Who cared? It's not like it was going anywhere. My friends were surprised and bought their own. Have a wonderful day!
@@TheCraftyOrganizer I love using found or heirloom items to hold stuff, but trying to refit them so they WORK as well as being cool - it can be a challenge. For my straight knitting needles, I have a cool wooden box designed to hold 3 big bottles, but all my smaller needles get lost in the bottom, & the tall ones fall over. With this I can customize the compartments so everyone stands up straight AND I can glue a bottom on half of the lower grid, so my DPN's have the boost they need. I can use a leftover piece to pop my circular needles thru. They can hang from the cable & not get twisted or kinked in some bag. I'm quite excited about this.
I really like the idea of using a pegboard and "S" hooks to hold everything. Hobby Lobby sells something similar to the marker/pen holder you made, but it's round. If you want to add a handle, you'll need to figure out a solution because it comes apart easily. I haven't completely decided how I want to organize everything, so I'm not ready to permanently glue the pieces together. Thank you! 🤗😘
Ooo, I got one....you could use them in a foam core shelf/dresser to add structure while still keeping it light. It would also help to cut the foam core square. :)

I have no idea if you read the new comments on old posts, but I hope you do. I don’t know how I missed this one when it first came out, but I did. I went to your channel this morning to specifically find ways to store pens, gel pens, marked, etc. I have hundreds and I want to be able to see them always. I do have the carrying case for my tombow markers, but I’m order to store them flat, I unfold the case and lay it flat beneath my monitor. That way I can keep them in numerical order, store them flat, and always have them at my fingertips. I have bought numerous storage things that sit on my desk for other pens, pencils, etc. the problem with that is, I’m running out of desk space! I just purchased a new set of 120 gel pens and have nowhere to put them 🙄 Thank you so much for this brilliant and inexpensive idea!! As far as copic markers go, my daughter and I both pronounce it with a long o sound as in hope. One other thank you. I also have an obsession with stickers. I saw your post about putting them in 3-ring binders. This has been great. Most of mine will fit in the page keepers designed for sports cards. The are 9 slots on each page. I also purchased sleeves with 3x 5 and 4x6 slits for the larger ones. I put the stickers in small ziplock bags so they slide out of the sheep protectors. It took a while to do it, but it is so worthwhile. I no longer make a special trip to bu specific stickers, because I probably have ones that will do. I sorted them buy subject, like all my flowers are in one binder, my animals are actually in two binders. I said I was obsessed - I now have 12 binders of sorted stickers that I can find and use! I’m sure I have over 10,000 stickers 😬. Thank you for your wonderful content!!

I say coh-picks with the long o. As for the markers if they are double sided store them flat. If they are only one sided then store them cap down or flat. You don't want the nibs to dry out. As for paint brushes, after use they should be stored brush side down while drying. This prevents the water from getting into the ferrule and over time loosening the glue that holds the brush in place. It is not so important on cheap paint brushes, but on quality paint brushes it is important. After it is dry you can store the brush flat or in a jar with the brush side up.
I have so many pens here there and everywhere Great idea Very doable I like your favorite stripes. . . Now with flowers and scallops. . . Very springy 💐💐

Just make it to fit in a storage box that has a lid - AND a handle!!!! There are tons of storage boxes like this... just need to know the size of the box, and cut to fit. An inexpensive tool box may work too! Depends on the length of your pens/markers. Let me know if you need help finding the right container! xoxox

I use the light panel system for my Copic markers. (Using only 1piece of panel.) I have it set up in a box with a hinged lid that I bought on sale at Michaels. When I use them, I have it set upright. When I put my markers away, I set the box on it's side. Works very well for me. I love your ideas too!!
I was told by the art store that it’s fine to have your markers upright for transit but if you have a dual tip nib and you want to use both nibs then you need to store them flat so the ink is distributed across both nibs. So short term storage, either is fine, long term storage is best flat 😊 I have had my alcohol markers over 10 years laying flat and none have dried out other than the ones I used up! If you have Distress Markers they have to be stored flat... and they still dry out which sucks. They were such a disappointment.

I inherited a grid storage container from another crafter because she didn't like it. Found out that I don't like it either. I hated 'fitting' each item into a tiny hole. Drove me crazy how precise I had to be. Turns out I prefer to store markers and tools and stuff in mugs, jars, glass tumblers, vases, etc. with WIDE openings and smaller 'feet'. It's a great way to store the markers as well as to carry them to my Copic classes but I am learning to check out more budget-friendly ways to manage my craft supplies.
The important thing is you have a product you enjoy and a way to organize them...... Bt if you get more, I have an affordable solution to use ;)
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I’ll need to measure the space I have and count the pens I have and see if I can make a plan. Did I say THANK YOU?!!? Great use of hardware
