Once again I both love the work you’ve done and I love the manner in which you show that work to us! I’m glad you’re taking us along on your trip to build Sea Dreamer. Thank you!
Bravo! Its remarkable the work your doing, building a large boat/small ship😉 for the most part on your own. I realy do appreciate all of you boat building RUclipsrs. Thank you for sharing your amazing project with us!
G'day Scott,, Excellent episode, the boat is really taking shape nicely. Some beautiful lines on the planking , overall the carpentry has been a joy to watch ,really nice work Scott. Thanks so much for taking the time to share it with us . Lookin foward to the next already . Much Respect from Down Under
extraordinary to see such a large project carried out by a single man ....! what talent and patience, it is cut to the mm, I can only admire this work ... Bravo! nothing but the hangar leaves me speechless .... there are people on earth who know how to work in a precise way,
The obnoxious pedantic part of me immediately said 'Hey, those decks don't look cambered!" And then I thought about how nice it would be to be able to have an uncambered deck on a liveaboard. Great choice, Scott.
Scott, I'll give you a lot of credit for this build. You've got a lot of stick-tu-it-tivness that's for sure. Well done, like to watch you planning and working; really looking good.
My cousin lost two and a half of his fingers using an old radial arm saw just like the one you have. Boat coming along well. Looking good bud looking good. ignore all the rude comments Scott you,re doing a fantastic job. Congrats on the milestone of getting a majority of the planking done.
Great to have you back Scott. Nice work on the sole frae work. You will definitely appreciate large hatches as you get older. Had to crawl into the attic the other day and they make those access hatches too small too! Take care, stay well and thank you for the newest video.
Really respect you doing this. Building a wooden boat out of house like materials. I personally would never build this type of boat but hey do what you want life is short
The building industry has lost a good one when Scott, a multi craftsperson, started to make a boat. Got to be a lot better than going on to some sites. Well done.
Great You are healed from last year injuries! I love your project. My 1958 oldtimer boat is built from steel. It’s 45 feet long and 15 metric tons.. I would love to modify it for a more ergonomic layout.
Gotta ask why you didn't put pieces between the plywood gussets when you laid the cross beams; that would have prevented any distortion of the plywood. You would have no compression issues and the whole structure would be stronger. Also, I was always taught that a bolt should have 1 1/2 threads protruding after tightening; you have an inch and a half or so. Having said that, impressed with the amount of work you are doing. I see lots of ways I would have done things differently, but you're doing it and I'm not. Keep on, pretty awesome.
The Whisky Plank is considered the very last plank installed on a wooden boat that is built only with planks screwed onto frames from the garboard plank to the sheer plank. Like Tally Ho's design from what I've always understood of the whisky plank, then they celebrate that final install of the very last plank, which is called the whisky plank. Nevertheless I fully agree with you that you have achieved quite the milestone there bud. Btw Your sole Looks like a solid build. She is looking like a boat and you can get a better idea what size you've built. btw thanks for playing descent music, some channels are just brutal when it comes to their selection of tunes, your selection helps us all enjoy watching your videos even the more better. So thanks again.
Yeah, maybe less artisan but at the same time he builds a big boat alone and fast. It will not enjoy low drag but has nice inside spaces. Calling it dodgy seems unfair, just a simple difference in approach.
I believe this boat is a Phil Bolger design. Bolger focused alot of his later designs on boats that could be built by non-professionals out of commonly available lumber, but would result in a serviceable vessel with good performance. Not dodgy at all, just not traditional. Sorry, this is a George Beuhler design, also a well respected yacht designer with similar goals of making a boat build accessible to everyone.
The two projects are not comparable, and to be fair Scott has never claimed that. It's boatbuilding with shed building skills, not my idea of a " bonny boat", but it is well established model.
Glad to see you back Scott! Boat is looking great!!! Smart man on the hatch size.... We don't bend the way we use too.... No sense in trying to jam yourself in 18 X 18 hole in the floor🙄 ( why do manufacturers do that?) Don't be afraid to put a few led lights in the bilge. So when you have to go down there you can see what's going on.... Just got back from Sarasota this morning, saw you dropped a new video....👍
