- I needed a break from boat restoration and RUclips. Winter was the logical time too do it. Little did I know that I would also be having prostate cancer surgery before my return to boat restoration and creating videos. In this video I will give an update on the projects I worked on during my break, my prostate removal surgery and how I'm doing with the recovery. I will also outline what I will be working on for the boat project in April.
Bob, Thanks for sharing your journey. Glad your surgery went well and that your recovery is going so well. Sending positive thoughts your way.
I appreciate the positive thoughts. I believe it's working. Feeling good. Thanks for the comment and watching. - Bob
Boat can wait! First, take good care of YOURSELF! Best wishes for a quick and complete recovery.
My mind is ready to jump back into it but my body is quick to remind me, when it must, to take it slow and steady. I will get there eventually. My recovery is going well and I'm back at the boat working on small projects. Thanks for the comment. I very much appreciated it. - Bob
I pray for your recovery and return to your work . I can relate to your experience. I am 3 years behind schedule to finish our boat due to illness. May GOD Bless You
Your prayers are being answered. My recovery is coming along well. I'm already back at the boat doing some smaller lighter projects. It feels great. I hope you recover fully from your illness and can get back to finishing your boat. If it makes you feel any better, my schedule has been slipping for 12 years since I started working on the boat. Despite being in good health the entire time. I'm sure we will both get there eventually. Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts. - Bob
hang in there get your strength back so you can get that great boat in the the water what you have done so far is superb
Thanks Gerald, I'm a month past the surgery now and finally back to work on the boat. At bit slower pace at the moment. Gets better every day though. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob
I checked in to see your new episode with a prostate biopsy the next day. What a help your words helped me. Forever will remember this one. Thanks for your commitment and concern.
I hope all went well with your biopsy. Even though I didn't share all the details of the biopsy or the surgery in the video I'm not shy about sharing any aspects of my experience with anyone going or potentially going though it. Questions? Renovationsportfish@gmail.com. Best of luck with the results. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob
Bob you’re the man!
This is Colin btw!
Thanks man. Hope the scars weren’t too much of a scare. Good to see you. - Bob
Good to see you back brother.
The scars weren’t scary, it was when you panned back up.😂
LOL! 😂 Unfortunately I have not come across a lens filter to help with the normal scary. - Bob
Hi Bob … thanks for sharing the story … the possibilities in medicine are fantastic today and I saw a report in german TV a few weeks ago that treatments against this type is very successful … think positive ! … this is absolutely the best for a fast healing and sustainable recovering …
HI Jurgen, I am quite positive and the recovery is going well. There are many unsung heroes in this world that are figuring these things out and we don't give it much thought. Until we need them and truly appreciate what they are doing for us. My thought for the day as I enjoy a beer. Thanks for the comment. - Bob
Hallo Bob, we want to wish you all the best, get well soon, take care of yourself and lots of strength for you! Greetings from Jeroen and Maria from Bavaria Germany!
Hi Guys, Thanks for the well wishes. My recovery is going well. In fact I was at the boat this past weekend starting the next project. Small but just what I need to get back into it. Even got the cameras dusted off to film it. Hope all is well in Bavaria. See you soon. - Bob
Sorry to hear of your medical scare. i wish you well. i enjoy your videos and following the progress.
Thanks Michael. It was rough but I'm doing good. Thanks for watching the videos and following along. There is a lot more to do and I'm looking forward to doing it. - Bob
Glad your feeling good, Take your time get healthy. Will be back to working on the boat when you can.
Thanks Garritt, My recovery progress is good and boatwork is back in my world with some minor limitations (for now). I appreciate the comment. - Bob

Thanks Victor, I appreciate the good wishes and positive thoughts. I'm recovery well and am back to some boat work. Yay! - Bob
Bob good to hear from you ... hope your doing well and look forward to the next videos.
Thanks Jeff, Doing well and actually back to working on lighter boat projects and filming. Hopefully I can continue to make progress and get the next video out soon. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob
So sorry to hear about the prostate surgery , good news is it went well for you , I am a bit older than you and so far all is well in that department i have several friends that have been and some that are going through the same issues thank you for talking about it and shining a light on a problem that affects so many older men. Please take care and i am looking forward to seeing more content from you. Thank you
Thanks for showing concern and sharing your thoughts on the matter. Probably the most important subject I will ever address on this channel. On a lighter note, I have dusted off my camera gear and my tools and am working on that content again! Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob
I’m a year older than you but can relate on many levels. Thanks for sharing. That’s what we need to do to save lives. BTW, I’m restoring a 1980 Hatteras 58’ LRC. I was becoming frustrated before I found your RUclips channel. I lack your skills but am learning a lot from these videos. Oh yeah, their definitely helping with my patience. Keep up the great work.
