I chose the warmest winter of this project to take my break. Don’’t tell anyone but I had to sneak over to the boat a couple of times. You know, just to check on it. A swear I didn’t work on it. Right. Glad you appreciate my editing skill. Have to keep it fun. - Love your comment. Thanks man - Bob

Continued beautiful work, Bob. Love how you're continuing to pay attention to detail.
I was amazed at the condition of those bolts! They look like archeological finds from the colonial times!
Don't worry about a video schedule; quality over quantity is all the better! Your efforts are very much appreciated!

Thanks Neil. The bolts (and most other things on this boat) have definitely seen better days. Thanks for understanding the video situation. Progress continues and there will be plenty to share when I’m back in editing mode. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Bob

Engine room looks very nice and your really taking your time to do it right. It will be interesting to see what engine package you choose.

Thanks Tony, The interest in the engine selection is a close second to the launch date. When I finally figure it out and am ready to announce the news I may need to break my Thursday video release day rule and have a "special report" video. It may be a ways off but it is a day to look forward to. Thanks for the comment and watching. - Bob

Been loving all the videos and that's helpful for my boat! Your Cape sweat shirt reminds me of back home in Billerica! Keep it up!
    Thanks!

I’m glad you find the videos helpful. Main reason for continuing to do them so thanks for letting me know with your comment. I “borrowed” that sweatshirt from a friend many years ago. It’s falling apart now but I’m not ready to return it yet. He hasn’t asked for it either. Thanks for watching. - Bob

Good to see you again, Bob. Always enjoyable to follow your meticulous work. That is going to turn out to be one, amazing boat. I know you’re likely far away from it, but will continue to look forward to hearing how you re-power. Based on you noting the removal of the raw water pick-ups (or at least the seacocks), I’m wondering if maybe you’re close to making some decisions.

Hi John, I narrowed down my options to 2. Unless this drags on. Then maybe electric will be added to the list. Half joking here. I will be doing the engines last or close to it so I have a lot ahead of me to get finished before an actual decision needs to be made. The height of the engine area is a limitation so V8 gas or a V6 diesels are my top choices at the moment. Thanks for the comment & the interest. - Bob

Thanks again for your videos. They are educational for me. Boats require a lot of maintenance. Too often the owners just don’t keep up with things. Compare the rules governing airplane maintenance to the lack of rules governing boat maintenance. A mechanical failure in a boat can be just as dangerous as a mechanical failure in an airplane.

    • @renovationsportfish1563
      @renovationsportfish1563  2 года назад

I was told by the previous owner that the boat ran. As we can see if that was the case it was not a good situation to actually run it. Continually keeping up with maintenance is key. More so as it ages. Items beyond the basics need to be inspected to catch things before they are beyond small repairs. Thanks for the comment and watching. - Bob

Thanks Bob, Great work as always. That grease seems to have done a wonderful job of preserving our hull. ha ha. The Simple Green seemed to do a good job of cleaning stains but I'm sure it was mostly sanding and scrubbing. Is there wood inside of the stringers or are they solid fiberglass? I'm sure we'll find out when you repair the limber holes, but I can't remember. Those old beds have definitely seen better days but I agree about using them as templates. You can't find a better source than the originals. Thanks again for the new episode and I look forward to every one. Jerry

Hi Jerry, I’m sorry for the delay in my replies. I read all right away. The stringers have a 1 1/8” plywood core. All seam solid for a change. There are a few spots where they didn’t fiberglass over them very good and the wood is a little soft, but very very minor and I plan to just treat with a penetrating epoxy and some thickened epoxy filler. I also plan to overlay many layers of fiberglass over all of the stringers including the new engine beds. I did just find wet plywood at the Rudders/Strut backup plywood and will need to replace all of it. I have actually started that process. Stay well. - Bob

Bob what do you do for a living?
The problem with u tube is most channels start out simple enough.
Then the ones that have a real goal or real substance get overwhelmed with filming and editing.
How about just keeping it simple. (KISS)
I want to hear and see your take on restoring YOUR Boat kinda like Your Tube.....
Spend more time on the boat. Less on apologies.
Your level of workmanship needs no explanation.

Hi Dorothy, My job title is a designer. Basically I do CAD for an engineering firm specializing in transportation projects. I'm in the facilities group so it is mostly architectural. I hear you. I guess the drive to do a good job on the boat or whatever the channel is doing carries over into the video part of it. Being on a computer all day doesn't help with the ambition to jump on at night. Streamlining the process is what I am working on and it seams to have helped a bit. Thanks for the comment and watching. - Bob