Shes not a classically built boat, but she doesnt have to be. She's built strong, stronger then most of the fiberglass boats built today. Not the longest lasting materials, but with good maintenance she'll last a life time. Thats all you need to ask of a good wooden boat
I look at the 'sole 'timbers running port to starboard & wonder why they are not fit in the centre of the plywood gussets that are part of the ribs. That way they are in a pocket bolted in line with the rib timbers. As they are now being bolted to the side, it goes against all I learned when building trusses for a roof. & basically the hull timber structure is like a roof truss ...just upside down.
Now that you've done the other side of the planking might you wanna drop a centerline and measure to see if planking one side then the other caused it to warp the boat?
Arent you concerned about access to the wooden fuel tanks? I would assume you have investigated the long term effects of fuel on epoxy and wood if flex cracks develop.
Can you put me in your will for c-clamps and the power tool batteries? That would be greatly appreciated. In addition to enjoying your construction videos I have come to realize to undertake a project such as yours one of the biggest expenses is going to be for c-clamps and battery operated power tools. You have a bunch of both.9 God bless you for your skills and the desire to build your boat and then, you share your experiences with us, thank you. From Missouri
Great project. I look forward to every episode. One question, why do you use these antiquated ones Slotted screws and not modern screws with Torx head or similar?
When it comes time for repairs, it is much easier to clean fairing compound/body filler out of slotted screw heads than other types. Slotted are the standard for boat building.
Yo sure are making a herculean effort and making good progress in constructing a really strong structure. Did you really epoxy the floors in over the top of the tanks?
Hey Grandpah...grandpah.....Ohh kids don`t run, you can fall and hurt yourself..ehm, what is it? Grandpah, can you tell us a story? A story?? Yeah a story! Mmm, well, gather around and I will tell you a story about a hero. A hero??? Yes a hero. "kids"Please please pleaseee tell! Weell now kids, take it easy, husjh up and be quiet and i will tell you about this hero. "kids"Do you know him?? Ehm, no I don`t, but please be quiet..."kids" Oookayy grandpha. Okay, here we go. There was a upon a time, a man that had a huge dream, a dream about building a boat..."kids".A boat??? ah like the boat you build in the garage?..hihihi ....Be quiet! Hrm, Yes a boat. a boat that would take him far away on the sea to the end of the world. This man was like me and your father. good with he`s hands and had lot`s of ideas. So he startet to build the boat, piece by piece. "kids" Ooooooh! Ohh now now kids...Yes this man was wherry good at what he was doing and he build it from the ground up. He spend many years and lot`s of hard work on this boat. "kids" Did he sailed on the sea to the end of the world?? .yes he did, He sailed on the sea to the end of the world...He saved many animals on he`s way. "kids" Animals??? Yes animals. "kids" But but but whyy?? Because you see kids, A hero does not only build boats, he also care for people and every living thing in this world. He is wherry kind and he will always save those that are in need. "kids" Can I be a hero grandpha? (a little laughter) yes of course you can. all you need is a big heart and will.. I will give you kids a good advice, if you have a dream on something that`s good, you just keep on to it, follow it and never give up on what you want. it demands a great will and hard work, but you will get there (smile) "kids" That was a good story grandpha.....but but, where is he now? Oh I`m not sure kids...A hero is everywhere. Sometimes they are to find on youtube also. "kids" RUclips?? What is youtube grandpha?? O well kids, that`s another story to tell later on...All I can say for sure, it is a place for many heroes. "kids" Ok, we need to go now, we need to find a hero! (laughter) yes do so kids, say hello to your mom and dad for me. bye now (smile).
Every plank is a Whiskey plank 🤙
Once again I both love the work you’ve done and I love the manner in which you show that work to us! I’m glad you’re taking us along on your trip to build Sea Dreamer. Thank you!
The boat's name, I believe, is 'Ole Henry' or 'RedHenry'. I think the name shows on the badge wall.
Bravo! Its remarkable the work your doing, building a large boat/small ship😉 for the most part on your own. I realy do appreciate all of you boat building RUclipsrs. Thank you for sharing your amazing project with us!
One thing about not having the bottom planks on the boat. No sweeping up. Sawdust just falls through. Winning. :)
G'day Scott,,