Yeah welcome to the age of conversation topic change. Hmm. Anyway I googled your boat to see what it looked like. Makes my project look like a dingy restoration. Hope it's in good condition. One reason I started the channel was because of the lack of in depth content or boat restoration projects pertaining to these types of boats available on RUclips. I'm glad the channel content has helped in that respect. Thanks for the comment and watching the videos. - Bob
Godspeed for recovery !
Thanks. I appreciate that. All is going really well. - Bob
Thank you for sharing your story Bob. Regular physicals and blood work so important. Glad your surgery went well and you are feeling good!
Thank you. You are so right. We need to spread the word. Good for all. - Bob
Thanks for sharing and good luck Bob
Thanks Cliff, I appreciate your thoughts. - Bob
Holy cow Bob!!!!!! Well I'm certainly glad your doing good now!!!❤ 👍 And I knew you are some sort of nuclear physicist or somethin cause of your eye for meticulous detail!! Lol My brothers a cancer survivor, lymphoma, in his throat when he was 30, we'r in our late 40's now and he's been in remission for 17 years now! He's kind of pain in my ass, considering he's got a 42' Post sportfisher iv got to restore in Crisfield MD!!!!..long story,..you'll get to see it soon, haha! Anyway, I'll keep you in my prayers for sure!! Your boats starting to look badass!!! Keep on, keeping on my brother!!!!❤
Hey Martin, Not quite a nuclear physicist, more like a mechanical designer (piping systems) . Still required attention to detail though. Glad to hear your brother survived his cancer. You’re a good brother to take on restoring his boat but a 42 footer. Wow! Hopefully it’s in good condition. Good luck with the project. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts & commenting. Take care. - Bob
Hi. All the best to you , take it easy and recover. You do beautiful work buddy . Hats off to you.
Thanks Tom. I have been taking it easy, but I am starting to get back to doing the things I love to do. Thanks for the nice comment. - Bob
Best wishes and looking forward to your journey in life.
Thanks for the good wishes Richard. I appreciate the positive thoughts. - Bob
Bob - thanks for sharing. I’m 56 and have been 100% on my game my whole life thinking I was invincible. But…what nobody prepares us for is: 1 - the challenges of managing care for aging parents and; 2 - our own health issues that start to come out of nowhere at this age. As men, we generally don’t talk about it either (even my best friends and I generally avoid it), so you’re doing a good service to tell us. If nothing else, it let’s us know we’re in it together. Thanks for a great attitude and especially for continuing on with the project. I get a lot of enjoyment out of your videos. Glad you’re on the mend!
Thanks John, Yeah we can do better. Not the first things we want to talk about with our buddies when we get together. I'm kind of like that too. Doesn't need to be a long conversation, just a mention to make each other aware to get checked. Then maybe a reminder in a non nagging way. We all want to be around to talk about sports, cars, beer and most importantly here boats for a long time. Thanks for the comment and sharing your thoughts on the subject. - Bob
We wish you well. Keep pushing!
Thanks Joe, this won't keep me down for long. Already working on things again. Not pushing too hard yet though. It felt good to get over to the boat this past weekend and do a little work on it. Thanks for the comment and watching. - Bob
Get well son i love your content
Thanks Michael, I appreciate the comment. - Bob
Sorry to hear about the cancer, but glad to hear surgery went well and you’re recovering. House projects, mustang and the boat work look great!
I'm glad I caught it early. My recovery has gone well enough to get back on projects, which is what I enjoy. Thank you for commenting and watching the videos. - Bob
Hi Bob! I'm glad your doing ok and recovering and thanks for sharing your surgery story. I purchased a 1975 Egg Harbor 33 Convertible last year and love your videos and your craftsmanship. I'm very impressed with your work. I hope your healing process goes smooth fine sir!
Thanks JC, I'm doing good. Back working on the boat in a limited capacity but it feels good to be back at it. I hope your Egg is treating you well. If not we can figure out the remedies for it. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob
Speedy recovery!!
Thank you. It's going well - Bob
Hey Bob I am glad you are back with us! I have a 46 Post with my fam and I have to say my dad always talks about you and the repairs you do. That is a beautiful boat you have there and you are very talented. You need to take care of yourself first then what you love to do. I cherish the time with my family as much as I can. Subscribed and best of luck from Boston Ma, and as always keep up the great work brother!!!!
