Windy Iris Art, i store them in my desk, in containers, but they get messed up easily, and end up all over the place, mostly on my desk just scattered everywhere
For my markers I use a CD storage unit. I cut dividers in cardboard and covered them in décorative contact paper. Very versatile I can change the size of the compartments whenever I want.
I love antique packaging design, so I have a few vintage cans and jars and so forth that I cleaned out, left the original labels on, and store things in...my “good” pencils (the artist’s quality drawing pencils, not the standard no. 2 school pencils) are in a 1930s baking soda can, for example. I also have a clear glass flower vase my late grandmother left me...when my pencils get worn down to nubs, I toss the nub into the vase...it should look pretty cool as it fills up!
I have 80+ rolls of Washi and I keep them in an old photo storage box with a sunflower print that we just had sitting around the house. I just got new Artify alcohol markers and they stay in the carrying pouch they came in. Everything else, like cheaper art supplies stay in an old school style storage container, ya know the little rectangle plastic ones kids keep in their desks. And for my beading supplies, I use the prebought storage containers. Same goes for like paperclips, binder clips, my nicer Ikea markers and and black and white set, as well as just fineliners in general. And my acrylics stay in the organized packaging they came in.
Thanks for sharing all your tips, those plastic containers sound perfect. I have a couple of bead storage containers and I really like them as well, good for all sorts of tiny objects.
Loved this video on so many levels. I really appreciate how you recycle so many containers. We spend so much on art supplies that to have to spend money on ways to organize them is sometimes just more than I can manage. I thank you very much for giving me so many storage alternatives!!❤️
Thank you Debbie, very glad you enjoyed the video. I really try to recycle as many containers as possible, buying storage can be so expensive so times:)
Omg you never fail to amaze me. I never would've thought about gluing those IKEA cardboard boxes together. That's just genius. So many amazing ideas. Wow. ❤
Great tips and solutions. I especially like your Copic marker case. I'm still trying to find storage solutions that work for me... but one thing I've found is that empty wax paper, tin foil, or plastic wrap boxes, are good storage for Washi tape....
I just skip to the part about taking the empty cans. If someone is eating pringles I will ask them if I can have the can afterwards. I wonder if that's strange;)
I really like the ideas that you have shown. Like you, I need to see my supplies or I will forget them. I'm going to look again at my recycling items before they get to the bin! Thank you xx
This was excellent! I love love especially the ideas to reuse or create items from what you have. My grandmother taught me that many years ago and it is great advice!
Thank you for sharing your storage ideas! My husband just bought me a set of 73 Sakura Pigma Pens and found your video while searching for storage tips. You've inspired me to reuse some of our amazon shipping boxes and create new homes for my pens :)
I live in a small flat but i have so much craft stuff, it inhabits every room lol. I like your idea for small spaces as that is useful for me. I also like to recycle as much as i can. Thank you for the ideas.
I have a lot of pens/pencils/markers too. One of my most useful holders is an old candle jar. When the candle was done I melted what was left on the bottom and put it in a smaller jar with a wick to use as a new smaller candle. I took the jar and washed it out. It was one of the candles with 3 wicks so it holds a lot. Plus the sides go straight up and down so there is no wasted space like with a normal pen cup (smaller bottom) or from the lip of a jar. The only problem I've had is one broke when it fell off of the coffee table.
Thanks for sharing :) love your ideas especially like recycling old containers. My favorite system for storing sets of pencils and fineliners is in the zippered pencil cases though. I have them in row on my desk i can quickly flip through and find the color i need. Works better for me than piles. I still like containers and drawers for other things :)
this is very useful video and great idea some time I keep it is same containers and use and glass jar plastic bag and some box I MAKE IT ((DIY)) and my washi tape i keep it in plastic bag and always i try to keep it in different way make it easier to use my supply
I have alot of washi. For me i get the pants hangers that you can hang multiple pairs on one hanger. It works well for having a bunch and can hang up easily to be where i can see it but not in the way all the time