Keep plugging along and enjoy the journey.

Great work Scott, congratulations on getting the side planking done.
Very nice progress !
Thanks for the video.
Slowly but surely you’re getting her put together! And the craziest thing is that your doing it all by yourself! Good on ya!
The obnoxious pedantic part of me immediately said 'Hey, those decks don't look cambered!" And then I thought about how nice it would be to be able to have an uncambered deck on a liveaboard. Great choice, Scott.
Excellent update and progressing well. Visual works in this clip shows plenty done. Great effort Scott. Cheers
Your sole/floor joists are impressive. Excellent information, keep up the good work.
I simple rabbit on each side would’ve save a lot of work..
well done Scott always look forward to your films.
Man I wish you were my neighbor, would be great to help on that build. Love your woodshop, super jealous!
Congrats on the milestone! Really excited for you!
Looking good.
Congratulations on your milestone!
Ah, I've been thinking how you have been doing. Nice vid.
Great episode, you are making amazing progress! Awesome work!
Going nice and fast sir, well done
Great progress ... well done!

Good to catch up with you Scott. Love the measuring and cutting, nice snug fits. The music was good too. Atb.

Keep the good work up Scott
Looking great, thanks.
Oh man you are kickin asd on your build. Sweet 👋🤩👍

⬆️ I saw a sister vessel at the Kewalo Boat Harbour (2020) in Hawai'i, with paravanes.
PBR plank... what a grand idea, I Love it.
Been watching since day one amazing dedication and skilled work
Good morning from southwest Florida.
She's looking good
George would be impressed,I'm sure, keep going, your doing great.
I feel like all those patches go on the Maiden...and possibly, forever, be a part of the boat!
Congrats! Getting closer to your Sea Dreams.
The building industry has lost a good one when Scott, a multi craftsperson, started to make a boat. Got to be a lot better than going on to some sites. Well done.

Ah, to hell with it It's a WHISKEY plank! Enjoy! Really nice project. I love watching.

I do hope that Milwaukee Tools are providing you some compensation for all the publicity that you provide them.
I wish!

Looks so easy in fast motion. But she's realy coming a long.
hi the boat is looking grate
Great stuff mate
After seeing Leo's skills and approach this guy gets the build a bodgy boat award, hey?
Yeah, maybe less artisan but at the same time he builds a big boat alone and fast. It will not enjoy low drag but has nice inside spaces. Calling it dodgy seems unfair, just a simple difference in approach.

Gotta love the fact that you removed the lower blade guard from the miter saw.....
As a fellow LEO, you should have let me know you were coming to South FL, first two rounds would have been on me 😃
Glad to see you back Scott!
Boat is looking great!!!
Smart man on the hatch size....

Ese barco tiene más tornillos y bulones que una locomotora....
Si son de hierro, en un año , el barco es un submarino .....👍👍👍
Amazing Carpentry skills
Not sure how I feel about wearing gloves while ripping on the table saw
Progress looks good. Curious if you can remove those tanks for repair or service?
Not positive, but I think he built then in place with epoxy hilding them in their spot.
It looked to me like the water tanks were moving around. I hope they are all fastened down.
Lots o progress. Onya.
Point of interest, can you go over your police/military badge wall and identify what service they represent. Would be most interesting. Thanks
This guy has a lot of spare time
Thanks !
Now that you've done the other side of the planking might you wanna drop a centerline and measure to see if planking one side then the other caused it to warp the boat?
Well done. Your not using a "push stick". Wolf Boy's story would be slightly different. Our hero's name might suddenly become "Stubby". Good luck.
Arent you concerned about access to the wooden fuel tanks? I would assume you have investigated the long term effects of fuel on epoxy and wood if flex cracks develop.
The cost! It must be out of this world.
Pls advise when the next episode will be released, thanks, Rob. Australia.
Anywhere in the world you want to go.... can it bring you to Minneapolis Minnesota?
Your milling goes so much faster than mine ? Must be some dark magic?
Speaking of getting older, make sure your insurance covers your knee's😀. Your giving them some hammer on this project
i saw you do some pretty risky stuff with some tools in this video, please be careful, we dont want you to lose fingers :((
I am interested in building a gothic arch shed. Any idea of where I could find plans to build one? Thank you !!
What kind of plywood are you using?
Will you build a swimming patio in the back of the boat as an extended part ?
Can you put me in your will for c-clamps and the power tool batteries? That would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like you’re building a boat inside an upside-down boat.
Tis a Big fat slab sided tub isn't it
How does it feel to be walking on the floor,( deck) of your boat?