Thank your Dad for me. I appreciate his interest and it makes me feel good about putting in the effort to share the project on RUclips. I took it easy to recover and glad I did. Thanks for commenting, watching & subscribing. Boats, Mustangs & Boston. Three of my favorite things. - Bob
We have become very friendly with a gentleman you have spoken to from Bert’s boat yard. Obviously not mentioning names you’ll know him. He was very helpful on a repair we did on the boat. Let’s say we were kept out of “hot water” with both of your inputs and staying dry😀
Thanks for sharing . That was a very unselfish thing to do. Thats a very private topic Hopefully you may have given someone the courage to have it checked . Good luck with your recovery.
Awareness is the first step. Hopefully I have made the 1 in 6 aware sooner than later. My recovery is going well. Thanks watching and for the concern for my and others well being. - Bob
Hi Bob, Sorry it's been so long since I have watched any videos, but my wife has been dealing with a cancer issue also. We've been spending way more time with oncologists and other doctors than we would like. We're optimistic about her recovery and keeping our spirits up. Glad to hear your surgery went well and it sounds like you're well on your way to recovery. Isn't this supposed to be our "Golden Years"? Best Wishes and take care of yourself. Jerry
Hi Jerry, I will start by apologizing for my delayed reply. We were concerned that we had not seen a comment from you on my more recent videos. I say we because my wife reads the comments and mentioned she didn't see Jerry commenting with concern in her voice. Sorry to hear about your wife. We hope she is recovering well. I don't think a week goes by these days that I don't hear about a relative or friend that is experiencing a health issue. We all age together. Best to you both. Good to be back working on our boat. - Bob
@@renovationsportfish1563 Hi Bob, Thanks for your concerned reply. Yeah, I had fallen behind watching my favorite videos (yours) and a few others as well. First chemo treatment was on 8/9/23 so we have a journey ahead. We just celebrated our 44th Anniversary, so we're in it for the long run. Glad to hear your recovery is moving along nicely. Thanks for the videos, I'm sure it gets pretty hot working with fiberglass during July/Aug. Take care and give my regards to your wife. Jerry.
Thanks for being honest. I have to have a prostate biopsy on the 4th April and not looking forward to it. Take your time health before boat my friend
I hope things turned out ok with your biopsy. I can sympathize with you on not looking forward to it. As I know, cancer doesn't wait around for when you're ready. Glad you're getting checked out. You are right. Health first. Thanks for commenting and sharing my friend. - Bob
Incredibly brave video Bob, it's good to see you in decent spirits about your whole worrying experience especially with that wiggled finger 😂
Im chuckling at my own memory of it,, (what else can you do?)
The mustang is stunning, at first I thought it was a hardtop as I prefer that shape to the coupe.
Stay positive fella
I will admit. I may have checked out my new primary care doctors hand size when we first met. Kidding aside it's well worth the brief discomfort and clean up efforts to save a life. My spirits are still high. Worked a little on the boat this past weekend and it felt great. Thanks for the comment and for watching. - Bob
Bob, happy to hear you are on the mend. Continue to take care of yourself, and I hope you are back to your normal self soon.
Thanks Jim, Things are coming along well so far. I'm back working on the boat with some minor limitations and am expecting things to keep improving . Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob
Glad to hear you're doing well Bob :) My dad went through the same thing two years ago.
Thanks Jake, I hope things worked out ok for your dad. I appreciate the comment. - Bob
I had cancer to. I went through treatment and it came back a year later. I couldn't do the treatments again because of my reaction to them. I thought I was going to die. Then I found fenbendazole. Please take this it is a life saver. It saved me.
Thanks for the advice. I'm glad you were able to eventually find something that worked for you. Hopefully mine doesn't come back, but if it does I will inform my doctor of your results. Thanks for the comment. - Bob
Hey Bob, Good to see you come thru the other side of what could have been a lot worse. I'm approaching 60 next year and you sharing your story is a great reminder to become a little more routine with our medical check ups, so thanks for sharing!
Yes, unlike when we were 20 it takes a conscious effort to be invincible. (unfortunately) Thanks for the comment and watching. - Bob
Hope all turns out well for you Bob. Rest up and feel better.
Thanks Danny, Everything is going well and I'm feeling good. Getting back into the swing of things. Thanks for the comment. -Bob
Ouch, glad you're feeling well! I too am about your age with a nuclear background (refueling SSN & SSBN's at Newport News Ship Yard). What do they attribute the cause to, genetics or ....? I'm certain they didnt say "long term exposure to low level radiation"! Rest easy so you don't drive your family crazy, we'll wait! The Mustang reminds me of my 67 Cougar/ 289cuin.......WE"RE OLD!
They really didn't say or even look into the cause. My dad had it too but who knows. The silver car that you may have seen glimpses of in the background in my garage is my 67 Cougar. Bought it in 1982 or 1983. We're old but we have good taste. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob
😥❤
It was tough news to get and go through but things are getting better. 😁 Thanks for your concern. - Bob
