Prof. Jun , Thank you, for making these wonderfully detailed videos which give us direction in to preparing our SOPs. Being a future applicant I take these videos very seriously as they are well structured and informative . Please keep such videos coming. :) and I hope to make it as a GKS Scholar in 2022.
Thank you so much for the great feedback! I’ve been super blessed to have fantastic students who are willing to sit down with me and share about their experiences. I hope to share similar videos going into 2022 and wish you all the best on your application! 🙏🏻
Great advice about writing the SOP for the GKS Scholarship~~! A large amount of applicants usually make the mistake of being insincere and also not being specific enough. This scholarship is so competitive, so the advice given in this video will help any applicant create a viable strategy. On a side note, the food at Casa Latina is soooo delicious 🤤
Thanks so much for highlighting the importance of being sincere and specific! As for Casa Latina, the next video will show some of the fantastic cuisine we enjoyed.. hopefully I can treat you there when you come to Seoul! 🙏🏻
Prof. Jun, First of all I want to thank you for your commitment in your videos, those have been really helpful for me during my process with GKS this year. I would like to ask you, in university track, if you pass the first round (documentation scanning and interview) how is the second round wit NIIED? There would be another interview? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello! I’m so glad you found the videos helpful. ^^ I don’t know if there is a second interview with NIIED, but I do know that they review the application materials of those who passed the first round. Perhaps you can get in touch with NIIED or they may have an FAQ section? I wish you all the best!
Really amazing help, and you are all very nice! But at the end you said "when you go back home", actually I wanna study in Korea for having more opportunities in finding a job there, are there some chances to work in Korea after graduation? Thank you again for the amazing work!
Hi! There are many students who look for opportunities (and actually pursue careers) after their studies in Korea. I might have said that more in a mid- to longer-term sense (especially as lots of GKS scholars aim to bring what they learn and experience in Korea back home), but certainly there are many who explore opportunities here. ^^ Wishing you all the best! 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing the info. It's very helpful and informative. By the way, I have one question, I'm Vietnamese but has been living in Finland for 6 years. If I apply for the embassy track, should I go back to Vietnam or I can directly apply here at the Vietnam embassy in Finland?
I'm so glad you found the video helpful! You may want to talk directly with the GKS program and/or embassy. I understand that at some point, the embassy will interview potential candidates -- but whether this has to be done in person is something you will need to confirm. Best wishes!
I'm in the process of writing my SOP but I'm not sure if I should include a grant from a private foundation I got for my internship in Korea. My cgpa just meets the requirement so I wonder would mentioning it help my application.
Hi! I would include anything that would attest to your candidacy and set you apart from other applicants. I don’t have all the details, but I think the grant might be worth mentioning. Best wishes!
Hello prof: I'm a student of Bs physics and I have a lot of certificate's of national songs competition's can I attach these certificate's with my application in extra-curricular activities part is it helpful or gave me some extra points.
Hi! I believe it's perfectly OK to attach any certificates you may have, but I would also be sure to show how this strengthens your candidacy (so it's not just a long list of seemingly unrelated accomplishments). Wishing you all the best! ^^
You can certainly apply for the Ph.D. program if you feel that your Master's work has provided an adequate theoretical and research foundation for you to undertake the Ph.D. right away. Another option would be to apply for the combined Master's/Ph.D. program if you feel additional coursework would better prepare you prior to starting the Ph.D. I would also recommend that you get in touch with a professor in your major to get feedback on which route may be most advantageous. Best wishes!
Our Ph.D. students have diverse backgrounds and research interests, but at the core, they have demonstrated that they can undertake advanced level research and that the Ph.D. makes sense given their career trajectory. It may be worthwhile to reach out to students who are part of this or other GSIS programs. Hope this helps!
Hi! Unfortunately, I don't know any undergraduate GKS scholars in that field (I wasn't even sure that the GKS program supported those studying medicine!). But I'll try to take a look and see if anyone would be willing to chat with me. In the meantime, I'd encourage you to seek at the university programs directly and even videos of scholars who have been accepted in medicine. Best wishes!
Hi! For embassy, I heard some countries have a minimum recommended level (even if this is not compulsory, if there are many candidates who have strong TOPIK scores, they are encouraged to get a good score to be competitive). For university, this is not required (although taking the test and getting a good score would certainly be seen positively). I don’t believe it’s seen as a necessary or sufficient condition, so do take my comments with a grain of salt. ^^
Hello ma'am firstly I love your content and I'm also going to apply for gks scholarship at ewha gsis in international business and I've also read your research and found it so amazing and interesting .. I've tried to connect you on Instagram as I have some doubt and still have hope you read my msg and reply me on Instagram and I really hope to see you soon..

Is the personal statement the same as statement of purpose?
Hello professor Jun! Can you do a video gks undergraduate? would be grateful if you take this into consideration :) thank you!
Hi! Since I teach at the graduate level, it’s tough to find undergraduate GKS scholars I know personally. I’ll do my best, though! ^^

If we studied Master's in Economics can we apply for GKS PhD in international trade or international relation in Ewha GSIS??