OMG, so funny, looks like me! I've got the same pens as you, tons of them, but thought they were all supposed to be stored horizontally, not vertically. Jars, oh heck yeah, tons of them, coffee cups too, and knock them over constantly, agrrrrr. lol. You've really got it going on with supplies WIndy - Thanks so much, Subscriber from Florida USA
so for me I take a cling rap box or a foil box and put all my washitapes on the little roll you keep ur cling wrap on so after i do that i use the sharp edge of the box used to cut the cling warp or foil to cut the strip of tape
A friend gave me a decorative box from Japan called a Washi box, so I keep my favorite rolls of washi tape in there. 😁 But I love your embroidery hoop idea!
I arrived at your video looking for storage ideas for my alcohol markers. I hav 3 different types and I was looking to buy storagw but it is too expensive. Thanks
I'm a little late to the video lol. But the only thing is that I don't tend to use pots to store craft supplies except for brushes, gel pens, ballpoint pens, etc. I'd never store an ink pen upright or upside down because that can affect the ink flow, especially if your pen is leaning towards the more dead side. I bought a set of 5 sterlite drawers, and I have a total of 7 now, from Amazon for $30 and it keeps all of my art supplies [there's a ton] and that way it's both easier to see small colored pencils since they're sideways annnd ink pens are on their side so they stay alive easier!
How about a storage cart? You can get little ones on wheels with several shelves - that way you can put everything away when you're not using it and take it from room to room if you need ☺
Storage carts. But if money were an issue you may be able to get a cheap shelving unit or small bookshelf? I have a big hardware shelving unit to store alot of my supplies. Another option may be the plastic storage cubes or plastic totes.
@@3xand3r49 money is an issue atm. I was thinking of getting those boxes that got wheels so I can put them under my bed. I also got a big cardboard that is fill with my sketchbooks that I already filled.
Ahh ok. I know they arnt technically for storage use.... But post offices have boxes for priority mail.. You pay when you send the package, so maybe those could be used as a temporary storage option?
No, you just haven’t seen them. They are like potato chips that are all the same size and shape. They are sold in a can that is about the same size as a container that holds 3 tennis balls. Hope this helps!
A few art supply storage ideas. How do you store your supplies?
Windy Iris Art, i store them in my desk, in containers, but they get messed up easily, and end up all over the place, mostly on my desk just scattered everywhere
I also use boxs in good storage shapes & cups, pots & even kitchen storage like for forks and spoons
Windy Iris Art I love your storage containers. I recycle old cups in containers. I buy them from thrift shops.
I'm a kid and I use boxes
I am getting new art items for Christmas and this is really helpful!, because I have many jars and other containers, thanks
Having items out on the desk means they get used more--this is soooo me. If stuff is away in a box I may as well not own it!
Yup boxes are not a good idea for me either:)
For my markers I use a CD storage unit. I cut dividers in cardboard and covered them in décorative contact paper. Very versatile I can change the size of the compartments whenever I want.
That's a great idea!! Thanks for sharing, I like that you can make the sections any size you need.
That is BRILLIANT! And you always see CD storage towers at the thrift stores for cheap, LOL!

I love that u reuse things already in your home. I did the same because store bought containers is just too expensive.

That's a good tip Phoebe, I had't thought of using plastic wrap boxes but the'd be able to turn so they'd make perfect storage:)
yeah. =) It's working for me. =)
Wow you have a lot of art supplies
Love your storage ideas
Glad you enjoyed the video - I have a lot of supplies because art is part of my job and I have supplies to use/review on my you tube channel:)
I love all the repurposed container ideas!
Thanks Brigita:)
I am so swiping that Pringle’s for pen containers idea!!! Very smart and very customizable.
I love that washi tape embroidery hoop! Gives me a great idea to create a 'wreath' of washi tapes and give it to a fellow artist!
Really loved the ideas for the copics. Thank you!

Very useful. I use large tomato sauce cans for my watercolor brushes. I love your wooden chest of drawers where did you get them?
I have a small box unit made out of wood, the units are about 5" by 5". I like to store ribbons, tape dispenser, pencil sharpener, glue sticks ect!
That sounds very functional, I love wooden storage:)
